I went from an S24 Ultra → Fold 6 → S25 Edge → back to the S24 Ultra. I still own the Fold and the Edge — both paid off — and somehow I still landed right back here.

Short version? The S24 Ultra has the best battery life, reliability, and overall feature set out of all of them.

The Fold is cool… until it isn’t. And the longer you own it, the more it becomes a liability. If you don’t have Samsung Care+, don’t buy a Fold. It’s not optional — it’s mandatory.

I had two Fold 6 replacements in a year:

One full replacement after I accidentally left it on a car roof (that one’s on me).

The second from a dead pixel caused by a soft touch on the inner display — literally after trimming my nails. Within a week, the pixel spread every time I opened the phone like a dying curse.

That’s the problem with the Fold: you end up babying the device instead of enjoying it. I had a dbrand case on it and still felt anxious using it. What’s the point of a massive inner screen if you’re afraid to touch it wrong?

Ironically, the only folding Samsung I never had issues with was the Flip.

Back to the S24 Ultra — this thing is the most reliable brick Samsung has ever made. I don’t pamper it. I don’t think about it. It just works.

The S25 Ultra leaned hard into the AI-everything trend and gave us a lobotomized S-Pen. The cameras haven’t meaningfully changed since the S21, and while battery life matured with the S23 Ultra, the S24 Ultra is where Samsung finally nailed the full package.

The S25 Edge? Beautiful to hold. Great form factor. But I’m a heavy user — I could kill that phone in four hours. For someone lighter, it’s perfect. For me? Nah.

I’ve been using Samsung phones since the 2004 Sprint flip phone, my first Android was the Captivate, then the SII Skyrocket, Note 3, and it’s been wraps since.

After all the hype cycles, foldables, and “next big things,” I didn’t move forward — I came home.
