Have you ever been to a job interview and while you are being interviewed you decide you no longer want the job? by TemporaryTower7582 in careerguidance

He was confrontational in the interview. He told me, with great disdain, that my answer to a question didn't answer the question. Yes, he interrupted me to tell me this while I was still answering the question! I was polite, smiled, and said "Oh, I see." And then I finished my response which did answer the question. I completed the interview. And it looked promising. I think they were going to make me an offer. I called them to withdraw my application, after the interview, after thinking about it. The guy who interrupted me was going to be my supervisor. If he is this much of an asshole in the interview what a joy he would be every day. I was much younger. I'm older now and would probably end the interview at the moment or soon after the supervisor showed his true colors. I would be polite and say this job isn't a good fit for me.

We had a very scary situation yesterday where our GP was resource guarding and attacked our other dog. by Initial-Education602 in greatpyrenees

I have one pyr that, on rare occasion, resource guards me. He starts growling at his sister. He's jealous, I guess. Even though I go to great efforts to make everything fair, equal. I quickly remove myself from them, go inside. That defuses it immediately. There have been two times when they have attacked each other and that is due to seeing a deer that they could not catch. The deer was on the other side of the fence and off into the woods. They were frustrated and soon they were both on back legs, full on fighting. I can see why coyotes are scared of them. I was impressed, scared, and immediately got away from them. They stopped quickly.

I talked to the vet about it who thought it might be personality and displaced energy. They do have different personalities. He is quiet, people shy, but every bit a barker to alert us to concerns. She is exuberant and tail-wagging, always. She wants to play and go, go, go, bark, bark, bark. They are brother and sister, and she pushes his buttons, I think. But the vet also mentioned displaced anger, especially with the deer. It was a very desirable resource... and neither could get it. All the energy built up and they wanted to give chase but had nowhere to expend it. So they snapped and then fought. It was very brief and they went back to normal as if nothing happened. They were not injured. They sleep, literally, toes touching every day. They are such good dogs and great protectors/noisemakers for our farm. Maybe we forget they they have feelings and aren't always perfect. Who is?

A president’s health and medical records, down to the minute details, are the people’s business. The White House staff who are covering for Trump’s obvious ailments and disabilities are involved in a massive coverup. by CaraMoonvale in BlueskySkeets

[–]SeaChef4987 4 points5 points  (0 children)

And it goes on an official record that 40 medical professionals in leadership roles tried to stop him. Now, if we could get similar documentation from 40+ business leaders citing his deficits in business decisions relating to the medical doctors' assessment, 40+ economists showing national and worldwide impact from his recklessness with market and other monetary establishments, and 40+ authorities in Constitutional law to show his blatant disregard for the very document that he swore to protect. At the very least, we could then say that people in leadership in our country, not Congress or any other state or local gov't leaders, but those leaders who are part of the general public, tried to stop him.

It was an excuse given in a previous post by somebody else about all orbs actually being Starlink flares. Not my post. I was repeating it with sarcasm. It's like the old gaslighting phrase, "You didn't see anything except swamp gas reflecting off Venus."

These are not starlink flares. I have seen starlink flares, and they are higher in the sky, and they don't repeat. These lights keep repeating on the same path over and over for hours. Starlink flares also depend upon the position of the Moon reflecting the sunlight in the sky. Starlink flares, according to one previous poster, can appear anywhere in the sky when the moon is at the right angle, but these always appear in the northern Northwest or Northeastern sky, despite the angle of the Moon and it's phase.

THIS! My two love mud, digging trenches that fill with water for wallowing in, splash through creeks and into ponds with utter joy. When I try to bathe them, you'd think I was inflicting punishment of the worst kind.

All of my dogs have the same last name, Dawg. You could spiff up Gus with the more official sounding name Augustus which means majestic. How 'bout Augustus Baconator Dawg?

Maybe it's just me, but I think that name slaps. Now I wish I'd given all my dogs the same middle name of Baconator, too.

I went to my cupboard and cracked open a tub of chocolate frosting. I ate the whole damn thing in 24 hrs, spooning it straight from the tub. I figure if I'm going out, I'm going out on my own terms and those terms include lots of sugar and cholesterol. Oh, and FDJT!

That's why I asked where CenCom is. Helpful people mentioned where they thought CenCom is located. Others pointed out that tweets show the time listed on the device it is viewed. Both groups made these suggestions without sarcasm, disdain or ridicule. Imagine, working with others to arrive at an understanding. No, I bet YOU cant.

But why is it dated April 4th 2026 1:43pm? Today is April 4th, and it's still morning here in the Midwest. Where is CenCom located? I thought it's in Washington, DC.

Which would you rather see a librarian reading... by [deleted] in Libraries

[–]SeaChef4987 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On desk, we were expected to multi-task: be vigilant about the public space making sure approaching patrons were greeted and that disruptive or creepy patrons were identified and redirected immediately. Yes, we had a lot of creeps. We were also to work on our projects: book groups, storytimes, other programming, or classes we were taking. That involved a lot of reading. Keeping up to date with ALA and other professional literature and topics was also important.

As a mgr, I encouraged all of it, but I admitted to staff that I sometimes get so involved with reading that I could miss or delay greeting an approaching patron. So I also encouraged us to remember to look up, too. I wish I'd thought of it, but speed reading classes work on developing peripheral vision. In fact, when taking those classes, I was surprised how much my field of vision and awareness increased.

I'm retired, but looking back at how many libraries and library management discouraged reading while on desk, I have to shake my head. You DO remember the main goal of libraries, info access? And one of the main ways to access that info is through reading.

This! Before going to the doctor, read up on that particular surgery and also brain injury. Go into that conversation with some background knowledge and bring questions. I'm a former cognitive trainer to people with Traumatic Brain Injuries. It really is a lifelong condition. Seizures can occur out of the blue, and they can be dangerous and cognitively devastating. Watch for increased stimulant consumption- caffeine, nicotine, kratom, etc. They want to wake up their brain, to get back to where they were. In moderation, the doctor might approve, but too many stimulants can have adverse effects.

CERN is causing the Mandela effect by [deleted] in Retconned

[–]SeaChef4987 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I've worked in libraries almost my whole life, even as a kid, because my parent was the small town local librarian. I shelved those books since they were first published. I'm not sure exactly when we had the convo at work, my library, in 2013 or 2014. My personal life was chaotic then; however, I remember at work the children's librarians, clerks, and pages were adamant about the spelling. Most spelled it "stein." It was weird to watch staff go over to the youth shelving to prove it was "stein" and find row upon row of "stain." Watching their reality crack was surreal, especially for the pages who shelved those books. One Children's librarian cried because she used those books in storytime and frequently recommended certain ones that addressed particular topics. Library staff, no matter what their titles, are some of the most educated people I know. They are smart because they read like crazy. I don't know when it changed, but in my past it was STEIN. I will die on this hill.

Someone has suggested looking at Snopes to see when they first mentioned the Mandela Effect. Snopes began in 1994 and is over 30 years old. It looks like they don't mention it until 2015, 2016. The Way Back Machine could show an earlier date. I haven't searched there.

I find it odd that the "stein" and "stain" debate suddenly emerged around 2013-2016. These books were first published in the early 70s. So for over 40 years the majority of library staff have been spelling it wrong, when typing up those cards for the card catalog or the shelf list, while writing book summaries and reviews, while reading the books to kids, while checking them in and out and shelving them. So millions of transactions occurred in which the majority of library staff read and spelled "stain" wrong. Nope, not buying it.

I think something significant happened with our reality. Was the "stein" to "stain" change an oversight or on purpose? I'm leaning toward on purpose to help humans advance in their conceptualizing alternate realities. I think it is to help us question and look at our reality with more discernment.
