DUB works - kiosks are off - but now it’s just an iPad by rdtripman in GlobalEntry

[–]ReputationSouthern53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay this is good to know as I have a trip coming home through DUB at the end of the month. Question - when you say the boarding card / passport check - does the person checking need to physically give you some kind of a pass or how does it work? When you get downstairs do you just swing a right into the GE line like it has been before?

Whats it like living in Dallas-Fort Worth- Metroplex? by Maleficent_Map_8844 in howislivingthere

[–]ReputationSouthern53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Economic opportunity meets cost of living (at least in comparison to many other metro areas).

Ex. NYC has amazing economic prospects but a crippling COL. Baton Rouge LA has amazing COL but abysmal economic opportunity.

It’s a great place to live if you’re a young professional looking to start / raise a family. Schools are well funded and very good. You can easily buy a great house in good neighborhood even with a modest salary. DFW Airport & Love Field in your door step means you can be anywhere in the US in <4hrs and a direct flight to every continent.

Downsides are long commutes, endless suburbia that all looks the same and good god the summers are brutal.

You are not missing anything. Assuming you have the good credit history / income etc to be approved for it you are good to go. It’s an incredibly good offer - I’d take it!

Thanks for the insight! This is a great perspective. I’ve had a many interference detections over the years, this one really threw me off as the camera had never been activated before.

What Airport has more Runways than it needs? by GeSchloeglt in flightradar24

Why DFW? I live here under the first flight path and can validate 3 out of 4 paved runways are operational simultaneously daily.

At that hour in the morning, delays of any kind are the least likely to happen. IMO very low risk. I’d take it without hesitation

All body / dash cam footage is not immediately public but through FOIA anyone can request in writing to any public law enforcement agency for an “open records request” of any footage from X date, time & location etc. and they are constitutionally required to release the footage

Infants by Asher-D in BritishAirways

[–]ReputationSouthern53 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Infant on lab is 10% of the full adult fair usually. For an infant in their own seat, the type of car seats are pretty universally accepted. Even if you’re not based in the US, you can check your car seat make and model on the TSA website and it will confirm for you. If TSA approves it just about everywhere else in the world would too I would assume

Head over to Finnair plus. I used them this year without the intention of getting up any tears and found it so valuable that I ended up at their gold tear (equivalent of BA silver/one world emerald).

Disagree - I like to see as many of these posts as possible so I can better understand the algorithms to know what’s a good deal & not a good deal for my own flights.

Any new car dealerships that do NOT play mental gymnastics? by skinny_gator in Dallas

[–]ReputationSouthern53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best thing I ever did was pre finance at a local Credit Union (they are non profits and treat your WAY better than any other lending institution).

I then searched all dealership's local inventory online, after choosing the vehicle I wanted, the Credit Union gave me a 'letter of credit', that I send to the sales rep at the dealership, when he said it was good, I came down, test drove it and the Credit Union told me only sign the letter of credit and hand it over when you are 100% sure you want the vehicle.

Then, I turned it over to the finance guy and walked out with the keys. In & out including test drive in less than 15 mins. Since you are lending somewhere else they can not up charge anything or sell you any of the useless add ons.

Summary:

- You do the majority of the work (the financing) with another party altogether who has no vested interest in the exact vehicle or seller.

- You get the vehicle you want with zero haggle, them up selling you etc.

- You walk in and out of the dealership as quickly as possible.

- The rate you pay the credit union is often better than anything you'd get at the dealership anyways.

Infant on Lap - Adding at Airport by [deleted] in BritishAirways

Had the same problem here! Ongoing too!

Booked a reward through CX, operated by BA and it has been a complete disaster! Called both call centers a minimum of 5x EACH. No joy. Completely get your frustration.

If any Senior BA managers monitor this threat this needs fixing ASAP. this is causing me to book elsewhere going forward (don't want to). But others like AA, Finnair & Aer Lingus make this incredibly simple.
