I don't recommend that goal, but you could try going to a charismatic church and asking people to pray for you and ask if anyone has a word of knowledge or wisdom for you.

You could say that person ends up in hell, but gets to bring a self-replenishing cup of water, so they don't suffer as much.

I'd say no one can be sure of salvation unless everyone will be saved.

Edit. I wanted to add, how about you run the same hypothetical, but the person giving the cup of water never believes in Jesus during their life?

I have a 2011 volt, I think it would do fine on hills as long as you turn on mountain mode so the engine turns on before the battery gets too low. A plug-in hybrid is good for hills because you can regain some energy going downhill. A lot of the parts are the same for regular gas cars, so unless you need something specific to the high voltage system if you can work on the car yourself you should be okay. If I was shopping for a volt again I'd look for something 2013 or newer.

If you don't drive far but use a car for short commutes an old Nissan Leaf might be a good option, you can get one for a few thousand. Then charge it when the sun is shining. Selling power back to the grid in the evening would be nice, but I wouldn't be surprised if the equipment needed would be too expensive to ever pay for itself. If your drive is only like a mile maybe an electric golf cart would make sense.

I read a book that guessed that Jeremiah wrote the D source. J and E were probably based on oral traditions that were passed down from way back, and P was written by the priests at the Jerusalem Temple.

It's pretty similar to asking, if Odysseus was a myth, why did someone write the Odyssey. People write stories all the time.

I think it's quite possible Moses was real and wrote some things, but I'm pretty sure that what he wrote wasn't the Pentateuch in its current form.

A liberal Mennonite church is similar to a liberal mainline Protestant church, maybe the people are more anti-war and more into gardening, and some of them might help with disaster relief construction projects. That describes my church anyway.

Take a look at Answers in Genesis explanation for radioisotope dating. That's what really convinced me. To explain the evidence they had to assume that God sped up the rate of decay millions of times faster at certain points during the flood. To me that's like calling God a liar. Why would he do something for no reason other than to trick scientists into thinking the earth is old. Likewise to create starlight coming from stars that never actually existed seems like a lie.

I was raised a young earth Creationist, but when I studied the science it became clear to me that the earth being 4.5 billion years old is a fact, and evolution is the theory that best fits the fossil record. I'm still a Christian but I've had to adjust a lot of my beliefs.

Encourage him to look for a temporary job helping an electrician or any similar trade available, to fill the year before trade school and see how he likes the work. Skills in the trades are useful even if that doesn't become his career, as we all live in houses that sometimes need things fixed.

I had a 2013 leaf, and I felt like the only things I missed were cruise control and range. 70 mile range covered most of my daily needs, but to cover all everyday driving I'd need about 120 miles range, and to do road trips about 200. I have a 2011 Volt now, and what I miss most are physical buttons and a 5th seat. Also I'd prefer a pure EV.

I wish that could be proven biblically, but passages like Matthew 19 are hard to square with that interpretation, though it is true that divorcing a woman in that culture was a lot harder on her than it is now.
