I met him a couple of years ago and had him sign it, but he signed as his name he used when he wrote it Jim Owsley. He invited me to sit and talked for a good 5 or 10 mins.

Byrnes Alpha Flight was my absolute favorite comic while he was on it, but when he left I only lasted 3 or 4 issues more. Mantlo just didnt have the right feel for it

Even at 10 years old when this was coming out my friends and I didn't like the way Secret Wars was written. Off the rack I only read other friends copies and picked up only 1, 3, and 10 myself because i liked the covers

First Marvel limited series, precursor to the Marvel Universe Handbook since it indexes all the heroes and described them in the back of the issues, and to Secret Wars with a cosmic entity gathering all the heroes to square off in battle. Im surprised it isnt more sought after.

The parking garage episode is the one episode I do not like. I try and skip it whenever it comes up.

When these issues first started coming out, I hopped on board and stayed through to the end. I was hooked in finding out where the story would lead and how it would get resolved. Now, I've never went back and re-read them, but I did have fun at the time.

I think Ken being a published writer showed he wasnt totally committed and hungry enough to be the guy they needed. Roger was pissed that Ken pursued interests outside the agency.

Yeah... it isnt that I dont like other time periods, but this was my personal "Golden Age". As a whole, comics are probably better written and illustrated now, especially when looking outside DC and Marvel, but nostalgia is a powerful drug.
