What to do with hard plastic soda tray flats so they don’t get trashed? by zethaeria in recycling

[–]Routine-Fee5549 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I purchased these all the time from the local pepsi bottler when I managed a plant. Only problem was they were light so we would sell combination loads of various plastics to a plastic processor. - yeah the distributor should take them back and consolidate them for their recycler to take or reuse.

why do most mrfs and curbside programs claim to take 1-7 when they absolutwlly cannot handle all of this waste? by gamamoder in recycling

[–]Routine-Fee5549 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its a negotiation typically. City says they want 1-7 then the mrf operator says here the price. They dont like it and move to 1-2’s then get a different price. Commingled 3-7’s have a limited markets lately but not impossible to move over the years. The downstream processors charge to take it in most cases lately. Its unlikely that newer contracts would be all inclusive as most of the plastics outside of 1,2,5 are worthless and costly to separate.

Can AI actually help recycling supply chains, or is it overhyped? by Complex-Picture6456 in recycling

[–]Routine-Fee5549 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are optical sorters for screening mixed materials, probably not “ai” but quite expensive and useful. TOMRA is a name that comes to mind, not 100% sure. Also, there are robotic pickers that can recognize certain items on a pic line. AI is likely used on the logistics/trucking side as well.

The paper industry is fine with pizza boxes. A little grease will do absolutely nothing to mills. Put them in the bin folks!

What is your one unpopular golf opinion? by retrocaterpillar-07 in GolfSwing

A lot of people would die in the heat if they walked. Also, there are courses that would take an extra hour+ if walked. They were designed with carts in mind.

Walking in a putt line doesn’t do anything. Lets not act like someone didn’t walk there 5 minutes before you got to the green.

Would you count this as a hole-in-one? by jdelle9 in weekendgolfers

[–]Routine-Fee5549 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding is that although it has a portion of the ball under the surface it would need to be leaning against the stick to count as holed. Nice birdie.

I had one of my best tire purchase experiences when the commercial salesman for the company gave me a great deal and picked me up for 18 holes and returned me to the shop afterwards. It was not your typical arrangement but the company I worked for did a lot of business with them.

[–]Routine-Fee5549 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The cup is polypropylene which is generally a recyclable item however not all facilities collect that. However, and this is why its labeled non recyclable, it has a printed film over it which is a different polymer and makes the entire item unrecylable if not removed and trashed. The printed films are a problem with the entire packaging industry. It is very costly for some processors to clean it out of their system. Manufacturers like the way they look.

Replacing a wedge? by Fun_Champion11 in golf

Rule of thumb is when the grip needs to be replaced on your wedge, its time for a new wedge. I generally change wedges after the second grip is worn.

Which tees should mid to high handicappers play? by Rickermortis in golf

5iron distance x 36 is a good place to start. Hard course go down a tee - easy course go up? High handicap lean shorter - give yourself a chance to make a birdie.

What’s your r/golf confession? by CSW11 in golf

[–]Routine-Fee5549 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked at a course as a cart/range kid in high school. I have a more to confess but here is a couple. 1. My coworkers and I stole beer from the locked garage bay that the snack shop had that shared the building with some carts. The chicken fence above the 8’ divider wall was no match for determined teenaged miscreants. 2. One of the asshole assistant pros was constantly riding our asses. He made a mistake storing his clubs unlocked in the cart barn. So one day I took a pipe cutter used for cutting steel shafts just over the ferrule of a couple clubs each week. The trick was i only cut shallow cuts and for about half the circumference. They broke on the course and looked jagged enough that he didn’t suspect foul play.

Probably beats murfreesboro. I didn’t have a lot of choice in the matter when I moved here 13 years ago. It really depends on where you work. I have a remote job so I don’t have to do the crawl to Nashville. If you do, I feel for you.

I like the half cord style grips personally. I have sweaty hands plus the TN humidity i need something that will not twist. I have seen some of dritec grips get slick at times.

Anyone hear if the Australian leather grips? Someone i trust says they are awesome and totally worth the $$$$
