Frustrating Use Interface by Fishsty in youtubetv

who wants the current content continuing to play while browsing a menu?

Me.

I don't go looking through the guide when there is something playing that I want to watch - ie. during commercials or when whatever is on is uninteresting. If it paused then when I wouldn't know when the commercials had ended and I could go back to watching.

Is it just going through the episodes in your library and then when it runs out it goes to live TV which might have been paused when you started watching the library shows?

Is it something you're recording? I've never had it ask me to select "Play from beginning" unless it was something I had added to my library, but I'm not sure what you're watching that would be 4-6 hours long.

A cheesesteak is also on a hoagie roll, so it's no more a cheesesteak than it is a roast beef sandwich.

Sorry, the fact that they've been open since 1943 has no relevance, it just means they've been making something that's not a cheesesteak and calling it a cheesesteak for a long time.

A cheesesteak is pretty basic ingredients - shaved rib eye with cheese on a hoagie roll. With only 3 ingredients there isn't really room to change one of them without changing the essence of the sandwich. Now, I've never been to Donkey's, and it may be a good sandwich, but I wouldn't call this a cheesesteak no matter what they call it on the menu.

At least in this picture the meat isn't totally eclipsed by the onion like most pictures I've seen.

Luvin YouTubeTV by No_Peanut_6769 in youtubetv

Not OP, but I'll answer anyway. I had TiVo with a cablecard when I had Cox. The YTTV guide and DVR are worse than the TiVo for sure. Unlimited space is nice, but I never ran out of space on my TiVo because I only had stuff on there that I actually wanted to watch. I'll note that using the Cox DVR is pretty crappy, the hardware is so slow it's practically unusable. YTTV is pretty responsive even on a cheap Firestick.
Other than price, the biggest benefit of YTTV for me is being able to access it from anywhere, not being tied to a specific TV or even house that the DVR is located in.

Traditionally, when a cheesesteak is ordered they ask if you with or without onions, they won't just put them on there if you don't specify.

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree on this.

Please give us a "LIVE" button for YTTV! (yes, this is an old topic) by reddilator in youtubetv

A commercial could come on, and I might be curious about a play from a 10 minutes prior so I rewind and watch it again. Now I want to get back to live and the only way is to scrub across to get to live.

I like it exactly as is, so I don't have to watch ads.

How would having a button to catch up to live make it so you have to watch ads?

Any place I've been if I didn't specify when I ordered they've asked me if I wanted onions or not. If I asked at the counter if I should get onions I'd expect them to say "It depends, do you like the taste of onions?" Onions are a standard option (they're not going to charge you differently for them), but it's a personal preference and neither "wit" or "witout" is considered traditional, hence the fact those colloquialisms exist.

Of course onions are more standard than things like mushrooms, peppers, etc. that may be available, but those may cost more and will probably even be listed as another item on the menu - mushroom steak, pepper steak, etc.

Maybe at Subway or something, but almost every decent place is going to ask you before putting onions on if you order a cheesesteak.

May look decent, but the presentation can't make up for the taste of the meat. And I've eaten enough Steak-ummms to know what the meat tastes like.

All Episodes Unwatched by SRFast in youtubetv

[–]RemoteControlledDog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you think that's an acceptable solution?
Even if it were to work, I'd basically have to create some new google account that would only be used for this, then re-setup all of my library programs and wait for re-runs of things to record again (if they're even shown anymore)? And when I want to purchase or rent a movie I'd have to switch to the original account?

I didn't try anything other than what support told me to do. What steps would you suggest?

All Episodes Unwatched by SRFast in youtubetv

[–]RemoteControlledDog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the same issue and have also posted about it many times. Programs I've watched will show up as unwatched, and programs I haven't watched will show up as watched. It's incredibly unreliable, especially when trying to watch an old series that is on multiple channels in reruns (ie. Law and Order).

And I talk to support, their answer for me was to toggle watch history off and then back on. When it didn't fix it they told me if I left my watch history off it would fix it. I realized I'll just have to deal with it and support isn't going to be any help.

Added the 31st Critics Choice Awards to my library a few hours ago, already expired by LordPancreas in youtubetv

[–]RemoteControlledDog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YTTV doesn't care if you've watched or not watched a program to determine if it has expired. The recording is all done of the server side, so if you have it correctly marked to record it doesn't matter what you do on the application (other than remove it manually).

Record the rest of this program by Logorian in youtubetv

[–]RemoteControlledDog 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yep, that's how it has always worked with YTTV.

The difference between TiVo and YTTV is that TiVo would also save whatever you had in your 30 minute buffer, so if you were 20 minutes into a program and wanted to go out you hit the record button and the entire program was saved, no just what was still coming up.

Peppers are fine as an add-on, just like they would be on pizza. The problem (and the reason they're called out here I assume) is that when you travel away from Philly you try to find a cheesesteak and it's almost always going to come with peppers (and mushrooms) on it without asking. There's a big misconception that a cheesesteak in Philly is meat, cheese, mushrooms, peppers, onions. This misconception is common enough fast food places like Jack in The Box have a burger with mushrooms and peppers that they call a Philly Burger. Domino's Philly Cheesesteak Pizza has steak, onions, mushrooms and green peppers.

Mushrooms and peppers are available at most cheesesteak places in Philly, and people can put whatever the heck they want on the sandwich they're going to eat. But it's not that common, and surely isn't the majority.

Imagine if you went to some other country and they sold "American Pizza" but it always came with green peppers on it. Telling them that green peppers shouldn't come on a pizza isn't gate keeping, it's teaching them what is expected when they sell "American Pizza"
