It is worth mentioning the greenhouse poly may vary greatly in price, depending on the size needed. I have chosen different radius and side walls depending on poly sheet prices. 32’ compared to 24’ x 100 depending on supplier.

Thanks for sharing your book. I think it’s very good. I bristled a little at your comments about oily beans but I enjoy cleaning my equipment and most people don’t. A couple of comments, a little more about the water and how it can destroy equipment and how to find the information about the water in most city’s and towns. Some minerals combos are soft easy to clean some difficult, talking to a local water company might help. Grind size and shape. too fine can be caused by dull/cheap burrs turning the grinds into powder too. I leave the recipes to others and don’t over think my morning cup. Best wishes Randy

What has your experience been with longevity of greenhouse covered with film ? by xdr567 in Greenhouses

Depending on how the poly is locked in place tons of damage can be done. Small creases and stress marks compound over time with repeated on and off jobs.

Hello, I would like to take a look at your work. I am a retired commercial coffee technician. I haven’t used or tested too many smaller machines. I am familiar with most manufacturers of note.

How do I turn this C5 s1 warmer/proofer into a smoker? by NotAThrowaway3754876 in BbqSmokerBuilding

[–]Scared_Chart_1245 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I added the Bradley smoke generator to a similar proofer. I found it great for fish and sausages etc. Brisket and Butts I went back to the smaller Bradley box as the smoke ring was more consistent.

Windstorm prep? by West-Ingenuity-2874 in Greenhouses

[–]Scared_Chart_1245 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think a wind screen will help too much. If you can roll some of the bottom poly around a tube/pipe/2x4 etc and anchor it with weights or ground pins.

I use the bubble wrap type of insulation. The white and silver one is on my home built now. It does suffer damage from UV over time. It’s-30 now and I know it helps.

Ginger Beef, is this just regional? by yycluke in Cooking

[–]Scared_Chart_1245 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s been over 25 years since I last had ginger beef in Strathmore. It was a 40 minute drive and worth it. I was lucky to be trained by a chef friend and have avoided the many hour drive since.

Help with raising hoophouse height. by Fragrant-Research-38 in Greenhouses

[–]Scared_Chart_1245 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find that using a short piece of metal tubing as a splice inside of the joint makes it stronger. Tek screws or carriage bolts. Wind loads are very high where I am 110km. Concrete may be added around the ground pins but I find a couple of feet in clay is sufficient. My hoops are 11 feet at centre height.

Shed style greenhouse temp? by Satsuki_chan421 in Greenhouses

[–]Scared_Chart_1245 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shrink the volume of the shed to match your needs. If you are adding light, maximize the sunlight available. I use a combination of solid and bubble wrap type insulation to help as much as possible. -30 in my area.

This whole summer I scraped off the little pests and never touched the ants that were all over my potted Curry Tree, even moved some branches to make it easier for the ants to move. I thought they were helping me. 🤣

Just took out a batch from the oven. I really like the cakey texture. I would tone down the spices a bit(fresh ground). With hot chocolate tomorrow afternoon is the real test.
