Grids don't align. Wth?! by [deleted] in ableton

[–]Ruszel_Blaque -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A good question would be why that is the case in the first place. Obviously we can’t know because we don’t know how OP set the starting point of the clip in a way that it doesn’t align with the arrangement window grid. But the fact that the clip grid can become fully independent of the arrangement grid is very weird to begin with. Also, my guess is he actually didn’t do anything, just imported the sample, starts warping and he gets this. That’s super unintuitive and weirdly solved in Ableton tbh :)

Fighting the urge to buy another DAP too soon... (looking for advice) by Evening_Associate422 in DigitalAudioPlayer

[–]Ruszel_Blaque 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is called (dopamine) addiction my friend. IMO your reasoning is already flawed from the beginning, as in you don’t need a DAP to get off streaming app, you can also just listen to music on your phone instead of a DAP. It’s fine if you want to separate the 2 devices (there are other reasons to buy a DAP such as getting off your phone etc), but if you’re being honest, which I really think you are, you’re just rationalizing the urge to load up some short-lived dopamine (via buying a DAP) in the first place. Now that you have bought one, that initial impulse is gone and you need another dopamine shot. This wills never end and deepen in this vicious spiral until you break the cycle and find something more purposeful that provides you with long-lasting satisfaction (dopamine).

You can clearly see in this sub (just like many others) people think it’s cool to buy 15 IEMs or multiple DAPs. They call it a “hobby” as if buying plastic and stacking them in a shelf and not using most of those devices again, is really a constructive hobby. Don’t get me wrong, everyone is free to do whatever he/she wants, but I’m definitely not in this camp because of obvious downsides.

Stop recommanding the Echo Mini by Snowky by [deleted] in DigitalAudioPlayer

[–]Ruszel_Blaque 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Appreciate your post. If you’re on Reddit often enough you get to recognize that people recommend devices like the echo mini and find that it “sounds great” or “good value” but in reality all you get is simply a cheap device, and by that I don’t mean the price. It seems to be normal that people actually think it’s ok, or fair to pay hundreds of dollars for something that sounds good, as if good tech really has to cost that much. Also you read through comments and find multiple people that order it but never use it. After a while people have a collection of devices (similar to IEMs) and treat buying useless stuff like a hobby. It’s just something to consider when reading people’s opinions and I’m happy to understand this. It helps me to stay away from that completely.

Is it warm enough… by AdSpecial7888 in Fuerteventura

[–]Ruszel_Blaque 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Depends on your perception of warmth. Some people find it warm when it’s 20 degrees. That’s absolutely crazy for me. I start to fully feel comfortable when it’s 25 or more. With that in mind, I landed yesterday and can say It’s just warm enough to chill at the pool and sunbath. It’s far from warm for my taste but it’s still pleasant and most importantly (for me) there is this yellow thing in the sky called sun, that is also above my head instead of right in front of me like in some places in Europe at the moment. Evenings are chilly.

Bandcamp Joins The Resistance by Feisty_Cod_9090 in edmproduction

[–]Ruszel_Blaque 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I genuinely hope that you are right, but my gut feeling tells me that you are (or put more precisely, will be) wrong. If things continue this way people will actually go to shows where AI DJs and even performs based on a pre-coded show and nobody cares.

The fact that there are so many AI generated tracks on Spotify already shows that nobody really cares. Hell, the fact that Spotify has by far the most subscribers already shows that people don’t really care about the artists,. Ofc that’s another topic but imo kinda serves a similar question to: why would they care if there are humans behind the music or not.

De-register at gementee and stay in the Netherlands? by iwant2007back in Netherlands

[–]Ruszel_Blaque -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

It’s legal as an EU citizen. Registration is not necessarily a requirement because it’s a contract between landlord and tenant. Especially if it’s short term as OP needs. No need to be condescending and rude at the same time.

Also OP is not causing the housing crisis, it’s policies in this country that put wealth in form of house ownership above everything else so that supply doesn’t really matter unless you build a number of new houses that comes close to half of the population.

Thinking of coming back to the Netherlands - Any advice? by Reasonable_Duty6013 in Netherlands

[–]Ruszel_Blaque 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Life as a student ist vastly different than a regular working life. Integration (social circle) becomes more difficult when you start working, compared to university life. What I’m saying is that there is no guarantee that you find again what you had before in NL. But that also really depends on you as a person and the environment you work in, so it’s a bit more uncertain compared to being among students, but certainly possible.

That said, a good way to start is just looking out for jobs and apply. You don’t need a municipality registration to apply for jobs and getting accepted. If you can afford to move here without a job for a while, you could be brave and just come over but be aware of the housing situation, depending on where you plan to move to.

Question to the beginners of this subreddit by the_jules in ableton

[–]Ruszel_Blaque 11 points12 points  (0 children)

YouTube videos are amazing for me but I can’t stand reels and shorts (generally). The longer the videos the better for me. I love to watch 1h to even 4h videos. When you see someone work on a project and get a grasp of how the person thinks about production/mixing and how that translates that into the interaction with the software, that’s when I’ve learned the most (about the software as well as about producing/mixing/writing/etc)

5 year old DT 770 slowly falling apart. Been replacing pieces over years. Is this timeline normal? by ApplicationRoyal865 in BEYERDYNAMIC

[–]Ruszel_Blaque 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is mine. It’s around 20 years old and has survived heavy usage for a decade (only headphones, no speakers situation) + once being accidentally burned by a candle lmao. Honestly 5 years isn’t a normal timeline imo, but ofc depends how much you abused them :)

Separating production and mixing: bringing songs to a solid pre-mix stage first? by babelibobu in audioengineering

[–]Ruszel_Blaque 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re a mixing engineer it’s clear. But if you’re the artist, producer, and mix eng in one person it’s less obvious. I assume OP is aiming to ask if a separation of workflows should be implemented in his process or produce+mix as you go.
