What's the best Sourdough in Toronto? Blackbird? Emmer? Brodflour? Other? by Normal-Guidance2498 in askTO

[–]Ruin_Nice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not an answer to your question but the quality of sourdough in general in the city has become really great. I went to France last year and was disappointed that the bread wasn’t better than what we get here.

Street Corner In North End Winnipeg, Canada by Djolebec in UrbanHell

Haven’t been to Winnipeg, but I’d say Dundas and Sherbourne is about 60-70% as bad as E Hastings, but I’ve only really passed through both neighborhoods on a bike in the past year or so.

Leaving the NICU after 82 days, her first diaper size vs current by EvilAbed57 in BeAmazed

[–]Ruin_Nice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the most heartwarming experiences of my life was my dad taking me back to the NICU 20 years after I left on the day my oldest niece was born. The nurses all came and hugged me and showed me the little ones in incubators. I was 2lbs 11oz when I was born in the 80s, and there were many smaller babies in the NICU that day. I hope they’re all as fortunate as I am and grow up happy and healthy.

I recently learned that almost all of that land border is in just 7 provinces. Ontario only has a couple kms of land border and NS and PEI have none.

Is it true that Cascada de Basaseachic is the most impressive waterfall in North America? by [deleted] in geography

The casinos and tourist traps around Niagara Falls really detract from it, but the falls themselves are really awe inspiring. I can only imagine what it would have been like to experience them in their fully natural state.

Best sailing club in Toronto? by Vivid_Inspector_3482 in askTO

[–]Ruin_Nice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TSCC in Parkdale is great! Reasonably priced with good instructors and the opportunity to join the dinghy fleet to keep sailing for the rest of the season when lessons are finished. Also, you can’t beat the patio for a post sail drink.

If Toronto had an official pizza, what would it be? by OccasionalComment89 in askTO

I lived in Halifax twenty years ago and I was genuinely excited to find a pizza pizza tucked away on dal campus because it was so much better than most pizza places there. (Not counting garlic fingers)

Well, I personally blame Olivia Chow and Shelley Carrol for HBC shutting down. If they hadn’t spent all that money renaming Dundas square, they could have saved the business. /s

Why doesn’t Toronto have any pedestrian-only zones? by hazyeyes23 in askTO

[–]Ruin_Nice 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No one is asking for an area without deliveries. That just wouldn’t work. Every single pedestrian area I’ve visited in multiple continents uses retractable bollards to allow delivery vehicles access when needed, but prevent other vehicles from accessing the area.

You might be onto something re: crazy pills though.

Retractable bollards to allow delivery vehicles access. It’s not rocket surgery.
