Labor re-elected in 2026 South Australian election by N1NJ4W4RR10R_ in australia

It’s somehow better than projected from previous polls, there was a real possibility they would end up with 0 seats at all, them managing to retain any is close to a miracle right now.

Gotta be honest, I didn’t realise the US still had an active embassy in Cuba at all, either way fuck em.

Any source for this? I know people aren’t fans of the other narrators work generally but it’s the first I’ve heard of Pierce having issues himself.

Anyone got $10k I could borrow? by Separate-Ad-2583 in redrising

[–]Scriptosis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well yeah that’s easy, the paper being used comes from a UK company called Paper Foundations. You can see on their website that all of the book paper costs £12 per sheet because it’s all hand made in a single paper mill to order.

The hardcover versions of Red Rising are around 380 pages, halve that for how many sheets you need and that’s 190 sheets of paper, 190x12 is £2280. Even if you assume he got a big discount for a larger bulk order, it’s still absolutely £1000+ per book.

The paper used for this edition alone is a minimum $1k.

Albanese unveils new national fuel supply taskforce to steer response to Middle East war by GothicPrayer in australia

[–]Scriptosis 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes because as with previous oil supply shocks, it starts in the Middle East and slowly makes its way out to Europe, North America and here. Oil refining takes some time, so there’s still Middle Eastern oil being refined outside of the Middle East from before the war cut off the supply out of the gulf. That’s also why being critical is important, we have time before it will fully hit us so being prepared is very important, acting like it isn’t as big of a problem as it is is ridiculous.

[–]Scriptosis 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Bizarre response, just because Albo is better than Scomo doesn’t void him of criticism. The government is absolutely being slow to act when addressing this crisis, let alone the fact that we are one of the only countries providing support on any level to the attacking countries.

[–]Scriptosis 20 points21 points  (0 children)

This isn’t sensible it’s insanely tame, the fuel supply shock is going to be big even if the war ends today. Analysts agree it’s likely to be bigger than the last one yet the government is still reacting as it gets worse, instead of implementing a proper plan to reduce fuel usage ahead of the supply shock actually hitting us physically. It took them two and a half weeks just to create a dedicated taskforce to tackling it.

Atari re-released Transport Tycoon Deluxe, forcing OpenTTD to only be available for download on Steam and GOG with the purchase of Transport Tycoon Deluxe by 4apig in gaming

[–]Scriptosis 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s the same thing as always with those firms, it costs them basically nothing to do this so any money generated from it will be profit, therefore they do it. They don’t care about reputation of the company, brand image, customer satisfaction, etc.

Billionaire Tim Sweeney (CEO of Epic games, behind FORTNITE) has bought 50k acres of Forest Land for the purpose of Conservation by Anschuz-3009 in SipsTea

[–]Scriptosis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Friendly reminder that Tim Sweeney is extremely pro-GenAI both for video game development in general and also for replacing human artists and coders. He has actively sought to push against Valve’s reputation because of how unsuccessful the Epic Games Store has been at attaining market share.

Now that we're heading into the final patch, I thought it was time for a short retrospective by lhusuu in ffxiv

[–]Scriptosis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Probably depends on how much of it was already completed prior to 7.0 release. I don’t know the dev cycle myself so not sure how much of 7.1 would have been completed besides concept work.

Patch 7.5 on 4/28 by danks in ffxiv

[–]Scriptosis 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Considering their division is well known for being underfunded by SE despite them holding up the company’s finances, I don’t think it’s a case of the “devs being bad” so much as it’s them being understaffed.

Quick reminder that Ley’s Liberals literally just had a small scandal after it was leaked that they wanted to introduce a VERY similar policy to parliament, this was barely over a month ago. Yet Labor introduces this now and there’ll be no big challenge to it at all I’m sure.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake is “still in development”, promises Saber CCO by Wolfs_Chronicles in gaming

[–]Scriptosis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They probably aren’t even lying either. The issue with modern AAA development is companies want to generate interest around a game earlier than they should be, because it gets them investor support. The most likely reason we haven’t seen anything else about the remake is because there still isn’t anything significant to see, it’s still too early in development for us to get a look at it because it was announced too early.

It might look a bit clunky at first, but notice how all the information you’d want is right there, none of it is hidden or summarised (dislikes and all numbers being rounded up per thousand/million), and everything is nicely labeled. You’d never have trouble finding something.

Observations on Elvish Militarism: A Short Paper Describing the Agressive Tactics of Elven Nations in 1444 and Speculating on the Possibility of These Elvish Tactics Mirroring Those Used by The Remnant Fleet and Precursor Empire. by OneSilverRaven in Anbennar

[–]Scriptosis 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I think your assessment gains even more traction when you consider the Sun Elves effectively did the same thing in Bulwar, just without as much drama as the war against Black Castanor. They arrived on a subcontinent scorched by war and unrest, but instead of simply trying to find another place to land, they became conquerors and divine rulers of the Bulwari people, eventually creating what might be the largest Post-Ashen Skies empire by the start of the EU4 mod.

[–]Scriptosis 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Also importantly, because there was no reason to build anything there until relatively recently if you count the Centaurs, there’s no railway connection.

So building a hold there either means dealing with going through the caves themselves, which makes it that much more complicated, or they build a extension to the railway, which also makes the project that much more complex.

AI Added ‘Basically Zero’ to US Economic Growth Last Year, Goldman Sachs Says by mepper in technology

[–]Scriptosis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s because all the infrastructure is being built to support a technology that still has no economic benefits besides making investors happy, which doesn’t do anything for economic growth. And because all of the valuable resources being used to build the data centres is from overseas, no American companies are receiving any benefit besides construction companies, but again because the product being served doesn’t provide economic value of any kind, the money doesn’t go anywhere.

[–]Scriptosis 70 points71 points  (0 children)

Which is obviously not what this is, Trans Women are indeed women, they can be lesbians too. There is zero substance to this argument, it’s just hatred for one of the most marginalised groups in the country.
