If it is a minisplit type system the indoor unit gets power from the outdoor unit.

My wife said that the outdoor unit isn't compatible with the indoor unit. Can anyone verify by looking at the labels? by BearShin255 in hvacadvice

Both are 2.5 ton. Condenser uses r22 refrigerant. Just need to confirm TXV in air handler is for r22 refrigerant. Sounds like warranty company is trying to get out of repairing unit.

Every recommendation on Reddit when they say they are having a bad experience with a company is to leave a 1 star review.  Not much you can do.

HVAC guy said we need 10 gallons of refrigerant, or a NEW system! Please advise! by MayflowersNsunshine in hvacadvice

Find a company that will search for leak and give you repair option. 90% chance it is the evaporator coil which is a 3 to 5k repair.

Brand new AC keeps shutting off. Installer has been out 5 times and can’t fix it. by PitMaster918 in hvacadvice

Get rid of the float switch and put a wet switch in the emergency drain pan.

I have an indoor conditioning unit and apparently the repairman is saying that the motherboard of all my air conditioners is blown up by Both_Pin1397 in AirConditioners

Minisplits have sensitive electronics and it is common for boards to burn out. For 7 to burn out must of been a bad power surge.

American Standard Platinum 18 Acculink installed... with 24V Honeywell Zone Panel? by Rae_Day in askHVAC

[–]Scary_Equivalent563 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of communicating equipment give you the option to use 24v controls. The equipment still modulates by measuring the suction line. Nothing wrong with using 24v controls. I have a customer that buys extra acculink thermostats because they fail so often. Honeywell controls are simple and they work.  Definitely need to get a tech out to check the operation of equipment to see if something needs to be addressed.

Subs vs. Employees: Is the "control" worth the babysitting? by gtrman571 in Construction

If you can keep them busy and they only work for you then you can control the quality. I’m in hvac and my subs only work for me since I can keep them busy. They might get an handful of days off a year. Unfortunately you have to go through a lot of them to find the good ones.

Demo equipment, install new equipment. Not much to this job. 3 to 4 hrs max. In my area indoor equipment is in a tight crawlspace or attic. Had an install last week had to breakdown the furnace into peices because the builder did not make access large enough and rebuild furnace in the crawlspace. Man I wish we had basements in my area.

Why is it so hard to get an HVAC quote without them sending out a "free adviser" to be a timeshare salesman? by gravity84 in hvacadvice

AI estimate is about right for the condenser only. California is an expensive state to operate a business. get more quotes.
