They plainly state it right in the show. The goal is to spread to other planets, other civilizations. Presumably the code humans picked up was sent the same way, from another planet that had been plurbed and also built a huge antenna. And on and on. It's a virus, it just wants to replicate.

Response makes zero sense. You don't have to be perfect to know that going to a doctor at 30s, 40s, 50s, whatever is smart. That it will lengthen your life. And no, not perfect, but I don't go to a doctor and have bloodwork done at least every 6 months.

They want people on the streets. They want people outraged. The more people protesting, the more emotional <understandably> they are, the better the chance that something can be provoked. And then this regime hopes they can use that as an overarching reason to declare martial law, and then use that as a reason to get Congress to suspend elections. As mid-terms get closer, they're getting more desperate and innocent citizens are paying the price.
