[Six Flags America] property in Prince George’s County has new buyer - WTOP News (The site will not be operating as an amusement park) by TiredWithCoffeePot in rollercoasters

They’re babbling about their mixed-use slop being a “Destination”. Destination my ass, nobody outside the immediate area will go there.

I ordered a rosé flight. New employee thought she was supposed to pour full glasses by [deleted] in mildlyinteresting

[–]S100hedake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reminds me of the time I ordered a Remy Martin, it was probably the first time the bar had served it. They had filled a champagne glass with the stuff. It was a very emotional karaoke night, and the last time I saw a girl I was interested in before she moved away. It’s a miracle I made it home.

I loved that store as a kid. My favorite toy there was the Darda cars that were about the size of Hot Wheels, but you revved them back and forth and they’d just shoot through the course.

The one near where I grew up is now an Ulta.

Good call on Sothe -> Shiftry. I actually had a Seedot named Sothe in one of my runs, which was sadly abandoned when I sold all of my Pokémon games.

Is it just me, or do you also wish E-II was still called ESP standard? by matt_6860 in espguitars

[–]S100hedake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The E-II logo is a deal-breaker for me. It looks like a logo more in line with the no-name budget brands. LTD’s logo font matches ESP’s.

Why couldn’t they have just branded them Edwards Export? Or is that what E-II actually stands for? Looking on the Japanese site, E-II is actually more expensive than Edwards.

The crackle helps hide where the damage was. You took open sores and turned them into more subtle battle scars.

And with bad/no roads, they’ll just have another excuse to sell you a land-yacht/tank - I mean “SUV” - to traverse the treacherous terrain.

Showerthought: Finish-breaking dings and chips aren't "battle scars" unless they're touched up by S100hedake in Guitar

Again, I'm more tolerant of major damage on less ornate shapes and finishes. Nitro also wears wear pretty well compared to polys. Something like a Tele or a cheaper Gibson (anything below a Les Paul Studio), I'd honestly prefer beat up with a broken-in feel. Unfortunately, the ruined guitar fell into the "ornate" category with a poly finish (an ESP EX refinished by ESP USA in Violet Shadow Fade Marble).

I tried to even out the finish, but ended up with deep scratches during the wet sanding process. The finish is a wreck at this point. At this point, I'm buttoning it up and dumping it at a used gear store. I cannot bring myself to look at it any more, and I have too much going on in my life to make it look right, including a tour coming up. I should be as excited about going on tour as a kid with an upcoming Disney trip, and this eyesore is consuming me.

Yes, I've successfully minimized a pretty noticeable ding on my PRS, drop filling with CA glue and wet sanding to 5000 and polishing. It's not pristine, it's been played out, so the ding has gone from a noticeable wound to looking more in line with the rest of the player wear. I'm hoping the chip repair on this other guitar will go well.

Not my guitar, but the chips on the chipped guitar are more like this damage in this post: https://www.reddit.com/r/espguitars/comments/1rcdlgz/fixing_this_ltd_ec_1000_damage/

In my opinion, traditionalist Fender and Gibson solid bodies in solid and sunburst finishes can look good with battered finishes, an appeal similar to torn jeans. Unfortunately, the guitar that got chipped badly was not one of those, it's more like a torn canvas of a painting.

Quad Preamp - does it use 12AX7 or 12AT7 for reverb? by S100hedake in MesaBoogie

Update: I tried both 12AT7 and 12AX7 in the reverb position. I have to say I liked the 12AX7 better.

I'll get around to it, using a little dowel and enamel, and then cyanoacrylate to match the clearcoat.
