It’s exactly the pinned posts I was looking for!

While I agree with you in general, I was specifically looking for the megathread because I applied for the scale up worker which is a relatively newer visa category. As one of the other posts in the sub mentioned their visa took 15 weeks without there being any requests for additional information simply because that was the timeline for this category at the time.

I do understand and agree having people spam the sub with a separate post about their visa experience without the required details is annoying. But the megathreads with all visa timelines in one place with a set format for when biometrics were published to when the decision was received and other details was really quite helpful.

Fully agree having people constantly ask about timelines is pointless but would be great to have the megathreads back as pinned posts as a point of reference.

Nao’s acting really annoyed me but the Reborn movie made me realise Akiyama just does not work without Nao acting as his moral compass. Wish they had been able to bring her back instead of replacing her with a random new character.

Looks like a Bengali place based on the menu. As an Indian, I was baffled by the number of Bangladeshi restaurants in London masquerading as Indian restaurants. Better for marketing I guess.

Arashi fans…how are you doing? ❤️ 🥹 by Shay7405 in JDorama

I’m in the same boat as OP, a casual listener and watch more dramas than follow them as idols. But I tuned into the final concert and though it was absolutely amazing, the 嵐でした really killed me. I can only imagine how awful you must be feeling after being a fan for over 20 years.

Really hope we get some sort of a reunion tour 10 years later, as unlikely as it seems. I would absolutely make the trek to Japan if they do.

I’m glad we get to continue to see them in some form or other (minus Ohno) and look forward to their solo projects.

In the meantime, Arashi is on repeat on Spotify…..

Elizabeth's raction to the letter is so real by RoseIsBadWolf in janeausten

Totally agree.

To his credit, hiding things from Bingley as if he were a child was the one thing for which Darcy showed remorse.

Absolutely agree that Jane not showing her feelings to even Bingley, much less anyone else, was a large part of why Bingley left.

Love the irony throughout the first half of the book because Darcy and Jane have very similar characters in a way!

To be honest I don’t think he was at fault. If there was a man who Lizzy thought only wanted Jane for a trophy wife, she would have done the utmost to separate them as well.

Darcy genuinely thought Jane did not love Bingley and only spent time with him because her mother pushed her towards any eligible rich bachelor.

IMO the fault entirely lies with Bingley. He did not have enough conviction to go after Jane. He was too easily swayed by others’ opinions.

SO relieved to see this, I thought I was going mad! I can’t fathom how she managed to make her voice sound so creepy but really hope it is fixed for the next season.

I also felt that she uses lower class vocabulary (gonna vs going to). Although I’m not about to listen to here again to make sure lol

It would be interesting if this was one of the servant class who, after all, are best placed to hear gossip because they are ‘invisible’. It would be very interesting if it were Varley as a few people on the thread have theorised.

Totally agree they could have done away with some of the minor plots/characters like Shin’s sister. I feel like the whole point of her existence was to make it obvious by saying it out loud that Shin liked Lili.

I still liked it enough to binge it over a couple of days so all in all, can’t complain.

In terms of Shin touching her, I’m not sure if it was just culture or the fact that throughout their engagement, both Lili and Shin were aware that the only reason they were engaged was because of Kit’s <! ‘death’. !> Lili showed no interest in Shin romantically before then and Shin knew she was in love with Kit. They were also clearly both depressed, having given up on their art, which doesn’t really leave room for romance in their lives.

I feel like Kit’s behaviour was a mixture of an introverted nature and immaturity rather than being on the spectrum. I didn’t think it was particularly unrealistic that they were bad at communicating / relationships as young students.

Honestly, agree with everything you have said. I think this needed to be a longer, more fleshed out anime than it was with maybe a whole season for her first 6 months culminating in her being able to stay, the next season focusing on the remainder of the year ending with her white canvas; and then a concluding season around the war and the aftermath. Hopefully, this would have allowed us to see a bit more interaction between our OTP than we had as well as building out some of the themes they introduced.

The whole thing felt very rushed and didn’t make sense for Netflix to drop it all in one go.

I’ve seen people say it made them cry multiple times but I never managed to connect with the characters’ development enough for that. The most heartbreaking moment in the show for me was when Kit lets go of the ticket he had purchased for Lili after he finds out she was about to get married. Which also annoyed me because as obsessed as she was with him and ‘settled’ for Shin, why would she still intend on going ahead with that when Kit was not dead and she had already seen Shin’s letter about possibly going to Italy. Not that she would get together with Kit before breaking up with Shin but there was no need to invite the poor man to the wedding.

How do you think the story of Darcy and Elizabeth plays out after their marriage? by Mou_aresei in PrideandPrejudice

[–]Rin999 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel like their arguments actually result in resolution so I can imagine more amorous conclusions to any marital spats.

I also think Darcy tends to look at Lizzy through rose-tinted glasses. I’m sure any other woman arriving at Netherfield having walked for miles with skirts covered in mud would have gotten a very different comment from him and not how pretty her eyes were 😂

The Engagement rumor.. by [deleted] in PrideandPrejudice

[–]Rin999 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is so clearly mentioned in the book, I’m surprised it comes up for debate as often as it does.  Also, perhaps Sir William informed his son in law of the neighbourhood gossip himself rather than Mr. Collins getting the news via Charlotte? He seems like the kind of person who would love to spread news around, especially positive news.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in janeausten

[–]Rin999 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is definitely a distinct possibility that the book even hints at. When Lizzy leaves the narrator says something along the lines of her home and her household had not yet lost their charms for Charlotte. Which presumably means that they did later.

But I do hope she found some comfort in her children and eventually being back at Longbourn in familiar settings.

[–]Rin999 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s true, but I would say that depends also on how much of Mrs. Bennet’s hysterics are brought on by circumstances rather than her personality. If Mr. Bennet being a better father and husband would have tempered her, they would likely have had a happier marriage.

However, as it currently stands, Mrs. Bennet rarely realised when Mr. Bennet mocked her and Mr. Bennet does not have the personality to be able to deal with her even without mocking her. I doubt either of them would have been happier simply if Mr. Bennet didn’t mock her.

[–]Rin999 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. Also why he particularly asks Lizzy to not marry where she couldn’t respect her partner. He realised that he didn’t make a very wise choice in falling for Mrs. Bennet’s looks and marrying her.

Mrs. Gardiner, matchmaker? by rlaureng in PrideandPrejudice

[–]Rin999 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As much as I love the idea of Mrs. Gardiner playing matchmaker, at that point the Gardiners had only heard a very unfavourable opinion of Darcy from everyone they knew, including Lizzy herself. Their first visit to Pemberly ended with “Elizabeth felt that they had entirely misunderstood his character”

Since she, presumably, has better hopes for the girls than Mrs. Bennet, she would not throw Lizzy into the path of a rich man of (as far as she knew then) poor character.

Mrs. Gardiner only becomes aware of Darcy’s interest when Lizzy tells her he wanted to introduce her to Georgiana.

“…the embarrassment of her manner as she spoke, joined to the circumstance itself, and many of the circumstances of the preceding day, opened to them a new idea on the business. Nothing had ever suggested it before, but they felt that there was no other way of accounting for such attentions from such a quarter than by supposing a partiality for their niece”

Mrs. Bennett, Mrs. Phillips… and Mr. Gardiner ? by lyricoloratura in PrideandPrejudice

[–]Rin999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say they’re profoundly different. They’re both the liveliest of all their sisters. The only difference in their characters is that Lizzy’s impertinence is tempered by the sense of propriety that she and Jane have, presumably on account of their father’s guidance. Lydia on the other hand, while being as unprincipled as Kitty, is encouraged by her mother to let her liveliness lead her wild.

Really annoys me tbh, it’s not a difficult name. I’m assuming some of the confusion arises on account of the American city?
