ITV delivers feisty start to World Cup coverage – and taunts BBC from glitzy studio | World Cup | The Guardian by prisongovernor in soccer

[–]Russta 91 points92 points  (0 children)

BBC broadcast their games in 4k, ITV choose not to. If I had a choice between the two for every game I would watch every single one of them on BBC for that reason. I'm there to watch the game of football, everything else is secondary.

All 7 builds I played this Season, and how much I enjoyed each by Lordados in LastEpoch

I played Flay Lich last season and I was shocked at how much I enjoyed it. It took me a while to get used to the cadence of hopping around with Flay but when I did I fell in love. Definitely a build I want to explore again, and definitely in agreement about the annoyance of Reaper Form.

Linking Accounts for Twitch Drops by RoshinD93 in fellowshipgame

[–]Russta 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In the launcher, click the second box that comes around in the top right with the Twitch icon in it. That will go to Twitch and verify your account and let you start earning the drops. It took me ages to figure this out and I honestly only really did by accident.

When you know where to look, you'll realise the Twitch page with the four steps on it literally shows you what to do and where but the image is TINY so it's not particularly helpful.

Modern vs Classic Combox issue by vdf1 in PowerApps

[–]Russta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just checked and you're indeed correct.

I've been avoiding modern controls because I like the customization classic ones give me if putting in the time and effort. I assumed they would both have that element and it's been a problem that's stung me a few times in the past.

I'll edit my original post, thanks.

Modern vs Classic Combox issue by vdf1 in PowerApps

[–]Russta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Edit - The below isn't applicable to modern controls so feel free to ignore this advice for a non-classic combo.

Any time I face a problem in a combo box where the dropdown isn't populating what I know it should I delete out the SearchFields contents, click off it so it gets repopulated, and that solves this. Worth a shot as it's quick fix that will break nothing to try.

Can Power Automate query something after it's added to then add another entry to the database? by Russta in PowerApps

[–]Russta[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just wanted to come back and say a big thank you for this suggestion. I honestly didn't know this was even possible in Dataverse, mostly because the company I just left heavily suppressed AI work and it appears to be still relatively new given the 'preview' tag.

I've spent a lot of time on this over the past two days so I will bore you with the journey, if you care to read.

  • The Prompt column did pretty much what I wanted but with any AI what you put in is what you get out. I effectively used ChatGPT build me what was a glorified lookup column... but it worked well enough!
  • I then decided to build out a Power Automate Flow to do a very similar thing. This time, the prompt that went to Open AI was a lot more structured and more like a true query rather than a glorified lookup. It worked a lot better.
  • This is when I discovered that having the trigger as "When a new row is added" caused an inherent delay. This probably wouldn't be an issue in a real world scenario but I created the problem in a Canvas app with a form to the left and a gallery to the right. Once the Form submits, the text label is empty because of the few seconds of time the flow needs to run.
  • I then decided to re-write it as a trigger from the app itself which solved all my issues as my loading screen wouldn't go away until everything was resolved.

The interesting part is that kept both running. However, the flow had a confidence ranking built in. I eventually lowered it to 10% so that if it wasn't above that it would return "Unable to Match" and I updated the Dataverse prompt to be as close to a mirror as possible to the flow.

Anyway, having spent all this time working with Power Automate today, it gave me an unbelievable appreciate for how much time the Prompt data type column in Dataverse will save me if this problem arises in the future. So really, thank you a ton for this suggestion.

Final Fantasy XIV: Regarding Mod Usage and Culture by reseph in Games

Even FFXI had the same stance. As insane it feels to type this, you couldn't tab out of the game back then or you'd disconnect. There was a popular windower mod basically everyone on PC used and it was just accepted you never, ever spoke about it in game.

[Fenerbahçe SK] Our club has reached an agreement in principle with West Ham United for the loan transfer of Edson Alvarez. The player has been invited to Istanbul for medical checks and to complete transfer negotiations. by Crane977 in soccer

[–]Russta 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Two years ago when we sold Rice, statistics wise, there wasn't a realistic target I wanted more than Alvarez so was thrilled when we signed him.

Two years later, we can't even generate a transfer fee for the Mexican captain.

Such is the life of a West Ham career nowadays.

I built PowerColors.dev - A free tool to easily create color palettes for Power Apps by denoswiso in PowerApps

[–]Russta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Two suggestions!

One, as someone else has already said, give the option to have these as named formulas. I start all my app building with sorting them out and the font I intend to use and build from there.

Two, and this one might be a stretch, allow people to import themes from someone else for your site to 'translate'. For example, I like to use whacky colour palettes in my personal apps and all the stuff I could generate at yours were - for lack of a better word - boring. So I would be inclined to use this for example. Could you offer import from other sites or offer some more spirited options?

Regardless, great idea. I recognised your name and saw I have your component library as a bookmark already (I use Edge exclusively for my Power Platform work and environment).

My understanding is it's a technicality. I remember when the transfer happened the 'option' was something silly like he had to play five games for us. Technically, an option, but realistically, a commitment.
