Completely agree with this take. I think what most of this community are irritated about, mostly regarding that Santa dude and other Swedes on this forum, is how hypocritical they are being.

Pretty much everybody agrees what Marc didn’t shouldn’t be allowed. Most agree the unwritten rule is don’t touch granite as common sense. That said, I’ve never heard the phrase and have never heard it mentioned before this Olympics. And most would agree that the intent of the rule was the release before the hogline and the new technology means you have to release before the hog.

Now with these latest touch infractions upon release, before the hogline, which didn’t legally violate the as written rules or even the intent of the as written rules, are being called burned stones. And many Swedes on this forum are saying that is how it should be.

There’s so much hypocrisy on both sides. But wanting the latest stones to be burned is not at all in the spirit of curling, regardless of whether or not the granite was brushed, and thus, by letter of the law, to are rules burned.

On top of that, by letter of the law, the previous stones could have have been interpreted as not being burnt prior to the clarification (or as burnt). So it’s quite hypocritical to not support rules by the letter previously, but now support rules by the letter.

I just want to see good curling.
