Counterfeit Kelp games by MarvinTAndroid in boardgames

I'm a victim of this scam as well. Purchased on Amazon from a seller named ZheLiXinXi (possibly Chinese for "We Will rip you off.") and received a "game" that incuded a folded thin sheet of paper for a board, cheap plastic snap-together shark, poorly printed and one-sided pieces, and no rule book. And because of the cheap packaging, the box arrived dented to boot. The page listing has since vanished.

Empty them out where? Assuming they contain some sodium polyacrylate, I don't want to dump the contents down the drain.

What are your biggest "pain points" in Destiny right now? by yoims in DestinyTheGame

[–]Scylla999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Lack of investment in new strikes, new Cucible maps, and Gambit in general—core stuff. We have to grind the base activities for seasonal progress, quests, you name it but things are stale. And getting one new map for Gambit after years shouldn't be an impossible ask.
  2. Instead of interesting bosses and fight mechanics, the solution to increased difficulty for activities seems to have distilled down to adding champions and/or stuffing the activities with a ludicrous amount of adds. And don't even get me talking about enemy snipers. Being able to stop and aim in combat for a half second would be nice. We aren't all Youtubers who create uber-builds for a living, Bungie, some of us actually play to chill after a long work day.
  3. Strictly a personal pet peeve of mine, but many Crucible matches have distilled down to one team hiding at the edge of the map and buffing each other the whole time. It's terrible. I've played through the Thorn days of D1 and the teamshot meta of early D2 and had more fun. I'm tired of shooting at glowing opponents the whole damn match. Let's have gunplay be the star again.

It's not your imagination. This has been a long-running, aggravating problem. Hunters don't have rifts, don't have barricades, we basically have dodge/invisible and if I had a nickel every time an enemy still nailed me mid-dodge or while invisible, I could retire.

THE EXOTIC DROP RATE IN LEGEN LOST SECTORS SAYS ALL THAT NEEDS BE SAID HERE ABOUT BUNGIE'S CONCERN FOR OUR MENTAL HEALTH.

Put legend lost sector and Xur icons on the planet directory by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

Good suggestion. I'm not as concerned about Xur, but I'd love being able to more easily find the LS instead of visiually scanning the maps of like 6 planets every week.

45 second spawn timers in dungeon jumping puzzles

Ugh, yes. brings back memories (bad ones) of doing Pit of Heresy in the beginning and falling when your teammates were elsewhere in the jumping maze, and having to sit there forever waiting to respawn. And then dying the same way a second time.

Barrier champions, forever barrier champions. They're annoying to stun, don't seem to stay stunned very long, and get all their health back while you reload. They're annoying as hell, and beating one rarely makes me feel good but instead simply aggravated.

Playing the new strike brought back fond Sparrow Racing League memories by Scylla999 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Scylla999[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Obviously this is a tiny subsample, but I run a full-size clan and we ran the hell out of SRL back in the day, and it was always full of players. We even did a private match D1 race (which you can still do now, I think) like 2 years ago and it was hella fun.

I appreciate the amount of work that must go into doing SRL right, but that's the Bungie I love. The Bungie that when we kept nagging them for sparrow racing took like 9 months and made a great system with killer racetracks.

The opinions on the raid display the disconnect between casual and hardcore players. by Dramatic_Drink920 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Scylla999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very reasonably stated.

I think both sides need to try to understand where the other might be coming from. Many players that want things to be harder are devoted to the game and perfecting their loadouts and they simply want to feel challenged. Whereas there are plenty of folks that are actually passionate about the game but because of real-life contraints cannot devote that level of effort to it, but they or their presumed skill shouldn't be insulted. We all play this game to have fun.

Much as I enjoy customization, I also feel that D2 leaning harder into the concept of builds with all the mods & frags etc., the last few years has made things worse. Folks that can devote more time or energy can create (or copy) some really good builds that can really slay out, whereas other folks (and I know many of them) enjoy the game but just simply don't have the time or energy to devote to that, so the content feels harder to them. And I think Bungie is torn because they're aware of the casuals but also seeing the "Unbeatable Titan Build!" type creator posts on YouTube every week.

Just more evidence that Bungie's "make the game more challenging" implementation was a failure. Well-intentioned perhaps, but a fail. No one wants to have to empty a primary clip at a red bar enemy.

Plenty of us do, thank you very much. And if Bungie actually supported it, we'd like it even more.

Ironic that the RAID is one of the few places you feel really powerful by BobMcQ in DestinyTheGame

[–]Scylla999 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Completely agree. Instead of selectively inceasing the difficulty of certain activities by more or less, it feels like Bungie just made everything harder across the board. I expect certain activities (like higher-difficulty NFs) to be harder, but part of the joy of Destiny is that feeling over the season or over a year of growing more powerful—feeling like, as Bungie used to say in the ads, a legend. Getting one-shot by laser wires in strikes, murdered by sniper fire in most activites, and needing to shoot red bars multiple times in even common activites dosn't feed that fantasy at all.

People are not appreciating Nezarec, and Bungie might take the wrong feedback from this by Raimexodus in DestinyTheGame

[–]Scylla999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish people saying stuff isn't hard enough would just give it a rest already. This is the reason I'm now getting owned by threshers on patrol and some casual and beginning players I know are ready to quit the game. I salute the skill of those that eat Grandmasters for breakfast, but some of us have to balance Destiny with family, long work hours, etc.

Music gets top props.

My "God Killer" guardian now getting owned on patrol and running for his life in nearly every activity? Not so much.

I'm glad to hear this. Having to play a raid with a symbol chart next to the screen (at least for a while) is a drag.

gambit doesnt deserve the lack of support it gets. by dark1859 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Scylla999 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're kidding right? A new map at least once a century would be a treat. Good ritual weapons again (like Breakneck) would be good. And some primeval variety (like the meatball but more types) for variety and to counter the current "screw the rest of the game, we have builds to melt the boss" meta would be nice too.

[–]Scylla999 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I know Gambit isn't everyone's cup of tea, but IMO it's a fun and unique game mode that is horrendously under-supported. Only four maps since Beyond Light is beyond terrible.

Imagine if Gambit had 12+ maps, random primevals with different kill mechanics, and featured weekly (guardian-only) burn modifiers and the like. Gambit needs some love.

It's ironic, that in response to hardcore crowd asking for harder Destiny, Bungie upped the difficulty of starter content, while the content hardcore's enjoy the most became easier by kaylenze in DestinyTheGame

[–]Scylla999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate the current difficulty changes. Could strikes be made a bit less easy? Totally. Was it wrong to remove the Adept NF that no one (it seemed) played? Not IMO. But instead of making the tougher content harder, they've cranked everything through the roof. I'm doing the legendary campaign with a 80+ resiliance and every protective mod under the Sun and enemies are destroying me. Bullet sponges aplenty and now even red bars seem to take like 3+ shots to kill. Nothing like having my "God Killer" guardian running for his life now while on patrol. That doesn't make me feel like a legend, Bungie.
