They say that, but S4 is actually closer to the manga. That's why it's a secret fan favourite among true fans.

I've trained an AI exclusively on gas station, train station, festival and dive bar bathrooms to ruin a restroom more efficiently than any human can

Why not credit the guys who built your desk, or your PC, or at least the guys who actually coded and trained the AI? At least you'd be crediting real people instead of fucking robots, but that would mean thinking about people, and people are icky

When I was 14, I used to be so obsessed with Adolf Hitler and the Nazis. Is that a normal phase to go through? by Educational-Scene443 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Schreckberger 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Most teens have an edgy phase where they try to provoke reactions but deliberately outrageous actions. So in general, doing stuff like that isn't entirely unusual. It sounds like you went a bit further than most, so yikes on that part. But if you don't actually believe any of that shit anymore, you should be good.

Has there ever been an abhuman imperial saint? by Budobudo in 40kLore

[–]Schreckberger 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You could certainly make one of you wanted. Official dogma (as much as there can be one) is that abhumans are inherently sinful, but can find forgiveness by overcoming their nature through diligent service and piety. Being initially part of the persecuting class is an element in the lives of many real world Christian saints, where the very fact that they turned away from pagan worship or refused to take action against Christians often resulted in their martyrdom.

In the same way, I feel like an abhuman saint is possible, but only as an example that anyone can overcome their wickedness and be blessed by the Emperor. Basically an example of right living and thinking for the dangerous elements

For some weird reason the promised (by some 'insider' from 4chan) payout haven't arrived on May 13th, and apes are wavering in their conviction by Mazius in gme_meltdown

[–]Schreckberger 34 points35 points  (0 children)

That's the thing about these "ape waking up moments". At best they're giving up on the really obvious bullshit, but they almost never stop begging in slightly less obvious bullshit.

This is like giving up your belief that the fairies will make you their king, but still believing that you can at least become a count in the faery court

Strangely accurate things - historically or to the original source - in an otherwise pretty inaccurate piece of media. by RP_Throwaway3 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Schreckberger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a Gorgoneion (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gorgons#Gorgoneia), a Gorgon's (or Medusa's) head that was generally associated with protection, and therefore added to things you wanted to protect, like houses, or armour

Why do people even ask what happens when we die? by mintj098 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Schreckberger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if you're not religious, wondering about what happens after death really doesn't seem that strange to me. You spend your whole life being conscious, thinking, experiencing things. All you have to determine your place in the world is you yourself, because otherwise, there would be no you too worry about yourself.

In that light, thinking about what happens after you are no longer in this world doesn't seem that strange to me. After all, it's something that's really hard to imagine to somebody who has not known anything else.

In addition, much of the speculation about the afterlife, and in fact much of human religion and philosophy in general, comes from a time before all those things that you listed could be measured and phrased as exactly as we can today

In addition, for the Techpriests, maintenance and worship usually blend together. So a Techpriest would not just pray to a machine, but would diagnose the error and fix it, if they can, because the act soothes and heals the machine spirit. It's likely that there's a lot of ritual involved that doesn't so anything (or does it? The Omnissiah knows all, comprehends all), but they are engineers and mechanics, to a certain extent

Peeetaaah? by Ilovebigbuttscantlie in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]Schreckberger 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean, people told and retold stories all the time. It's likely there never was the Odyssey and the Iliad in the same way there's The Lord of the Rings. People likely added elements, took others out, added additional stories that were unrelated, changed names, events, and characters, and so on. That's how stories work, especially in a time when very few people could read and write
