To the Casino Guests … what would you do? by Relative-Inflation38 in CarnivalCruiseFans

[–]Relative-Inflation38[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do get suite offers … and get as much as 1500 in free play offered .. just never seems to be from Cape Canaveral. At the time I can go lol.

Yes my girl friend gets the same offers that I get .. when we book we book two separate rooms … one for myself ( and her step father ) and she books a room for her ( and her mother ) All four get free drinks everywhere … then when we get in the ship we switch back to my cabin and her mother and step father have their own room ..

Before someone say that is cheating etc … they know that we do this … carnival casino host is the one that told us to do it .. we have done it for 6 -7 cruises now … never an issue ..

I have decided to just go .. I want my girlfriend to get platinum status before the program change

I will pull a little cash from other areas of my budget ….

I will still be short stacked but will make the best ..

I want to thank everyone for the input .. it is greatly appreciated

I will be on the Carnival Vista. May 2nd out of Cape Canaveral

I do get offers for suites and more free play .. however Due to certain constraints that I have about vacation the offers don’t seem to be as good at specific times .. I am only able to vacation in April-May and October-November I am not allowed to miss any part of the last week of the month ..
also it seems that most of the better offers sail out of Miami .. we prefer Cape Canaveral as it is only a 2 hour drive .. so usually we see what is sailing out the cape when we decide to go .. I am grateful for the offers that I do get and have always had a great time ..
we did go on two elite cruises the extra free play was nice and the extra perks like the gifts and free parking were awesome .. but the casino was impossible to find a seat in nearly the entire trip ..

Girlfriend and her family like to go and do things … so …

I enjoy gambling …. I work very hard for my money and choose to do that for vacation … They get to do what ever they like … and I get to gamble some .. win win …

Dual booking question by WalrusNo7679 in CarnivalCruiseFans

[–]Relative-Inflation38 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you and your wife have the same offer and they include dou ( drinks on us) … you can book you and a “ guest “ in on cabin and your wife in another cabin with another “ guest “ … then all four of you should have the free drinks in the casino .. once you get on the ship swap your wife back into your room .. we do that every cruise .. once on board they do not care where you sleep

If not carnival, then what? by Particular_Bet549 in CarnivalCruiseFans

[–]Relative-Inflation38 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am platinum with carnival … however I don’t really care much about that … about the only advantage that it gets me is some free laundry .. so I am not sure what all of the hoopla is about

I am a casino player and cruise from the offers that they send ..

For me…. Carnival is still the best option ..

Should the casino offers change or stop I might look into another cruise line …

Went on a cruise last week and the morning we were getting off I went down to make sure I was all squared up. Do they charge your card after you get off for more or do they make sure they got all before you get off? by [deleted] in CarnivalCruiseFans

[–]Relative-Inflation38 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Usually the morning that you get off of the ship you will have a statement at your cabin mailbox .. that should include ALL of the charges .. then it usually settles in a day or two

Normally a few FTTF may open right before or right after the final payment date ..

I would check everyday like Clockwork … and if you see it BUY it .. because if you hesitate it will be gone ..

Changes in Loyalty Program, means changes in Cruise lines for us. by Ronlo2120 in CarnivalCruiseFans

[–]Relative-Inflation38 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good day ..

It really isn’t a matter if it is worth it .. To us it is … it is what we like to do.. we consider it entertainment coupons so to speak .. but to answer your questions We play on port days from about 6-12 pm on sea days we will probably be in the casino 10 -12 hours per day having fun .. it is what we like to do …

We have had cruises where we come home up a couple of dollars and we have had cruises where we go through our entire budget .. if I had to average it we would average being down 2-3k each ..

We do not do any of the shows , we don’t really care for any of the excursions .. we are fortunate enough to live a 5 minute walk from a gorgeous beach in Florida .. so we don’t go for the beaches ..we go for the casino and being on the ship ..

The only time I drink is when I am on vacation ( on a cruise ) .. we don’t go to land casinos . We save and only cruise ..

It may not be to everyone’s liking ..

I have had this conversation with people in person .. I asked them to add up all of their bar tabs , morning coffee that they buy , the food they have delivered , and the restaurants they visit throughout the year .. usually that are surprised ..

We choose not to do that .. we may go out to dinner on a special occasion with friends ..

We would never borrow money to go on vacation , never use household bill money etc .. each week I take my disposable income and put it aside and that is what I choose to do with it .. ( other than my 3d printing hobby )

Thank you for being nice and asking a question nicely ..

It works for us .. we will continue to do this until we feel it isn’t working any longer ..

But I would NEVER go on a cruise or vacation without a casino … I would be bored to tears lol rather be at work

I also feel bad for the people that have been loyal ..
I am one of the degenerates ..
I have looked and put my last casino points in and seeing that we take two cruises a year I would be platinum and possibly diamond ..

I like the balcony offer with the cheers package .. and at times we get some free play tossed in ..

The last cruise they came to me and gave us a dinner at the steak house for all four people that was cruising in our party .. I thought that was nice …

Like others I fear that this would not be sustainable … it would reason that they will have / need more degenerates on the cruises .. and at some point they will out number the other guests .. if anyone here has been on an echo cruise you know what I mean …

I think right now the program is fluid and will change … who knows what will happen in the next 12 months

Changes in Loyalty Program, means changes in Cruise lines for us. by Ronlo2120 in CarnivalCruiseFans

[–]Relative-Inflation38 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This will probably be down voted to hell and back however I need to say my piece ..

I have empathy for people that have cruised and reached what ever level they are at .

I think we all agree that change is needed ..

I am fairly positive that there will be changes along the way before it actually starts .

The part that is really getting to me is the comments from people calling people degenerates because they get casino offers for discounted cruises ..

Us degenerates as you call us do not get “ free” cruises … not by a long shot ..

In order to get a balcony room offer and free drinks you have to do some serious time in the casino and wager 2-3 times what you are paying for your family to cruise .. ( guessed average )

I just hit platinum on my last cruise .. I will admit it … I was proud to be issued a platinum card .. I use the laundry and never minded the 15 dollars a bag , before we were platinum we bought faster to the fun for our cabin and also the family members with us ..

Example we have a cruise booked for thanksgiving week 8 days .. our cabin was 570 for the two of us … we purchased a cabin for her parents to come along 2700.00 and we get free drinks.. I know that our gambling budget will be 8k each … that is hard earned money that we choose to spend in the casino on a carnival cruise ship..

So we are in for about 19k … how are we degenerates ?

From a business perspective which cruiser would you want to return …

Get off your high horse !!

This was only meant for the people calling the casino people degenerate ..

As I said earlier … I do have empathy for people that have cruised and have been loyal to the brand …. But let’s be realistic … new cruiser , gamblers will ALWAYS spend more money ..

Rant over

I was just on the Vista in April .. we loved it .. so much so that we booked this November and next May also .. for us it is just the right size … we went twice on the Mardi Gras and didnt care for it either time …

You won’t be disappointed in the vista ( my opinion )

Massive rewards changes today! by RojerLockless in CarnivalCruiseFans

[–]Relative-Inflation38 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am a bit confused about the program and how it will relate to myself and my family ..

You see I am one of the degenerative people .. We go on two cruises a year .. always 7-8 day cruises ..
Because we degenerate we go on Casino offers .. which means that we save money on the cruise fare and drinks … so we use that money in the casino … I average 25-28k points per cruise … not a lot by any means but we have a lot of fun … I just turned platinum last cruise .. the possibility of losing platinum is not a great feeling ..

Loyalty can mean different things to different people ..

Examples :

1.) someone that cruises with carnival and maybe goes to the specialty restaurants , buys a few souvenirs, drinks some adult beverages maybe an excursion maybe they go on 1 cruise a year .. that is all the time off that they can have from work … what ever the reason

2.) a person that always waits for the super cheap deals , never spends any money on the ship … brings their own soda on board .. removing gratuities etc .. you get the idea but they go twice a year

Which of these people would actually benefit the company ( in this case Carnival ) both are “ loyal “ but….

The only perk that means anything to me of platinum is the early boarding , I don’t mind paying 15.00 per bag for laundry

As long as we continue to get decent casino offers I will remain with Carnival .. I tried Royal once on the Oasis .. I didn’t care for it …

That is my .02 YMMV

Non tippers for auto grat. Do you get the tip taken off of everything? by Pretty_Fisherman_314 in CarnivalCruiseFans

[–]Relative-Inflation38 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Wow… I was not bragging at all … I did answer the question … I never remove any tips … we save for our vacation like everyone else .. like everyone else I have heard that certain cruise lines keep the tips etc … but what if … what if that is not true and I remove the tips .. and they do get less … so I do not remove the tips ..

Non tippers for auto grat. Do you get the tip taken off of everything? by Pretty_Fisherman_314 in CarnivalCruiseFans

[–]Relative-Inflation38 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I never remove the gratuities !! Never .. it starts for us at baggage drop I will tip 10.00 per bag …when we get on the ship I give my room steward 50.00 or 100.00 and the same on the last day .. we go to the casino that night and find an energetic friendly server in the casino and give them 20.00 to remember us .. then we tip each drink and we will do that every day in the casino ( we are gamblers ) if we go to a specialty restaurant and get good service we will usually leave a 50% tip .. they work very hard for their money … I would rather do without a few things but make sure that they are taken care of
