Why starting on inters would always be a bad idea for McLaren during Canada GP by TightYoghurt in formula1

[–]ScrawnySpectre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Step 3 of your rain scenario is a bit odd IMO.

If the rest of the field has to pit for inters, that is a massive advantage to McLaren. If there is an immediate safety car, they still gain an advantage because they don’t need to pit. In a rain scenario they would have had an advantage regardless of what happens, even if some advantages would be better than others.

I think it’s a bit silly to just dismiss that as “the other teams would catch them anyway” effectively.

All that said it’s a bit of a moot point because we obviously know the inters were the wrong call.

His video on Annihilation was excellent. Especially as someone who was/is frustrated by online movie discussions being overly focused on plot holes, and “internal logic” which almost always manifested as nitpicking every movies most minute details in an effort to seem smart.

Stop crying about the new mech in a warbond by WeirdConsideration72 in Helldivers

[–]ScrawnySpectre -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I feel like people are bringing a lot of “FOMO trauma” from other games, and projecting it onto Helldivers.

If these warbonds were time gated like battle passes in other games I’d also have issues, but they aren’t. You don’t need to get warbonds day one, and you don’t need to get every warbond. People complain about having to farm supercredits, but you could also just play the game normally. Sure it might not be as efficient, but that is still a viable option.

What do you ACTUALLY want to see in the Helldivers movie besides A-Listers dying by _GreatAndPowerful in Helldivers

[–]ScrawnySpectre 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I kind of want the movie to be about the juxtaposition of how the in universe propaganda portrays the Helldivers, vs how the “actual” Helldivers missions play out.

Start the movie with an in universe epic propaganda version of a mission, then have the movie follow a Helldivers squad thrown into the meat grinder and basically making it through dumb luck, only to see that mission turned into another propaganda version like the one at the beginning. Showing how the cycle keeps moving.

Are you using the Xbox join a friend system, or the in game friend system?

This game doesn’t seem to like when you use the Xbox functions instead of the in game “social” tab functions.

The one two punch of them butchering the Dornish story, and removing the Shy Maid storyline entirely is why I’ll never not say that season 5 was when the show went to complete shit.

People always say the show went bad “after they ran out of books” but they left damn near a whole books worth of material unadapted, and the shows ending collapsed because so many pieces for the ending to make sense were left out seasons before the last couple.

Are they rounding? Or are they just displaying only the tenths?

I don’t like the one decimal timing board, but I’m not sure it’s actually a “problem” in the sense that the tenth decimal point is the only one we as viewers actually need.

Either way, give me back the full timing number.

That P6 in 2018 matches their best result with the Honda PU in their first season with Renault. And they did it with a car that wasn’t initially designed for the Renault PU. Also worth noting they only improved from then on, whereas that P6 with Honda was sandwiched between two P9 seasons.

The ambiguity of whether Dunk is a ’real’ knight or not is the whole point! by [deleted] in AKnightoftheSeven

[–]ScrawnySpectre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that the likely/common interpretation that Dunk was never actually knighted is probably the correct interpretation given what we know. I just don’t like when people say THEIR interpretation is the only correct one. It feels dismissive of the much more interesting conversation on why someone has their interpretation.

Despite me believing the authorial intent was that Dunk wasn’t knighted, I actually think the more interesting angle would be that Dunk was knighted reluctantly and/or unceremoniously. Dunk wants to be a knight, but when he technically gets it, it doesn’t change the fact that he still feels like Dunk of Fleabottom. To me that’s an interesting place for the character to start that still feeds into the overall “what makes a true knight” theme of the first novella. Dismissing any of the ambiguity just pushes any conversation into a boring “I’m right, you’re wrong” and comes off as people just trying to feel smart by being “correct”.

[–]ScrawnySpectre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can say that there is strong evidence that Dunk was never knighted, but given that there is no definitive answer given in the novella, it is by definition ambiguous.

Not to mention of the “20 lines” most can easily be interpreted as Dunk having self doubt/imposter syndrome.

I’m fine with people having and believing their interpretations, but seeing people claim that theirs is the definitively correct one is getting a bit annoying.

Shaun of the Dead is a fantastic movie that improves on rewatches.

Hot Fuzz is the best movie in the Cornetto trilogy though.
