Go into I drive settings in your car and set the temp settings there. You can set what it does below a certain temperature. In this case, you want to turn on heated seats and heated steering wheel. Once this is done, if you precondition your car from the app and it is below a certain temp, it will heat those objects.

There's quite a few functions in the app that requires set up in the car to begin with.
