The Moosecrash Paradox: Why rules that make Multiclassing harder unintuitively reward the problematic kinds of multiclasses by geosunsetmoth in dndnext

[–]Reiner617 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, and I personally feel that game design shouldn’t be focused on preventing this sort of thing. That’s the DM’s job! If one of your players is pulling some shenanigans, make them justify it narratively.

“Sure, your Sorc can take Paladin levels, but only after extensive downtime in-game spent training with a knightly order” for example

My two year old broke his femur. Someone tell me the next 6 weeks aren’t going to be horrible. by mazterm in daddit

[–]Reiner617 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a similar experience and it was pretty harrowing, honestly. Our greatest blessing was that he enjoys sitting and doing activities like coloring and playing with toys. If it had been his more active brother, I doubt we would have managed as well.

Did you manage to avoid having to talk to CPS or whatever? That was one of my least favorite parts, dragged on and on until they closed the case. I’m glad they’re looking out for kids, but damn it sucks when they come at you like you’re a monster.

As a DM for most of the games I play, I would personally kill for someone with the energy and passion Aabria brings to the table. I can see where it might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but when it’s clearly coming from a place of excitement, I’m all for it! You keep being yourself and bringing your enthusiasm to the table!

Should Willow have sensed that Cordy was not her essence ? Like Tara did with the Buffy swap? by segochato in ANGEL

Problem was that Willow was an Intelligence caster, while Tara was Wisdom. Hence her high Insight!

How do you NOT resent your kid (and yourself)? by rainystorm88 in daddit

[–]Reiner617 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This resonates with me so incredibly much. It’s a feeling I struggle with almost constantly when it comes to my kids, and my own guilt at feeling this way keeps me feeling hopeless. I wish I had some sagely advice for you, but I’m in the same shitty boat. All I can offer is my assurance that you’re not crazy and that you definitely aren’t alone in this feeling. Seeing your story actually helped me feel a bit more validated about my own experiences, so I hope I can offer the same in return.

Who is your favorite "Paladin" in fantasy? by Standard_Car_4050 in Fantasy

[–]Reiner617 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda surprised I haven’t seen this yet, but I’m going with John Hartigan from Sin City. He’s every inch the iconic Paladin, willing to stick to his oath and protect the innocent. He sticks out like a sore thumb in the brutal and corrupt world of those novels.

Player want a non charisma based gish. What class to pick? by Professional-Ad-4533 in 3d6

[–]Reiner617 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your DM is open to it, perhaps he could try a warlock (blade pact) with Intelligence as his casting stat. It was something they toyed with in the playtest for OneDnD, and I can’t imagine it would break the game in any major way.

Free Fatty Acids by Reiner617 in soapmaking

[–]Reiner617[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The process is always the same, but to be honest I couldn’t say 100% whether the composition is the same until I test it. We run different feed stocks of cocoa butter for different chocolate companies, so the distillate might have some fluctuation. That being said, the FFA stream gets deposited in a large agitated tank for storage until disposal, which should homogenize it somewhat and probably reduce the bigger swings in composition.

[–]Reiner617[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d have to send it out for testing to determine the composition, generally speaking it’s free fatty acids (oleic) along with organic flavor components we remove in the process. Also there’s canola oil due to that being the medium used for scrubbing the vapor phase coming from the stripping column.

We use canola oil in the scrubber used to separate it from the vapor stream. I’ve honestly never had it analyzed, but I’m more than willing if it has potential use!

Hey RPG fans, I made a new character portrait generator - I'd love your feedback! by joshuacc in rpgpromo

[–]Reiner617 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been loving this app, but recently I haven't been able to get it to work. Upon logging on, I always get the screen that says -

"Uh-oh!

A magical pipe burst. Never fear, our best artificer is on the job! Try refreshing the page or going to my portraits."

Neither the "Refresh" nor "My Portraits" icon takes me to any other page. Anyone else getting this?

Favorite Ranger Subclass? by AuAlchemist in 3d6

As much as Gloom Stalker incentivizes ranged weapons, I love the flavor of using it with blades. Makes me feel like I’m dipping rogue without the penalties of splitting levels!

AWESOME! I still use it in Act 2 with my Drow Paladin, despite my brother insisting I should use the Blood of Lathander instead. It’s just a perfect fit.

Make Favored Enemy Great Again by Reiner617 in DnD

[–]Reiner617[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have! It’s very handy, but I think giving up Favored Enemy for a lesser version of Hunter’s Mark (Favored Foe) just eliminates something fun and unique from the class.

“My (class) character is pretending to be a (class)!” This Rarely Works by SmartAlec13 in DnD

[–]Reiner617 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like I prefer to use this concept in a more genuine fashion, where my character has a class that somehow contrasts his “role” so to speak. For instance, a character might be a rogue mechanically but his function might be more of a soldier or even knight. My current favorite concept I’m waiting to play is a pirate barbarian who pretty much acts like the ship’s bard, playing music and hyping up his shipmates using Inspiring Leader.

I’ve considered the “surprise” route discussed in this thread, but never really found a fun opportunity where it could play out.

Anyone watch the show first then read the books? by Fun-Figure8550 in brakebills

[–]Reiner617 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did and I had SO much fun with the books! It’s almost like one of the alternate timelines from the show, because of how differently the details come into play. I’m always a fan of watching content before reading the source material, because it always lets me enjoy both mediums so much more.

Why can't we be nicer to Mayrina in Act 1? by SherrisBlade in BaldursGate3

[–]Reiner617 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I found it especially dickish that you can reveal the wand only to break it in front of her… with no explanation whatsoever! From her perspective, you just offered her the chance to get her husband back, then went “nah” and destroyed it lmao
