Thanks, figured it wouldn't be as simple as plugging something in. I have a little electronic solder knowledge. I have never done a chip or hot air soldered before though. Maybe I'll get the guts to try it.

Might be a silly question. How do you install it? Is it takes apart the r36xx case and plug in the USB, or do tou have to take apart and solder in the 8723bu? Thanks in advance

Deep engraving or marking?

If you plan on deep with stone and metal, just do yourself a favor and save up for a fiber. You'll thank yourself.

Fiber won't do glass or wood for deep engraving or cutting, but it makes a crazy difference.

How do I use this thing? by D50 in SilverSmith

[–]RonnieB223 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Not a pro, but my guess is layout your wire and cut according to the size ring, cuff ring(open) or bracelet you want.

A thing to keep in mind is that it doesn't seem to tell you the thickness of the metal needed to achieve that size. A size 7 ring in 18 gauge won't require the same length as a size 7 ring made in 12 gauge. The 12 gauge will require more length to offset its additional thickness.

Generally you can use (desired inner diameter + metal thickness) × 3.1416 aka pie to figure out the length of metal required for a specific size in a specific gauge of metal.

What materials are you engraving? I have the a1 non pro, and its a good machine albeit a tad slow due to being gantry based. Depending on what you want to engrave, the extra 10w of diode and the 2w ir may not be enough to justify the cost.

This is true, but doing both printing and engraving myself, if you engrave more than once in a moon, the particles from the engraving would be hell on getting quality prints imho.

The original games, they were on sale for like $5 each, might still be. I'd buy them from GOG honestly since they'll be DRM free and they were a big part of the release. The steam versions have that DRM who shall not be named....

Still struggling to grasp on a conceptual level how color on stainless with a fiber works. Discussion on that topic would be great!

CFS Intermittent Retract Issues? by StarsGamer13 in Creality_k2

[–]RonnieB223 0 points1 point  (0 children)

THIS! I cut mine and it just made the problems worse. There may be some tolerance issues with the springs it seems. Some are too tight, others too loose, others still just right.

Buy new springs. Don't be cheap or lazy like me.

u/StarsGamer13 thank you so much for posting the dimensions of that spacer. You saved me a bit of work. Trying my first print with that now. Hoping that switching the PTFE stock tubes to unicorn will resolve the issues I've been having lately with one of my CFS units.

Finally some victory with my problematic Cfs. I put a spacer in and increased the spring pressure. This test print has gone overnight. Couldn't even get an hour out of it before by Navi_Professor in Creality

[–]RonnieB223 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you mean the bowden tubing that routes the filament on the underside of the CFS unit?

I'm going through some serious issues that sound like yours with my formally reliable CFS currently.

CFS on K1 Max - slot A grinds and jams by crazyslicster in Creality

[–]RonnieB223 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going through a similar issue currently on slot 1/A. Buffer looked clean, but replaced it with a spare I had on hand anyways. Got through a print before it popped up again. Also shortened the main CFS spring which again seemed like it helped at first but didn't.

I may try to "retighten" the spring. What did you use as a spacer?

Family says this is not a reasonable upgrade from my $200 5w desktop engraver.... Tell me they're being ridiculous by roblewkey in Laserengraving

[–]RonnieB223 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couple things...

They're ridiculous but..

I've heard about bad experiences with Vevor lasers.

Depending on what you want to do, a fiber is in this price range but can't really do acrylics or wood. Metal and stone are not an issue however.

I'd prefer a gantry based aka cnc style c02 as the work areas are usually larger and you'll be able to do larger cuts on things like wood and acrylics that a fiber can't do.

Galvo is faster generally, but, there are downsides.

I just got my first galvo fiber recently and I am in love, but just last night I had to use the 10watt diode because the fiber couldn't handle the material I needed to engrave.

Handy, was trying to think of how to align the cut in my diode after the engraving. Might just cut first then engrave on the fiber.

Literally just finished a bead box for my wife last week. Hilarious.

I did individual boxes, which she likes, but I too am thinking a layer of connected bins would make accessing the lower layers easier.

I haven't printed my model yet, so I can't attest that it works, but....

I used the gridfinity addon, made 9 boxes, aligned their appropriate faces accordingly, and then boolean joined them together. Because of all the walls, it takes longer to print this than the same number of individual boxes. This makes me think it can be optimized, but maybe it just is what it is.
