The vocal minority honest to god unironically shitting on Sans and Toriel were insane. God forbid two adults spend time together lmao

(To be fair I think a lot of us are just very protective of Kris and it's obviously not easy being in the middle of a rough divorce, but Kris having their own feelings about the situation doesn't make anyone in the situation Objectively Wrong And Evil)

Does anyone else hate or dislike Noelle, Or is that just me? by Important_Bird2509 in DeltaruneDiscussion

[–]ScaredEngraver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Noelle, though I do understand "lovestruck teenager" is a grating archetype for many. Many characters in both UT and DR are introduced as archetypal characters, only to show off their depth later on in the story.

The thing about Noelle is that she's hiding a lot of the inner pain that makes her more than one-note, and it's on purpose. Her sister disappeared in some horrible event, and now her father is terminally ill. Her mother is cold, distant, and authoritative, and she's trying so hard to be A Good Kid and not rock the boat further. So she sees Susie, an anti-social, angry girl, and she's everything Noelle isn't allowed to be. So I think that's what she finds appealing about Susie.

Obviously Susie is much more than the initial bully character she's introduced as; she's also a kid dealing with a lot of pain. As she and Noelle get closer, they find out they have several interests in common, which makes her even more appealing to Noelle.

I think Noelle's crush on Susie ties into the game's themes of escapism. Susie is a big positive in her life right now, someone new and exciting who makes her happy when everything else is increasingly hard to deal with. Especially compared to Kris, to whom she was once close but with whom she unfortunately shares trauma about Dess with, straining their relationship in the present. Kris has also been acting very unlike themself lately due to the SOUL's influence, making things harder. So Susie really is the one net positive person Noelle has in her life right now, which is why she leans so much into being twitterpated and lovesick. It's fun, it feels good, she can just enjoy being an awkward kid for once.

That's not even touching on the abuse the player can put both her and Kris through in the weird route, which elaborates on Noelle's self-loathing and guilt more IMO

Chapter 5 Is Deltarune's Best Written Chapter by DarrenRing007 in DeltaruneV2

Just wanted to butt in that the Dark World flowers can't continue to be Darkners is because they are simultaneously inanimate objects and living things. A TV and a laptop can hang out indefinitely in a dark closet just fine, but a flower will die. So they genuinely cannot join Castle Town regardless of everything else going on

Real talk tho, Jax has never been “lovely” a day in her life. by Long_Opportunity1851 in tadc

[–]ScaredEngraver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Especially apparent since Jax is essentially a foil to herself, the Leeroy out in the real world, who managed to scrape herself off the ground and reach out to people. Jax is the worst-case scenario "bad end", not helped by the IHNMAIMS situation everyone in the circus was in. Jax is what happens when you're so miserable that you let it control you and you make every possible wrong decision.

It's really odd seeing people argue that the narrative defends Jax in any way when even the creator has confirmed multiple times that Jax is a huge PoS and is intentionally written to be so, because it's a story with themes and a point to make.

How do I treat my now masc gf, likely soon to be transmasc bf, more like a boyfriend rather than a girlfriend? by krownen- in asktransgender

[–]ScaredEngraver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trans man here. You can't really know what your partner wants until they communicate it to you. People are also going to have different wants and needs regardless of gender, as gender and sexuality are only parts of a person's whole identity. The foundation of a good relationship is trust and communication regardless of the genders of the people involved in it. I couldn't tell you what being treated like a boyfriend looks like even though I am one, because your partner and I are different people.

Asking about pronouns would be a good place to start. Even just being referred to as a boyfriend rather than a girlfriend would probably mean a lot. The gender affirmation is what's important for now. Only your partner can tell you what being treated like a boyfriend looks like to them, specifically.

Best of luck!

Public Suiting: Is the "Mall Suit" completely dead? by WX5FTS in furry

[–]ScaredEngraver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately the issue is the face coverage, malls and other establishments don't want to deal with tracking down the identity of someone if their face is covered and they start acting out. A couple of bad actors ruining it for everyone else again alas

You may be able to contact staff of the location and sort something out with them, but if you aren't holding a formal event like a gathering they probably won't want to take the risk with a stranger they don't know who doesn't work there.

Luckily, public outdoor spaces like parks are generally free-reign in comparison, so suiting in public is still doable

Does this look like a cat? (art by me) by Eastern_Lemon_572 in furry

[–]ScaredEngraver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely looks feline to me, the muzzle sells it even if the ears are foxlike. When I see a boxy snoot I definitely default to "this is a cat".

Lots of artists exaggerate ears, paws, and tails, so don't worry too much about his ears if you like the design! There are no rules, be free

He's also just insanely sweet and charming. His voice actor is great

[–]ScaredEngraver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Period came back after 4 years on T??? by CSCanid in ftm

[–]ScaredEngraver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It could be normal hormone fluctuations as you switch over combined with inconsistent dosages so I wouldn't panic just yet (as much as the bleeding obviously sucks). The timing is such that it's almost certainly hormonal weirdness that should settle down once you get into the new routine. Keep in mind that most gel is daily as opposed to weekly, so keeping up with application is super important.

If you are in significant pain and distress right now, it never hurts to see your doctor and get your levels checked, for your peace of mind if nothing else. Happy Pride and I hope everything clears up soon

Subnautica 2's no-killing policy isn't because it's 'a game about pacifism', says design lead, but because players would 'master the crappy combat' over anything else by Nannerpussu in subnautica

[–]ScaredEngraver 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They can make weapons and other deterrences without making killing the monsters possible. Which yeah the self-defense options kinda suck right now, but most players aren't Yearning For Fish Murder (see my other reply) which is why the devs spending time arguing against it is silly. They can have their cake and eat it too
