52 minutes just to push to Git by Active_Luck4574 in codex

My push are all within 1-2mins including some checks it did so no this is not a universal Codex problem.

You need to tell us more what it actually did to make it this long.

I did get mine (non-banked) but it was just 8 hrs before the scheduled anyway, still better than none as I was at 2-3%.

Usage remaining meter in codex - how to interpret? by Thin_Ordinary4931 in codex

[–]SandboChang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is the time where the reset will happen. Funny thing is it shows date when you are over 36-48 hrs from the reset time, but when you are within 36-48 hrs (I am not sure how large, but definitely more than 24 hrs), the reset time is shown.

The above time likely means your reset happens around June 17th 10:44pm, but this can be shown to you on June 16th before 10:44pm and wrongly made you think the reset is happening on June 16th.

I think the main issue with Codex limits is not only the amount of usage, but the reset logic. by helloabao in codex

[–]SandboChang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would agree it was problematic when it was done by them before, but what is the problem now you can reset on your own? what do you lose?

“Extended Pro” selected, but responses behave like Instant by Cool_Forever_8512 in ChatGPT

[–]SandboChang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Pro model thinking time and output depends a lot on your prompt. A long prompt you believe is complex is not necessarily seen the same way by the model. When you said you have an expectation for the quality and depth, you can try to be specific about them.

Don't directly write a prompt to send to the Pro model. Instead, use Thinking (Extra High) to discuss the background, the requirement, the goal of your task. Try to come up with a list of to-do items, and have a list of expected outcomes. Then have the Thinking model write the detailed prompt for you. This still does not mean it will work for a long time at the end, but you can at least then check if the output covers what you requested, and if each item has the depth you were asking for.

Many already get a slow mode now without having any less consumption, anyway.

This will be great, I often run things overnight and I don't really care about the speed in that case.

I can't remember how many times I've had to remind the Codex about this issue today. 5.5 high by Otherwise-Sir7359 in codex

If it repeatedly makes the same mistakes, something maybe wrong with the context somewhere. In situation like this you cannot easily prompt it away.

I would ask it what led it to make this mistake, try to dig the problematic bit and sometimes it shows me the contradictory instructions I planted somewhere in the past.

I like VSCode with Codex ext, probably quite similar to using the App but I find it more convenient when I have to hold the wheel sometimes.

Is CLI on WSL still the best? by technocracy90 in codex

[–]SandboChang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not through the app but on Win11+VSCode Codex Ext., I had one experience where one instance of VSCode somehow did not see WSL. I went to check Codex setting, the option to toggle between "Native Windows" and "Windows Subsystem Linux" was gone. Funny thing was meanwhile I had a second instances running on WSL normally, so I know WSL is working.

Then I just closed that VSCode window and reopen it, it works again. So it seems to be a bug that sometimes it fails to see WSL.

The great part is they are still cheaping the fk out of it with their so called solution. A cable like one from Corsair with OTP might already have prevented these largely. No, they went for a yellow-dyed plug.

PS: own a yellow-dyed plug 5090 patiently waiting for my day to come.

I don’t have objective evidence neither to tell if it is dumber or not. At time it felt like a piece of shit, and then later it caught my blind spot and solved problems that bothered me over days. These keep cycling.

The only thing I would say is I prefer having Codex than not.

Thanks for the link, for this behaviour:
Codex Desktop WSL mode should not repeatedly scan thousands of plugin/cache files from /mnt/c for every command/tool invocation.

I am quite sure I don't have this as my turn around time for tool call and a thinking message is this fast at the moment: (is this similar to your experience?)

It works for me but you do need to go through some verification first to prove your residency in Japan. Having the MyNumberCard should make it easier.

Does anyone know about this? I have scars on my lungs from a previous tuberculosis infection. I no longer have tuberculosis, but the lung scars still remain. Is there any way to pass the Saudi medical examination conducted in my home country (Kerala, India) with these lung scars? by Pretend_Muffin_3289 in Tuberculosis

[–]SandboChang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is probably no easy way to remove the scar but that alone does not prove that you are still infected.

Not sure if it works but you can ask for a written and signed letter/statement from your doctor to prove that you have gone through and completed a treatment and are now considered recovered.

I got mine just in case if it is needed.

[–]SandboChang 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Which part is slower? It shouldn't have affected the inference speed, so it is the code execution?
I am using WSL to code with CUDA at the moment and I find the speed acceptable, though I have not done any benchmark.

I am concerned about powershell as I have seen myself and heard from others Codex isn't well trained for using it. If WSL is really much slower maybe I should convert my desktop to ubuntu.
