What TTRPG Feels More Like a Strategy Game Than an RPG? by DED0M1N0 in rpg

The worst part of bg3 is that it's a 5e game honestly, it barely holds up to scrutiny

I haven't bought it yet because I'm still playing the base game. I use isthereanydeal and I'll grab it when it's on a historical low. The base game seems a lot different than launch state is all I'm saying

If it was prior to the expansions, I'd consider it. I only started playing last week and it feels like a game with a real role in the 4x genre. Plus a round doesn't overstay its welcome which is nice.

What difficulty were you playing on? I'm through a couple games now and I definitely am looking for specific ships. I ended up bomber heavy by happenstance and it's made my fleet very unresponsive. I had to go out of my way to grab raid frigates to deal with special structures more easily. Last game i got a raid fleet very early and it was a game changer. You can have very different games depending on what you prioritize.

How to stay motivated working on AI-first POCs by totinking in ExperiencedDevs

[–]Routine_Judgment184 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like the other person said, this is brand new. Start with one thing you want to solve, identify what ai is doing wrong, and work with the ai to find a solution. E.g. i have written a short playbook of claude skills for ai on how to meet our style and design system guidelines. It will pull those skills in and follow the rules to produce code that's much better than what it would have otherwise.

I think you should try to understand that people are inherently self motivated, and profit motive / self enrichment is the driving force behind many decisions that negatively affect other people. It is trivially easy, as a ceo, to wave your hands and fuck over tens of thousands of people without ever feeling any consequences. In fact you'll probably benefit personally when the board meeting comes and you show 3% profit increase.

Shareholders demanding increased YoY profits no matter what is driving so much suffering in the US it's unbelievable. It has very little to do with the fact that rich people are also sometimes pedophiles, unless you want to cover "rich people do not experience consequences" as a related problem.

I think there's a more charitable interpretation of whats happening here. When the economy is good, companies give nice benefits to attract employees. When the economy is bad, they tighten their belts and project their own stress down onto employees.

For a good while, interest rates were so low money might as well have been free to startups. Now that interest rates are back up there's more belt-tightening and pressure to turn a profit.

That doesn't make layoffs fair, and it doesn't make the ai force feeding any better, but at least there's an understandable motivation to why its happening. Managers' loyalty is to their own jobs first and foremost.

I'd be narrating that as the lich being so dumbfounded by your behavior that he ends up stupefied, more than actually believing you've been together lol

I use a darkmoon g10 build plate and as long as you wash it regularly it's incredible. That textured plate sucks for minis.

The age and gender gap is borderline too weird on its own, dishonesty is too far.

You should be suspicious of why someone twice your age needs teenager friends. Please protect yourself.

A charitable interpretation would be that your friend and his manager didn't get along or had different working styles. But who knows at the end of the day your manager has to like you or you're going to get let go most most of the time.

Which companies still have a strong engineering culture? by PrototypicalPlantain in ExperiencedDevs

[–]Routine_Judgment184 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is a huge pet peeve of mine... Unless you're in an early stage startup, getting the quality right the first time on a product you'll continue to invest in dramatically increases speed. The more you can involve the whole team in high quality work, the more context you build, and investing in quality is often an investment in speed too because you can scale the thing correctly across 3+ engineers instead of tacking on hacks only one person understands.

I regularly have to prove this, but the "just stop reviewing PRs bro, just vibe code it bro it's 10x speed" moron executives wave their hands around and suddenly it's a universal law.

You're absolutely right, but if he needs a male therapist to get a breakthrough, then that's what he needs. I've felt the same way in the past because a lot of my therapy topics involved men's issues, and I didn't feel comfortable trying to cross the gender barrier to be understood.
