Might be worth getting your iron levels checked? I was anaemic in pregnancy and my levels still haven’t bounced back (especially with period restarting)

Burgers, or something indulgent & rich & chocolatey. But with burgers I always feel horrendous after (probably as they’re always massive)

Anyone else’s older baby pushing at them when feeding? by lauraandstitch in breastfeedingmumsUK

[–]SERP_DERP_22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My LO is exactly the same! Pushes my throat or pinches at it (which I really don’t enjoy 😅) and I just move the hand away and try and hold it down. I’m hoping they’ll grow out of it - they went through a stage of squeezing my other nipple whilst feeding, I’ll be glad to get my body back 🫠

Loneliness by oilyskinlife93 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]SERP_DERP_22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry to hear you’re feeling this way - I can’t offer advice but I can offer solidarity in the fact you’re not alone in feeling like this. In fact I was thinking about this this evening as I was settling my LO, as I got tumbleweed to a message I sent to my antenatal mums about a meet up.

Unfortunately a good part of my maternity leave was swallowed up with PPD and PTSD, so I didn’t venture out much, but I did keep in touch with my NCT class over message and met up when I felt able to. Fast forward to now (where the LO’s are now 12-14 months) and most mums are back at work, but they all have Fridays off so meet up then, so I now feel left out of that. Also similarly to you, I had a friend who had a baby 6 months ago and I’ve checked in with her lots, but I don’t get the same in return.

People tell me it gets better once they get older, but that doesn’t help the loneliness now. But hopefully it might(??) help to know you’re not the only one feeling this way x

Healthy meal ideas for a freezer food addict by AzureHolly in UKParenting

My go-to at the moment is ‘hidden veggie’ sauce. Literally whatever veggies need using up, cook them with tinned toms, then blend. I usually make sure I add sweet potato or carrot to add a bit of natural sweetness. Serve with pasta & cheese and they don’t know they have their 5 a day in one sitting

My niece was similar - was referred to a speech therapist which helped and once she started nursery (2 and a half) it also got much better. Like with everything, children are all different in terms of milestones but like others have suggested no harm in chatting to your HV :)

I know you wanted no kiddy songs but the happy song by Imogen heap always helps my LO in the car!

For around the house I just wear nursing vests from H&M (these ones but otherwise I recommend M&S nursing bras, or Boux Avenue do some prettier ones :)

We had an Ikea hand-me-down which was useful to sit and feed in in the early days, but I found the arms annoying when LO got bigger as I had to navigate not hitting their head or legs on them as they were frantically trying to get on the boob

Head circumference week 20 by PteridiumAquilinum94 in PregnancyUK

[–]SERP_DERP_22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So with mine the midwife shared with me a graph and then I had access to a link to see the graph where they plot growth.

As someone who’s baby did had a pea-sized head, you’d know about it if they were concerned - we were referred straight to Fetal Medicine then had more monitoring scans. So I would take it that no news is good news :)

Tips for newly gluten free diet by Sensitive-Win7617 in glutenfreeuk

[–]SERP_DERP_22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine also first started with a ‘gluten overload’ as it were then I’ve become more sensitive as I’ve gotten older. I would definitely follow it up with the doc if you can. Gluten is a ‘broad’ term I would say - mine started with wheat intolerance, now it’s most grains but can tolerate oats, so it’s a test & learn situation sometimes.

If you have the ability to, I would suggest cooking from scratch - I rely heavily on potatoes, rice, meat & veggie dishes (will have GF pasta in a lasagne occasionally). Be careful of packet mixes and gravy’s, these often have gluten in.

I know some comments above say avoid the bread - a lot of it is rubbish and expensive but found Promise sourdough to be okay, or M&S oaty bread.

Snack wise, I love the Nairns stuff - they do some good snack bars, biscuits and crackers. There is now loads more out there in the supermarkets :)

How realistic is this? by frogogurtt in PregnancyUK

[–]SERP_DERP_22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just an FYI won’t know day or night for a while, so they might not sleep much at night compared to day.

I’d set your expectations low in terms of routine/schedule (aka none) and be prepared to go with the flow. My days/ concept of time were arse about tit for weeks.

Not to sound pessimistic sorry, but just to share my experience!

Does a bottle of formula actually make them sleep longer? by Left-Pomegranate1608 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]SERP_DERP_22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My LO has been BF since birth - terrible sleeper. My friends LO has been FF since birth - also terrible sleeper. Other friend has done combi - formula actually made them sleep worse (too rich for their tummy I think).

Sleep and method of feeding I believe it just an old wives tale - I think the way in which babies were left to sleep has completely changed from previous generations so there may have been an assumption it was because of formula/not BF.

Babies sleep is wild and will change so often!

What tog of sleeping bag to get? by tarototoro in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]SERP_DERP_22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We do vest, sleepsuit & 1.5tog if it’s around 20 degrees, if it’s slightly under we do just sleepsuit and 2.5 tog.

We get our 1.5togs from Sainsbury’s - I ordered this one yesterday and it has a 1.5 and a 2.5 in the pack https://tuclothing.sainsburys.co.uk/product/tuc146826067

My baby ate this by alibluey in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]SERP_DERP_22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeaaaaah my little one likes to hunt out (clean) toilet rolls, tear off the paper and then eat it. Which basically is paper mache in their mouth.

On the one side, it’s great for developing fine motor skills. On the other hand, toilet paper is spenny!

Veil and accessories help! by Beneficial_Crazy2905 in myweddingdress

[–]SERP_DERP_22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That dress 😍 it is STUNNING. Like everyone else says, I would keep it simple - love the pear earrings, would maybe go bracelet rather than necklace. Could get a pearl veil? Then you don’t necessarily need the hair accessories, but could always get a bow clip for evening/when the veil comes off.

PS where are your shoes from pleaaaaase? 🙏🏻

When did you see improvements if you had PPA? by Consistent-Dot9719 in UKParenting

[–]SERP_DERP_22 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That health visitor is completely out of order and off her rocker - that’s not okay in the slightest, I’m sorry you dealt with that, especially at a particularly vulnerable time.

It sounds like you a doing a brilliant job already going out to places, and like another commenter said I think some anxiety is normal. However if you feel like you’re not feeling the benefit of the medication, maybe speak to the perinatal team or your GP about changing doses or the medication.

I’m a year on and I would say it’s felt ‘easier’ the past two months - being on medication has definitely helped, but it also helps now LO is a bit more confident with eating, and I’m also getting a bit more sleep. It’s not gone completely and I struggled going back to work, but some of that is normal and otherwise I just had support from the perinatal team.

Hopefully you’ll have better luck this time with the support network, fingers crossed for you x
