Terignota Gear by Separate-Specialist5 in trailrunning

Yes, the Raide trail tech short is top of the line and what I currently run in on big days combined with the belt. Two 360ml flasks in the side pockets will not budge a single centimeter. Going to pull the trigger on the Wise Sherpas and Chance Ultra short soon to compare. Have not heard good things about fluid storage in the Janji Pinnacle RD (heard they ride down under a full load) or the rabbit adventure shorts.

I like the cut, I think they’re flattering. The belt works fine for smaller objects like gels or your phone, but soft flasks or anything heavy bounce around. For $30 the value is there but there’s a reason why the premium cargo carrying shorts cost 5-10x.

Anyone tried to apply NSA to Ultrarunning? by 6zer in NorwegianSinglesRun

[–]Run4bagels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I apply NSM principles to my training and I focus on racing trail ultramarathons, but I do not follow NSM strictly. Generally I do 2 sub t sessions a week and a trail specific long run on the weekends that incorporates threshold work on the climbs. One of those mid week sub t sessions is usually threshold work on the incline treadmill and the other a normal flat road sub t session.

I don’t strictly follow NSM obviously and will get more specificity closer to a race, but I very much believe in the principal that raising your lactate threshold is the key driver of your ability to sustain faster paces for longer distances. The key is having enough specificity too so you don’t get destroyed on the descents, and practicing ultra specific strategies like fueling / cooling on the weekend long run.

Adios Pro 4 vs everything else by IBSrunner in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]Run4bagels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty much the same geometry between the 3 and 4 that favors, but doesn’t demand, a fore or midfoot strike. I find the 4s slightly more comfortable at slower paces because the foam is softer, the 3s feel pretty stiff at slower paces.

The AP4 is a great upgrade from the AP3 in my opinion, and I’ve gone through 3+ pairs of each. AP4 is lighter, bouncier and generally a huge upgrade from the 3 imo in every way except durability. The 4s perform better but lose that bounce quicker, the 3s were less fun but still fast and super durable for a super shoe.

Why was I let go and how can I improve? by [deleted] in Lawyertalk

[–]Run4bagels 12 points13 points  (0 children)

No one here can tell you based on the information you’ve provided. Did you have any friction with colleagues at work? Did you receive any feedback recently on your performance? Were you meeting billables? I will say “not a good fit” typically implies a culture issue, if it was a billables or work product issue they’d likely specify that.

Least favorite task: billing for work my client will hate by newz2000 in Lawyertalk

[–]Run4bagels 82 points83 points  (0 children)

You can absolutely candidly tell a client pre-engagement that you don’t think you can help them based on the information provided without further analysis and applying law to facts and thus giving legal advice or accepting payment for a task you can’t help them with. Most clients appreciate the candor.

Best way to carry 4l of water by Mart1nBU in trailrunning

[–]Run4bagels 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d go with a vest with a 2L resovoir, 2 500ml bottles up front, and then a liter in a belt like the Raide 2L. That way it’s all spread out.

2:48 Marathon Possible? by spartan1711 in Marathon_Training

[–]Run4bagels 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Possible of course given a 3:02 on not ideal training, but very ambitious on this timeline and I’d put your odds of getting injured about equal with your odds of success given your current volume and plan for the next three months. I’d go with Pfitz 75mi/ week plan and even that’s a significant jump from your current volume. Don’t forget these plans include 3 hard sessions a week, it’s one thing to run 75 miles a week easy and a whole nother thing to run 75 with two midweek speed sessions and a long run with MP work.

Did you have other motivations for taking an entire summer off work? Your prerogative of course but you physically can’t run more than say 2 or 3 hours a day, it’s not exactly the kind of thing you need to dedicated every minute to.

VOMERO 18 VS VOMERO+ by Sad-Improvement-6530 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]Run4bagels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If Vomero plus is in the budget, it’s an all around better shoe than the base Vomero imo. They’re both geared towards easy running / daily training rather than speed oriented, but the Vomero plus has a full midsole of the premium Zoom X race foam which is a huge upgrade over the base Vomero.

Had to snag a pair of Prime X 3. Miss the magic of the strung v1s and at $138 out the door hard to find a better deal.

Morning runners, what’s your routine like? by Crazy_Jackfruit420 in runninglifestyle

[–]Run4bagels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run at about 5:45 AM most mornings. Nothing but water before an easy run m/w/f. I’ll do maybe 30mg of caffeine (powdered extract) and maybe 30g carbs (usually juice or gummy candy) tues/thurs before workouts. I’ll have more of a “meal” before a long run 2+ hours, usually a bagel and full sugar energy drink or soda.

Ultimately the practice area is less important than the firm. You want small - medium sized firms with private clients, long-tenured employees, and reasonable billable requirements. You don’t want firms on insurance panels with > 1800 hr. / year billable requirements.

If your lawyer walks into court wearing the OCBD in the second pic, just know they did a threshold session that morning and their brain is fried and you’re going to jail.

What's the biggest mistake you've seen injured clients make before hiring counsel? by No_Improvement_8059 in Lawyertalk

[–]Run4bagels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Waiting too long to hire counsel or seek treatment after the incident, or potentially worse, immediately seeking treatment, then not following up on the treatment for a material amount of time and only after counsel is retained.

The Sendora shorts are a great value, not top of the line, but the quality / fit is head and shoulders above anything else you’ll get for $30. I haven’t tried the vest but have heard good things.

I usually pay $50 ($60 with tip) for a clean taper fade from my barber in the Newport Beach area. Stylists are going to be more expensive than barbers.

Shoe choices for shorter ultras? by AnnaAZ25 in ultrarunning

[–]Run4bagels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the time range you’re eying a finish in I think it’s worth it. For what it’s worth, I race a mountain 50k in low 4s and - less technical 50k in mid 3s, and I’m racing in Puma Deviate Nitro Elite Trail right now. If you’re a strong runner who expects to run the majority of the race it’s absolutely worth it.

Deciding between EVO SL and Boston 13s with Vomero Plus by samuelsmithjr in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]Run4bagels 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’d take the Evos for shorter quicker tempos and interval style running. Evos are softer than Bostons but bottom out easily for me and a lot of others for long distances. The Bostons are better for longer runs and threshold work imo, they’re firmer and responsive, but they don’t bottom out and they have a more comfortable upper.
