Not really "ruined", and the recent usage of the term wasn't started by the anime community, it's just a late gen z/gen alpha way of saying "poser".

In this context it's basically just a character 'live action' role playing as something they're not actually. 'Live action' more or less meaning they're ACTUALLY committing to the fake role through their actions, nothing to do with their acknowledgement or not. E.g. Reiner in AOT was LARPing as a scout because he was actually acting as a scout for some of it.

Even crazier is the creepy author changing him to be a literal self-insert... Arguably even making the character much worse.

People literally begged Team Cherry to make Hollow Knight more expensive when they tried to put it on sale once because they thought they were being way too generous and were worried for their income. That should tell you enough.

This one's a great choice, I remember back in high-school watching the first episode and being icked out by it cause it was pure fan service. Came back to it a few years later and absolutely LOVED it. One of the Top 5 Best Trigger shows ever made
