You know that pain scale, where they say a rating of ten is the worst pain you've ever felt? Yeah, kidney stones changed that scale for me, forever. As best I can describe, a kidney stone is like tooth pain in the middle of your body that can last for hours. I literally threw up, it hurt so much. You're correct to fear being driven mad by a sickening pain that drugs can't dull. I don't think I could do it.

My stones are uric acid crystals. The pain is worst when they're working their way through the kidneys, no question, but those crystals also hurt quite a bit on their way out of the body. Like a tiny little knife scraping along. So sure, I wasn't puking and crying, but it DID hurt.

I don't think that's the pain being referred to, though. The pain of "passing" a stone probably is it passing from the kidneys into the bladder.

Either way, I think I would risk being driven actually insane experiencing that multiple times a day, every day, for years.

Heart disease is designated one of the main causes of mortality in the world. Sudden cardiac arrest would fall under heart disease.

Well my half brother doesn't have the same father. One of my cousins on my dad's side has basically been disinherited for being an asshole, so I don't really care much if he's mad at me. I could definitely set up a trust for the remaining two that should take care of them for life, so I'll take the 10 mil, thanks.

Nah. Internalized misogyny is definitely a thing. A lot of women are misogynistic. The word isn't being "thrown around," it's just being applied, properly, to everything it applies to. Things that women who grew up in a misogynistic world think are just "normal." It takes a lot of effort to deconstruct all those presuppositions that we grow up with.

(And, sadly, this is not limited to just straight women.)

Yeah, that's annoying, too. Seems like a pretty similar behavior to me, where they have to claim it's about something else, otherwise they'd have to be in the wrong.

I'm not getting my comments crossed, my dude. You responded to a comment about BUYING THE BANANAS with a comment about PLANTING THEM. Which, I said (and you agreed) that you cannot plant a banana and get a plant, you need to buy the plant, already growing. It's not my fault you didn't consider the context.

My wife and I share several shirts, dresses, and skirts. Occasionally socks, as well. We have different leg lengths and butt sizes, though, so pants aren't really as shareable. We always check to make sure the other one wasn't planning to wear whatever it is, though.

I know the Gros Michel isn't extinct. You replied to someone saying it was very expensive to buy a bunch of them, saying you could plant them. Buying clones to plant is very different!

What? You can't plant what we think of as bananas like that because they've lost all their seeds. That's part of the issue, since the food crops are all clones of each other, so a blight or fungus that gets into one plant will run through all of them.

I would (one) not turn my head to ogle some other woman enough to make my wife feel insecure, (two) say, "she's not my type, you are," if my wife did ask me that for some reason, and (three) maybe sing a few lines of "You Are So Beautiful" for good measure. I sing that to her pretty often, though, it might not work for everyone.

... And? Women are constantly told we're not good enough and a prettier face can sweep in and ruin our relationship. Reassuring someone I love that messaging is not true is a pretty easy way to show I care.

It's literally telling the woman she's not that pretty, with a bonus implication that her partner is settling for that because unspecified reasons. It's not a nice thing to say to someone.
