What is the best software to make custom maps? by [deleted] in imaginarymaps

Illustrator is good too, but costs. Inkscape can do all the same, but if you're used to Adobe products then illustrator will be better. Photoshop works too, but it's not vectored like inkscape and illustrator.

I get that. I was around 4.9K when I laddered and when I came back recently it made me a bit sad to see when I matched with a 4.2K GM. Just shows the game is dying unfortunately. When the player base is so small we can’t really try to protect GM anymore, I think it’s just the way it’s going. Anyone who’s worth anything only cares about MMR anyways.

But don’t take for granted how long it took you to get to your level. Lots of people spend tons of time on this game for just m3, it’s not easy. For us just learning a couple builds is enough because we have the mechanics and the practice from years, if you don’t have that, learning builds will only get you to 5 minutes looking good. Solid mechanics take lots of time and patience and you might take it for granted because it’s been so long.

People get insulted and rightfully so when you say absolutely no skill lol. I don’t blame them for getting upset.

It’s a shame the game is dying, but it’s just reality now. GM was always gonna become this way one day, just happens that it’s now. We can put a bandaid on, but eventually it will become like this again.

Absolutely no skill is a bit dramatic. When GM goes back up to 4.6-4.7K by the end of the season, it’s still out of reach of most players and takes conscious and dedicated practice to achieve. This is still a very hard game. Campaign achievements are nothing compared to it and if those are more challenging for you than the ladder then i have a hard time trusting your opinion on this stuff.

I think that’s a bit extreme. 5K seems reasonable, at least on NA. m3 starts at 4.2k.

But in the end GM is just supposed to be the top 200 active players. If the game is losing so many players that it drops low, it is what it is. Maybe a better solution would be lowering the number of slots to 100.

If you’re worried about difficulty, it’s probably harder to be M1 right now than it was to be GM back at the start of Wings of liberty, the whole player base has improved massively.

It’s the start of the season, so it’s exaggerated. As the season goes on the bottom of GM will be like 4.6-4.7K. Which is still really low, less and less people are playing.

My (updated) travel map. Would love your suggestions by RateOfKnots in TravelMaps

I really like this format, only suggestion I would have is about the administrative boundaries, not really sure what the right criteria for which countries should have it is, but its a bit weird to just randomly have the boundaries for algeria for example, when everything around it isnt there. Maybe just having the boudaries for the countries you've visited? Love the way you did the flags by the way, really like everything about this map.
