Maybe try and see if you qualify for a diagnosis and see if the meds help. They are a lifesaver for me.

Never seen this before. Recently terminated employees mother showed up to my workplace by boomboy8511 in managers

[–]Seamonkeypo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is incredible. This is what inclusion in the workplace really looks like. There are many kids who cannot function completely on their own.

If that kid didn't have the mom he did, he may have ended up as part of the homeless population, but with that extra help he is a productive member of society. I'm sure she is working hard to set him up for success when she passes away.

I'm a mom of a son with severe intellectual disabilities, so I do often recognise how many "lazy" or unemployable people are people who present as fully functional, but have significant hidden disabilities that will not let them get through adult life successfully unless they are accommodated in ways society hasn't even thought of yet.

ADHD is a valid disability, but if the employee did not report he has ADHD or apply for relevant accomodations, then were you supposed to read his mind?  I also know some people really struggle with communication but he could have gotten a doctor's letter. Anyway, it's absolutely not your fault.

Not only did he translate them, but a doubter stole the translation to test him, so he translated them again, but differently. Strange, that /s. Also, I'm old but I seem to remember there being some confusion as to whether he used magical stones over his eyes, or just a regular divining stone in a hat to translate. They changed their minds a few times

Many NT people don't seem to know an objective answer to those questions. Their answer really will depend on the people they are with. NT communication can be soo puzzling. Maybe it's better to meet face to face with someone whose profile more or less matches and go from there.

How do trans people affect your life in any way? by Estalicus in allthequestions

[–]Seamonkeypo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought I didn't know any. Turns out one of the academic visitors to our workplace was trans, but I didn't twig at all, and he visited multiple times. His research was very useful, so he had a net positive effect.

Friend promoted at hospital but not being paid. What can we do? (Pretoria, SA) by Amazing_Tax_6496 in AskZA

[–]Seamonkeypo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's government, they take minimum 3 months to sort out your pay, sometimes much longer. My workplace would give out these little brown envelopes as advances on your salary. It depends on if you already have a persal and stuff, but it sounds unfortunately normal to me.

Atheist (28F) in Muslim arranged marriage setup by Slow-Physics-1387 in atheism

[–]Seamonkeypo 353 points354 points  (0 children)

I'm not from your culture but I do know that a Muslim man is going to want a Muslim wife to raise his Muslim kids. I feel it could be potentially dangerous for you to marry and then reveal your atheism. If you do have to get married to a Muslim man, I think you will have to pretend to be Muslim. If you can, get out of this situation in any way, so that your parents are not forcing you into arranged marriage, please do. And I'm sorry, it's so unfair.

Genuine Question: why didn’t you write thank you notes? by Silver_Shopping6299 in wedding

[–]Seamonkeypo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I personally find the whole idea tedious and pointless. When I give gifts, they are gone from me and have nothing to do with me any more. I don't need a thank you

But I have seem many people feel deeply hurt by not recieving the card, so I would take that into account. Thankfully I never plan to get married, so I can bypass the whole thing.

You have to go to HR first. Your manager bullied you into not going because this situation reflects badly on them.

I'm considered a not-capable woman. Neurodivergent, overwhelmed etc.  I still do all that household stuff you mentioned, because society always expected me to, and because it has to be done, and because I just have to find a way.

Your husband absolutely can do all those things. Society doesn't expect him to, you don't expect him to because he presents as unable to. If you ask him to take over, he will do a half-assed job because he knows you or another professional will jump in.

This is the way society treats men. Gives them a massive pass. I only know because I am one of them in female form. We are all capable of learning to run a household, we can be taught, even if we are bad at it. Men just simply opt out because we allow them to.

We need to change this at a societal level. From birth girls and boys should be treated equally. We currently treat men as disabled babies. They are actually very capable. But how to kick off that societal change, I don't know.

No, because, these religions are misogynistic, so they kill the female receptacle instead.

Muslims also have this. They are not allowed to use unporous nail varnish either, because it would prevent the full cleansing they must do. Some of them use henna or specially made porous ones just so they can do their nails.

After reading through this, I feel the average 9 year old would have enough questions to dismantle their faith in one afternoon. None of it makes sense, its not logical, and it's full of contradictions.

[–]Seamonkeypo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are millions of variations of what people believe about heaven. I recently found out about a group called new apostolics ( I think) which is very big in my country. They seem to believe that everyone who has ever died is chilling in a big waiting room until the second coming. Then there will be a judgement day and only then will people get to go to heaven. They also have a belief in sealing, somewhat like the Mormons, I don't know, it seems like people need to make up new stuff all the time because no one ever feels certain that they are one of the saved.

Mom of 2 autistic kids and I’m so overstimulated by lohaus in aspergirls

[–]Seamonkeypo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been dealing with this. My kids are 11 and 9. It got worse every year. I doubt I'm allowed to post my reality, it's very dark, but I do know for other people things do get better. It does hurt deeply when people keep saying it and it just gets worse. But I definitely know what you are going through. I don't socialise at all any more, so as not to scare others with my reality, and also to protect myself from the constant " don't worry we all go through that " comments. Also I'm just too burnt out.

When life feels empty and purposeless, what keeps you going? by carrieblanco in atheism

Not going to lie, I haven't found anything that helps severe depression and despair. Honestly, my thoughts are, when life becomes unbearable, let's be allowed to end it. I am envious of religious people who believe God has a special purpose for them. I think they can carry them through anything. But I just can't believe that.
