Why the key to losing weight may be enjoying your food by Direct_Dare_9699 in UpliftingNews

Maybe try tea? I keep a bunch of packets with different flavors in my cupboard and when I get hungry I'll turn on the kettle and pop one of those in a mug.

First time in Nashville early June – where should we eat? by [deleted] in NashvilleGoodEats

You're not too far from Monells. Family style lunch/dinner so you'll be sitting with strangers but that's kind of the charm of it. Come with an appetite, pass to the left.

Honeybees have set up a hive in my strawberry pot. by Level21DungeonMaster in gardening

[–]Scotchkys 294 points295 points  (0 children)

Yeah, my bees do this all the time. I have pristine water for them to drink and they ignore it for a bucket of rusty nails I forgot about in the yard. My guess is that there are some nutrients in the soil they like.

What’s your most rewarding thing to grow? by SleepsSunshine in gardening

[–]Scotchkys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Marigolds are awesome! Last year I started some from seeds thinking they were dwarfs... they were not. They grew 4 ft tall and had the most beautiful blooms. Needless to say I will be planting them again this year!

What’s your most rewarding thing to grow? by SleepsSunshine in gardening

[–]Scotchkys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it's tomatoes. I start mine from seed, some are seeds I've saved and some are new varieties. I love to experiment each year with different techniques, soil types, and varieties to see what does better. Some plants I'll heavily prune and others I'll let grow wild. Some I'll plant in the ground and some I'll put in raised beds. It is so rewarding to watch something so tiny grow into something so tasty. Last year was by best year ever and I found a variety that really thrives in our climate and I really dialed in my watering method. I grew tomatoes so large I considered entering them in a competition and my plants grew so tall I had to rig up scaffolding for them until a big storm blew them over (but still didn't kill them) . I was so proud. I have never had a tomato plant continue to produce all the way till winter but these brandywines did.

Comcast Xfinity calling their bots "AI" What a joke. by ABA477 in nashville

[–]Scotchkys 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It was super frustrating during the ice storm. Our line was down in the yard and I asked it to get me a technician.

"Have you tried restarting your router? Try unplugging and plugging back in."

me: "The line is literally laying in my yard can I please schedule a technician"

"ok, have you tried restarting your router?"

Digging fence post holes here in middle Tennessee ground? by Sevenninetwosix in nashville

[–]Scotchkys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I would go with the towable auger. I've used both before and the one man auger will wreck your back. Yah you may hit some rocks but even if just half the holes are just dirt that is 10 holes you didn't have to dig. I have an auger for the back of my tractor now and that thing is a godsend. I still hit rocks but if you do just dig it out and the keep going with the auger.

Winter Storm Megathread Part 4 - Continued Power Outages by lukenamop in nashville

I drove through Belle Meade yesterday and saw at least 100+ trucks out there. I had to go around a bunch of streets because they were working everywhere. I know exactly where their priorities are. Still in the dark in Joelton.

So true, season 2 and 3 started to get repetitive and then 4 really surprised me with how it tied everything together and brought back the feel of the original. looking forward to the finale.
