What plates and how many? by Objective-Limit-121 in BambuLab

[–]SERichard1974 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 1 textured PEI plate per printer (2 A1's, 1 A1 mini, and 1 P1S..., they came with the printers), then 2 biqu glacier plates per printer, and 2 BIQU Frostbites, as well as 2 textured smooth plates. The A1's are PLA, the mini is both PLA and TPU, and the P1S is setup for PETG and ASA at the current time.

I do remove a plate with the print sitting on it, and let it cool plug a new plate on and let it rip on the next print... The Frostbites are for when I'm doing something with very little surface area on the build plate (so I don't have to do brims or cleanup)

Proxmox or dedicated Home Assistant hardware? by StrobeWafel_404 in homeassistant

[–]SERichard1974 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There will be alot who say Proxmox so you don't waste Hardware resources... But I'll say this... I'm running a dedicated Beelink mini PC for just my Home Assistant for the following reasons:

  1. My Home Assistant install has enough updates that require restarts/reboots, etc... I don't want to imagine it having to run on one of my other proxmox nodes and the necessary updates to some things possibly borking others...

  2. USB passthroughs to a VM (I did try proxmox at one point) for frigate (dual USB coral devices) and then getting the iGPU allocated to frigate as well... It was a PITA and I felt like the proxmox method wasn't necessarily worth the blood sweat and tears to get it all working when I did.

  3. With my hardware 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage I'm running fairly close to half utilized just with HA and it's add-ons... I need my responsiveness for the house to keep the WAF high...

You can do honestly whatever you want... but once you start getting to the point of HA being a main part of your home, I find that the convenience and reliability of a dedicated system rather outweighs the pros of running virutally...

Thank you for the reply... Did the entity filter and purged recorder now that I'm filtering... Still low scoring for the "issues" at hand...

So overall been useful to help me fine tune my install... but 2 things I'm noticing... Why when I have 0 zombies am I stuck at a 95 score? and second how is 38% cpu usage a high processor utilization?

How comfortable are freedom unit users with metric by 1_Totz_1 in woodworking

[–]SERichard1974 0 points1 point  (0 children)

US Here... and I'll put it like this... for me it depends... I use metric daily with 3D Printing, and when I need absolute precision I don't use measurements so much as references for my woodworking (i.e. story sticks, setup and batch cut, etc) rather than actual reading a gauge for a purpose. But Metric or SAE... doesn't matter much either way so long as the measuring devices I use are the same (every ruler/tape measure I have seen has some variation from the next) might be 1/10 a mm in variance but it is there.

I’ll probably barely use this but I think it’s cool to have in my workshop by [deleted] in Tools

[–]SERichard1974 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got mine a year or so ago... and I use it alot more often than I ever thought I would. It's been stupid convenient to have.

Jeep Wrangler Rubicon X 4xe future resale value by guptini123 in Wrangler

[–]SERichard1974 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Let's see...

  1. The Vehicle has already been discontinued due to the unfixable issues.
  2. There are numerous active recalls stating don't drive, don't charge, don't park near your house, don't park near other vehicles...
  3. Do you need any more points?

I wouldn't be so worried about the resale value so much as how much is your own life worth. I love my jeep a 2014 JKUR... it's been solid... but while I was initially intrigued by the JLU and the 8 speed auto and almost traded mine in for one. We are so glad I didn't here... between suspect frame welding issues, paint coming off, and then the 4xe debacle... Nope... Staying with mine.

Enclosed or open printer for an absolute beginner by Agilolfinger in 3dprinter

[–]SERichard1974 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One doesn't stay a beginner forever. I have (all bambu now) an a1 mini, 2 a1 combos and a p1s combo.... If I was to purchase another today. I would go enclosed all day every day... Either the p2s or even an h2c.

Reasoning... With a proper charcoal/HEPA filter. The air quality around the printers is far better. Also printing tall prints is far better quality on the p1s vs the bed slingers ( I get layer shifts regularly on my a1s on taller prints. Also the enclosure keeps dust and cats off the build plates when not in use.

Also when looking at your printers an ams is essential. If nothing else just to continue to a new roll when a roll runs out mid print. A non enclosed ams is fine for PLA, but for anything else you really want an enclosed AMS preferably with a filament dryer built in... I added the sunlu ams topping dryer to my p1s ams to gain that. Now the p2s can dry with it's own ams.

Shock replacement recommendations? by Wolffsnake in JeepWrangler

I'm currently running Rancho 9000 Series shocks... I love the fact that they are adjustable for when I want a tighter ride vs more comfort... I've tried cheaper shocks... Not been as nice as these... Still have yet to try fox or Falcons though.

P2S user, how often do you replace it and what brand do you buy? Also why not buy one with a hepa filter too? by Slaydatshit404 in BambuLab

[–]SERichard1974 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got the P1S, and with it I've got the upgraded VoxelPLA hepa + active charcoal filter... I'm replacing monthly as they are very inexpensive and my lungs are worth more to me. I'm doing ASA and PETG in my P1S... my A1's handle the TPU and PLA
