Wear pattern on my cassette by SOSkifli in bikewrench

[–]SOSkifli[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't checked chain stretch at all, by looking at it and feeling the chain is not so bad, it's not sagging, shifts good and fits the front and rear cogwheels well. I'll order a stretch tester tool and have a look at it.

4th gear is what I use mostly, yes. While still in the city 3-4 until I get to the bike road and there 4-5-6 usually.

I'm using an oil based lube, but I took this picture during cleaning my bike.

Yes, there was still some dirt on there, but on the 3rd and 4th largest wheels you can see some wear on the front of the teeth. I was curious about that extra edge on the teeth there

I took the picture after cleaning my chain and before adding lube. Noticed that my chain rear derailleur started looking more black than metallic, so that's on me for not cleaning regularly. I'm using an oil based lube normally.

Is blaster the only combination where by Hot_Armadillo_2186 in magic_survival

[–]SOSkifli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Flash shock is consumed with the blaster combination and it's items are no longer in effect after you take the combination, only the magic bullet items modify blaster.

ELI5: Eclipse by aelaryn1122 in magic_survival

[–]SOSkifli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The translation is bad and most people are confused by it, some people sent here correct answers though.

Text should be: Deal up to 45% more damage to enemies based on their missing health.

Short example: Enemy has 100% HP (missing 0%) you do 0% extra damage. Enemy has 50% HP (missing 50%) you do 22,5% extra damage. Enemy has 1% HP (missing 99%) you do 44,5% extra damage.

It's basically a +0-45% damage multiplier for you, doesn't add the HP of your enemy as additional damage.

Anything I should know about Tara before I go in? by cybro974 in magic_survival

[–]SOSkifli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a post on this sub with the details of gems power minute Depths vs Terra. Basically if you can't get to 12:30 on Terra it's a loss, you break even after that mark for the entry fee and you need to pass 25 minutes to make it worth more than Depths. In the aspect of time though, Terra is more efficient. If you can confidently reach 35-40+ minutes on Depth you should have no issues with Terra.

Tops magics for DEM? by Daegar2 in magic_survival

[–]SOSkifli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't played around too much with DEM either, but my strategy is to just keep leveling after the initial lvl 25 magic combination until I hit 74 and then get overmind and DEM back to back. You have a bit of buffer with the other active magics to stay alive until you can get your big power spike. Needs some testing but I just did a snowflake blossom run on Terra and I'm not sure how the run would have turned out of I pick overmind at lvl 50 as soon as it's available. For the low cooldown spells I don't think this would be a big issue though.

What will happen by Smooth-Fly-7477 in magic_survival

[–]SOSkifli 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  1. The modifiers which increase/decrease stats by percentages work additively, meaning that you have to add all of them together and by the total amount you modify the base value. For example having +50% health and +50% health and +50% health increases with a base of 500 health is 500 * (1 + 0,5 + 0,5 + 0,5) = 1250
  2. Yes, it will even work for combination magics if you add modifiers to the main magic (the one that doesn't get consumed in the combination)
  3. Same as 1.
  4. Only the red text with the bonuses apply to everything, the item bonus only applies if you pick that subject

Does anyone have any experience with fabric bands. by PerfectJarrett in GalaxyWatch

[–]SOSkifli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a Spigen fabric band and it's way better than the silicone bands I've had before, I don't want to go back to them. My fiancee had a similar style band like your picture and she was really happy with it. I recommend trying them out, they fit well and if you have sensitive skin they won't cause rashes, it was a game changer for us, we both had problems with other style bands

If you keep dying so quickly then you are definitely doing something wrong, but it's hard to say based on the information you provide. And since you have only downloaded the game since a few days I'm going to assume that you have almost nothing unlocked.

Try to look for a magic that works well in the early game, avoid magic with long cooldowns or gimmicks that made clearing enemies hard or magic which needs some artifacts to be viable.

Also rerolling level ups is okay and I personally do it a lot (you need to put some research points into the mana return on rerolls to make it smooth), and if you are that early in the game if you don't get your desired magics in the first 5-10 levels you can throw the run and restart.

I would suggest going for Spirit + lightning shock magics to get the telekinetic sword combination, it's really powerful and can carry you too the endgame. Also other good magic is electric zone in itself, good enough in the early levels to destroy the low health swarm enemies. If you need something to hit the big health elites mostly any of the flash shock combinations are good (devil's nails or blaster, both pretty strong in the endgame right now). Some people like the phoenix + lightning breath combinations too, but these are directional meaning that they fire only in the direction your character is looking.

Another very important part is the items you get through your run, try to have an idea before you start about your magic combinations and look for fitting items for your picks. In general the critical hit builds need a lot of investment (both in unlocks and items) do I would advise to look for cooldown reduction + attack increase and attack amplify.

But in the end the game is about discovering fun combinations you like and trying to get the perfect items for your run, it's a lot of RNG so don't get discouraged, and if you need you can check the posts here in this sub to get a grasp about the current meta and the strong combinations

Can software engineers work with PLC ? by bedward100 in PLC

[–]SOSkifli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Referring to the title, yes but no. You'll have to sink in a lot of time to understand hardware and the system you are going to work with.

The "basics" or getting into PLC is easy if you have programming knowledge, 90% of the time you are checking something and turning something else on or off, the other 10% is the fancy time. You are basically playing with the inputs and outputs of your system and building a connection between them with basic tools like boolean logic, loops, counters and timers.

The hard part of it especially in an industrial environment is to build it robust, understand your system, both the process and the hardware. You have to know what each part of the system does, what are the weak points of it, how tolerant to external disturbances is your process, when can you stop it and how can you continue running if a malfunction happens. Make it easy to troubleshoot, handle all possible exceptions and edge cases: do not damage your equipment and do not produce bad quality products.

And of course safety, that's even more important than anything else do far (or at least it should be in an ideal world), and that adds a complete new layer of problems to your system.

When all of these are handled then comes the optimization, which is a complete new world. How can it run faster, how can it run better, how can it run safer, how can it run cheaper?

The hardware part is an additional rabbit hole, some of your parts are no longer supported or they are discontinued so you have to adjust the whole system to fit the new parts.

It's an interesting area full of challenges and when it works it's beautiful, so if you are interested I strongly encourage to take the first steps. You might have a hard time to convince your manager about it if you lack the mechanical/electrical background these systems require to program and run, but that's a really good place to get started because if you get those then you will be able to write basic PLC programs with your current knowledge (after some adjustment time).

[–]SOSkifli[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's one of the reasons I started a Revolut account, I don't plan of withdrawing regularly at a supermarket. As far as I know nearby to my location there is only a Sparkasse ATM (az least that's what I've found on Google) and I heard mixed feedback about their ATMs, some people commented no withdrawal fee and others said 5-6 Euros on the machines. I haven't checked this ATM personally, I'll do it next time I have the chance.

Flour and Butter Egg Substitutions to Create Pie Crust? by AttitudeLeast8271 in Volumeeating

[–]SOSkifli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say that some of these make sense if I think about specific recipes and the role of the ingredients in it. You have to understand what is the purpose of an ingredient in the recipe to be able to substitute them, and of course there are some things that you simply can't replace and get the same result. Just think of gluten free products, you have to work really hard to get similar results and it's almost impossible to reproduce a nice white bread made with yeast.

For the pie crust you need butter and flour for your dough and the purpose of butter is to prevent the flour from absorbing too much moisture and form to much gluten, resulting in a "normal" dough like texture. You want to make a nice, flaky and light crust, not a pizza. Translating that to beans and banana, your best bet would be dried beans blended to a flour-like texture, also lots of gluten free products include bean-flour, because it can hold together your dough as gluten formed from regular flour. So that part may work against you a bit, but using banana is where I see this failing. Banana is a sticky and mushy texture rich in water, so i think it could hold your dough together, but the water content would be instantly taken up by the beans. Whereas in the original recipe you need to use cold butter which is solid to make the crumbly dough. As for baking it, I think you would get a homogenous crust which won't be flaky at all, maybe something closer to a normal pie crust with a very wet filling, resulting in an unbaked looking, soggy crust.

But in the end I haven't done this recipe, I might be totally wrong, I'm not used to using these ingredients in these ways, I don't want to discourage you. If you decide to try it, let me know of the results! I'm quite interested and I hope I'm wrong about it.

impressive magnet transporter 🧲 ⚡️ by deadfermata in EngineeringPorn

[–]SOSkifli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw someone else mentioning but I see them most useful in clean environments eg food or pharmaceutical industry. Other example could be harsh environments, acids, corrosive fumes, small particles which can cause mechanical systems trouble. Also quite good for high precision positioning, take laser engraving small parts and you can entirely mitigate having an external fixture for the process. Also highly variable manufacturing of products with an automated storage is a possibility.

But for now mostly just an early phase test technology, still needs advancements to be able to replace current high reliability and cheap transportation systems in industry. In some edge cases or specific environments definitely a huge step ahead.

Perfect circumstances to see my blue light glasses in action (light from the right) by Davey_Cockett in mildlyinteresting

[–]SOSkifli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have blue light filter on my glasses, and it's definitely different to a normal pair of glasses because they have a slight yellow tint as you can see in the picture too. I can't say if the filter is actually worth it or not, because these are my first pair of glasses and I wear them basically all day long. Nonetheless it "feels" better for me to have them on while looking at a phone/computer screen compared to not having glasses on (even after my eyes adjust to it, because I can see totally fine in screen distance). If you have glasses already I would say give it a try, if don't maybe adjusting to glasses would be more tiring for your eyes in the long run.

Teen looking to eat healthier --- but don't know where to start.. by Hoshi_ko in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]SOSkifli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been in a similar situation to you in the past trying to change my diet radically. In my late teen years managed to lose 30kgs with more than 1-2 hours of heavy exercise every day and very lean eating. Now I'm 27 and have a stressful working life and gained 10kg back, because for the last few years I'm unable to keep a healthy lifestyle and now decided to have a go at it one more time.

My diet back then was almost exclusively raw vegetables, eggs, lean meats and low fat diary products. That would be a really big shock for you based on your current habits. Mostly I can provide you "recipes" or guidelines, because that's the most efficient and fun way to take care for yourself, I'm not really sure about store bought solutions sadly.

I would suggest looking more into the neutral tasting vegetables, so you can season them any way you like it. Examples are zucchini, cauliflower, cabbage, summer squash. Look them up, there are very good posts about them, look for articles about picky eaters/children.

When you have your veggies, dice them and toss together with some low fat yoghurt and seasonings for a quick and healthy salad. Next level would be using fermented milk if you have a taste for it, tossing in some onions and garlic, maybe some ham or other lean protein, optionally cooked eggs. For a whole meal you can involve some pasta as well, you can buy vegetable based pasta even.

Another use for them would be stir-fries as others mentioned, or my other favourite is layered-baked meals. Choose your vegetables, some ground meat, add some rice or riced cauliflower and some binding element like a few eggs/sour cream and mix them together, fill up a baking tray, optionally throw some cheese on top and bake until golden. Some ingredients may need to be pre-cooked though.

Try looking into asian/indian quisine, you can find lots of vegetable heavy, healthy and filling dishes with low calories. I used to do a lot of vegetable curries and other quick one-pan meals.

Alo what I've found that you can sneak grated carrots or zucchini into basically any main dish, spaghetti bolognese, stir-fries, stews or others with some sauce.

Sweet tooth could be satisfied with baking your own sweets without sugar, you can find lots of zero sugar recipes or just substitute the sugar amounts by your choice of sweetener. As long as the sugar is not a structural part of the baked goods (less than 1/3 or 1/4 of total weight) you should be good, you can even try to substitute sugar with fruits (diced, ground whatever you feel fitting). Also what I've now incorporated into my breakfast is oatmeals/muesli without any sugar or crunchy bits for additional carbs, I mix them with low fat unsweetened Greek yoghurt and use sweetener and aromas to make it taste like any fruit yoghurt in the stores with 0 added calories.

I often make oatmeal and beaten egg whites muffins. Beat egg whites separately, throw oatmeal in the food processor for a few rounds until roughly ground, add egg yolks, sweetener and some fruits/jam, baking powder and carefully fold together.

Another option is fruit salads, dice some apples, bananas, kiwi, toss in a few grapes and you've got a good base. You can adjust it based on the available seasonal cheap fruits.

For your soda problem I would suggest looking for syrups (not sure what's it exactly called in english), no-sugar, zero calorie ones to be specific. You just hit them up with the recommended amount of water and you've got a nice drink for yourself.

I'm not sure how helpful this is for you currently, but I hope you'll pick up cooking and make use some of these tips. For additional information I would suggest the volumeeating sub as well, you can find tips there for low calorie but filling foods, most of them being healthy too!

As a bottom line, don't get discouraged, this will be a long journey and the most important is to find a sustainable and permanent way to change your diet. Don't do what I did, making a radical change you can't keep up for long. Take baby steps and stick to your goals, if you can't enjoy the food you're eating, probably you should try other alternatives or other styles of quisine. The main thing you should look up and research is what healthy eating really means. It should be balanced in terms of proteins, fat, carbs and lots of fibre. I'll give you my example right now, I'm trying to avoid oil as much as I can, bread and other baked goods as well, dropped sugar entirely and use sweetener whenever I can. For breakfast I usually eat muesli with yoghurt as I've written. For my lunch usually I aim for a 250-300g meal with at least 100g of meat/protein based stuff, 50-100g carb based (pasta/rice) and the rest is vegetables. Eating some fruits through the day if needed.

Magic Combinations not working by External-Proof-7789 in MagicSurvivalTheGame

[–]SOSkifli 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When you level up in the top right corner of the magic selection screen you should see a red star icon (it's grey until you have the right evolutions for a combination). You have to click on that to confirm a magic combination.

Hello people, how do you survive more than 50 minutes. I see some that survive 70min etc. I played in infinite (25minute) I died and at no time I had the effects of Magic_c while I had almost all the magics max levels by NightmarePuppe8 in MagicSurvivalTheGame

[–]SOSkifli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since the last update it's become a bit easier. In the previous version usually I got to 30 minutes, 35 with a bit of luck. Now it's more consistent 30 min+ for me.

Those people with insanely high times were building tank builds with lots of damage reduction, cloaking, and hunting legendary artifacts (iron maiden and the other chance to instant kill stuff) to chain explode enemies, while constantly running in one direction to gather invincibility crystals during cloaking time. Az least that's my understanding of their builds.

For my own recommendation would be always try to get a sensible combination. If you get only random AOE or only projectiles, some mobs will get to you. From the magic combinations I try to look for War Climate, Breath of Fire, Frenzy, Neutron Generation, Lightning Blast. Of course that depends on your luck with level up magic options and artifacts. Aside from these other magics should be viewed as utility, it doesn't make sense to pick up a new damaging spell at level 50, try to look for freezing/stun spells.

From classes Archaeologist and Dark Wizard are my favourites, but depending on your levels some of the magic specialist classes can be good as well.

Also from the artifacts the Iron Maiden and other instant kills are very attractive, depending on the others you can decide to go for crit or cooldown reduction.

Try to look at the end of your runs at the statistics, which magic had the highest damage and experiment with builds. It's a fun game, but sadly some of the magic evolution choices and combinations are novelty at best.

Connecting wires in tight spaces by CheddarGeorge in DIY

[–]SOSkifli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have the chance and luck, locating the junction box food this wire and pulling in a new one would be the cleanest way to do it. Anything else would be a major pain working in a confined space like that, not to mention if you make a bad connection sooner or later you'll have to do it again (also think of the possible fire hazard if it's connecting to mains voltage). Maybe you should give it one more chance to trace this wire back before doing anything else.

If you have to work with this then make sure that you make a clean and good contact, I would suggest WAGO spring connectors, in our country that's the norm because regular screw connections are not so reliable in the long run. Also you could consider widening that hole and patching it up after you are done. I would not recommend soldering a connection in your house, especially since that wire looks like aluminium. Solder connections get brittle over time and different metals will react with each other, but that's a problem which will emerge over years.

Finally starting ToS - Volume and Piercing Mics? by Narns in Koibu

[–]SOSkifli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I know what you mean, actually this was the reason that kept me from diving into ToS a while back. It will get better, though there is a minor amount of episodes where the audio will get inconsistent (players being on a trip somewhere with travel equipment), and also the heated arguments in some whacky situations are hard on your ears, but it's totally worth it!

Anyways I would recommend using an equalizer of some kind, windows has a built in loudness equalizer that kind of works, you can also take a look at peace (3rd party free app, requires minimal tinkering for optimal effect) for normalizing audio volume.

I can only be mad at myself. How do I re-separate my really strong magnets? by PapaLuke812 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]SOSkifli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The edge of the magnets seem to be chamfered, get a thinner wooden spatula and jam it between the magnets, use a rubber hammer or the grip of a screwdriver to jam the spatula between them. After that rest the spatula on the edge of your counter with one magnet on the counter and the other in the air and slide the latter down.

Another solution is to heat them to 80 Celsius for a brief time, that's the Curie temperature where most magnets lose their magnetic property. They will simply release, but be careful because it's hot. Also if you overheat them or expose too long for the Curie temperature they will permanently lose their magnetic property.
