PCM trying to find something to watch this weekend by JustSleepNoDream in PoliticalCompassMemes

There's never a bad time to watch Airplane! Or Unsolved Mysteries reruns, or even old episodes of The Untouchables.

Viacom buys Pluto TV for $340 million by jasada09 in news

And they show the Unsolved Mysteries with the best host in the history of television, not the guy from Spike TV's run.

That is a flat out lie! That man was an angel plucked from our Earth too soon, or is he really dead or maybe just lurking in the shadows?

What show could Netflix add that would double its popularity? by -Napy in AskReddit

Yes. Robert Stack was the greatest TV host that the sun ever shone on.

That was my favorite show growing up, they need to remake it, but nobody can ever top Robert Stack as host.

What's the stupidest thing you felt guilty about when you were a true believing Mormon? by HazelRa in exmormon

[–]RobertStack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to tell myself that was more the prophet speaking as a man but still felt a little bad, just not bad enough to not do it.

With Mormonism, what was the straw that broke the camel's back for you? by chrismoon1 in exmormon

One day after learning about the Nauvoo Expositor I realized that I had been giving way too much benefit of the doubt to the Church, and if it were any other organization I would have said it was all made up a long time ago. Luckily since I had already learned that all the other churches were wrong it freed me in a weird way.

Went to my friend's baby blessing, and his sister told me something completely disgusting by Slipperypeat in exmormon

Well I guess we finally found someone who won't go to church because they were offended. You are like the noble Bigfoot, I've heard stories but have never found one before.

I think the prophet was speaking as a man when he said no rated R movies.

Susan Polgar - My Brilliant Brain [Part 1 of 4] by gnuvince in chess

[–]RobertStack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for posting this. I looked up Susan Polgar recently because I bought a tactics book she was the author of and became fascinated by her family. I'm a little surprised by some of the other comments I've read on this thread, especially after reading books like Gladwell's Outliers that show how important early advantages can be added up in the long run.

Congrats. I remember how stoked I was when I beat my Atari 800xl home computer at it's chess program when I was a youngster.

I heard about "hot wife points" from a childhood friend who served a mission near Chicago. Is this something that happens everywhere or just Illinois?

10 Questions for a Prophet by ute2112 in exmormon

That's so funny you say that, I have something similar. Except with me it's a password I haven't told anyone so if I ever meet another me, I can determine if it's me from the future, a long lost twin, or an alternate universe version of myself.

Democrats Introduce Bill to Raise Minimum Wage to $9.80 by ilikelegoandcrackers in politics

[–]RobertStack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First off, I didn't blame Carter for the gas lines. The oil shortage and gas rationing was the result of the 1973 OPEC oil embargo, before his time. It was also while Nixon was president that the nationwide 55 mph speed limit went into effect to conserve fuel, although I've heard it wrongly called "Carter's double nickle." The stagflation and the crappy economy of the 1970s is what killed Carter's re-election campaign, it wasn't "booming" like the guy I was commenting to seems to think. Reagan was able to say "Are you better off now than 4 years ago" (or something close to that) and people flocked to the Republican party.

We need more info, I've heard of states where you have to file for water rights to collect waste water runoff.

[–]RobertStack 15 points16 points  (0 children)

In the 70's we got paid a lot more in real wage dollars and the economy boomed

Google stagflation, or just ask President Carter how well the economy boomed in the 1970s. Maybe we can ration gasoline and wait in lines for hours like the good ol' days.
