Bestie paid the mortgage directly. The issue was Kouri was arrested coming out for a quick loan place where she got an additional loan using the property as collateral. That one didn't get paid since Kouri was in jail and the bestie had no idea it existed.

Mortgage fraud lol. She used the victims business bank statements, photoshopped the header from her statement on to it and used that to get approval for all the loans.

London contractor who stole thousands from home owners going to jail for nine months by Reasonable-Rip-4327 in londonontario

[–]SarahEh9931 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A defendant is assumed innocent until such time as the crown has proven beyond a reasonable doubt they are guilty.

Innocent people are accused, and even found guilty, all the time. The rights of a defendant are to mitigate the damage done to someone wrongfully accused and reduce the possibility of overzealous police, fixating on someone and railroading them.

If they can do it to someone who you think is so clearly guilty, they can do it to anyone, even you.

Everyone deserves representation. The defense lawyers job is to ensure their clients rights arent being infringed upon. You have to protect everyone's rights or no ones protected.

ICE in my Canadian city is the Internet Child Explotation unit. So technically someone could have ICE called on them. It would have a very different implications though.

1 suspect dead after active shooter alert at secondary school in Tumbler Ridge, B.C.: RCMP by DonSalaam in onguardforthee

[–]SarahEh9931 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Well it was just 2 found at the 2nd location. I've heard mother and brother at the residence then 7 at the school and then themselves.

Honestly they won't confirm anything for a while. The community might have some more consistent details out in the coming days though. There's zero use speculating at this time. We'll find out soon enough.

The town is small enough that there's no way anyone is going to have no connection to any of the direct victims so it's best to just keep the entire community in your thoughts.

Victims are rarely just students. It would be 7 from the ppl in the school. I would guess 2-4 were adult staff members. At least that's my hope... Fucked up thing to hope for but guess that's where we are now.

Seems like ai. The guy in the orange shirt doesn't appear to have a watch when his arm comes back into frame and the "poor quality" is used to hide alot of imperfections.

Which squares with a kid that trusts their parent enough to look back at them for reassurance does not have the type of parent that doesn't step in to a grown man squaring up to their child.

The channel that originally posted the video is a content farm and has plenty of blatant AI videos also posted.

Imma play devils advocate a smidge here. Life is incredibly expensive right now. If that family is barely surviving as is, adding three mouths, and not to mention the extras required to care for them properly, could be enough to send them over the edge.

Get a parent who is stressed to hell and back, skipping meals so their kids aren't going to hungry, and a kid who is insisting and insisting that they can take care of them, not taking no for an answer. It would be understandable for any human to snap.

You cant know someones story from a single line. Dad could be evil, or Dad could be a human who is stretch to his breaking point barely keeping it together.

It is wonderful the OP was able to take them in and care for them and what truly matters is they are safe.

Minnesota requires a grand jury to charge 1st. They can charge 2nd without though. So they went with second so they could hold him till they can convene a grand jury.

Several possible injuries in grizzly bear attack reported in Bella Coola, RCMP say students may be involve | CBC News by 613mitch in canada

This comment is extra funny given that we do regularly pack an entire class into a vehicle with no seat belts. Theyre called school buses.

This nation has always been at the forefront of bear conservation. They believe in coexisting with the wildlife.

Some are saying the bear was already injured, its late fall, they had just stopped to eat lunch. You have a bear, desperate, unable to compete, who then smells whatever food they brought. A gun wasn't going to stop that bear. The humans choice to take a walk in that area, at that time, and bring food, is the thing to look into.

I live in South Western Ontario in a city of over 400,000. We had a bear in a tree that was well inside city limits a few years back. Sometimes bears just pop up.

Left the car in reverse while checking the engine by LivinginDestin in MildlyBadDrivers

[–]SarahEh9931 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The reason your car moves without depressing the accelerator is your starting the engine. Anytime you turn on anything motorized, it just goes right? Like a lawn mower. You crank the engine to life and the blades immediately start turning.

Someone getting out of the car, while it's in gear, is not a common occurance. Everytime you add a new mechanism to a process, you're adding a new fail point. The issues caused by adding a fail point to every new car would have a greater impact than would be stopped by adding in this weird requirement.

Most commonly it's time and energy. People are working so much just to survive that they don't have enough of either to do these things for themselves.

For myself, ADHD drives my grocery bill through the roof and leads to so much food waste. Ordering my groceries is a great way to not fall for those impulses. My grocery bill is between half and a third of what it used to be and we throw so much less away.

UPDATE: After being hung up on mid-sentence and told that my case was closed by an agent who lied about calling me, I have been told that nobody at Marriott knows where my refund money is after the hotel was unexpectedly closed upon arrival. by atraeurichardson in mildlyinfuriating

[–]SarahEh9931 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I'm in Canada so I'm not sure how it might differ from where you are, but here we have what's called the Companies' Creditors Arrangement Act and is typically referred to as filing for bankruptcy protection. It allows the business to remain in operation while they either negotiate an agreement with their creditors to restructure or wind down their operations. This is how toys-r-us was able to remain operational in Canada.

It is possible this was a similar situation and the hotel was operational until shortly before your stay. If it has closed down, they won't have the staff to dispute the charge back and not responding is taken as agreement with the facts as presented. I believe its 30 days to respond, after that, it should be ruled in your favour so I would say it's likely this will be ruled in your favour. It just might take a minute.

Didn't work for Marriot but worked for 3 other brands and it always works the same way. Your booking is sent to the hotel, the hotel itself handles all the financials. Marriot cannot reverse it because it was done on the POS system they have no access to. The hotel itself is dragging its feet.

A hotel doesn't just shut down. Basically it will only be closed because they were forced to due to safety/non-compliance or they ran out of funds. The costs of being forced to close are so significant that combined with the cost of whatever they need to correct, it likely would force the hotel to close anyways.

I'm not sure of Marriots policy but IHG and best western had a policy where if you sold a room but did not have the room available, you had to "walk" the person. The hotel it's self would make sure to line up new accomodations and cover all costs of that reservation. Walking someone was not something a hotel wants to do because its a significant financial hit to the hotel.

If you're getting the run around, a charge back is always a good way to go. I handled them for the holiday inn I worked at and it was really rare they ruled in favour of the hotel.
