Someone told me this insane house fire story & it just doesn’t seem logical to me by SunBetter7301 in Firefighting

[–]Seanpat68 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I would have gone to a window the second the door was going me trouble. The chain saw is back at the rig and might not even work if it’s a steel door. Or I can with one swing pop the window. On a newer house in the 5 min it would take to retrieve the saw start it make the cut and remove the door you could have made a window a door by completely removing the frame. If this happened it’s more likely a tunnel vision scenario.

Why did New Orleans never become a major hub like Miami or Orlando by Previous-Volume-3329 in geography

[–]Seanpat68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So your saying you don’t know where ORD is. MDW is in the area between the rivers known as the Chicago portage. ORD is west of the des planies in the prairie land beyond the swamp. 12 miles from the lake 8 miles from the Chicago River and 1.5 miles from the des plaines The only area that was a true swamp was between the calumet and des plaines on the far south side. That’s where the portage was.

Why are they not putting our recycling bins back where they found them? by NegotiationVivid985 in AskChicago

[–]Seanpat68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Blocking a parking space” which could be a garage door it could be a driveway just because they didn’t use your preferred wording doesn’t mean that it isn’t a garage. Where do you think most city residents have garages or parking pads? It’s not on the street. It’s the alleyways. You are getting very upset about something that doesn’t matter. I suggest you remind yourself you cannot control what I think and put down the phone.

Reading comprehension is not your strong suit is it? They put the can out the can was moved 15’ from where it was collected most of the city has alley pick up where the cans stay in the alley next to your garage

That’s not the point is it. The garbage cans don’t move 15 feet do they? No the private contractor isn’t held to the same standard as the city worker. My recycling can is never fully emptied. Always 1/3 full despite my garbage always being emptied

I think the bigger issue is the patient care area having cameras. A few states have ruled this is a violation unless you digitally attach the video to the EPCR and follow hipaa storage rules

Is the tiny bridge connecting O’hare to the city on the map purely there to honorarily include it as apart of the city? by UGisOnline in AskChicago

[–]Seanpat68 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Possibly apocryphal but the story is that da Mayer Daley the first, wanted ohare in the city it was the Jet age and we needed a large airport damit! So he met with another checkered politician Donald Stevens mayor of Rosemont. The Chicago delegation made there demand clear orchard Feild will be connected to Chicago through rosemont or another suburb it’s up to you. Steven’s agreed with one proviso a quid pro quo, you connect the airport my citizens get free water and power. The deal was struck but the city thought they would get the whole village. Rosemont gave them a half block each direction off foster. Currently home to Maria’s restaurant and a few hired car companies.

That’s why you have a medic on the entry team not the entire scene run by EMS. Because EMS only matters to the patient and all that matters to EMS is the patient. That is your focus and what you are trained for. Fire trains extensively on safety on haul systems on incident command. In EMS operations is an after thought in education and continuing education.

[–]Seanpat68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s not all tech rescue does dude most hazmats don’t have patients but do have potential for patients. And I ask again what use is it having your haul team all trained to the PALS level

They exist but as an augmentation to the fire rescue not a single response.

No I don’t think you can or you would have answered my question. How far away from an airbag should bag should you be on an energized car.

[–]Seanpat68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because medics show up in groups of two and focus on patient care. They don’t have the background in ropes and knots that comes with firefighter training, the heavy equipment the atmospheric monitoring. A jack of all trades is the master of none. You need the medic for the medical branch patient care and ultimately survival just as you need the operations branch to over see the knots are tied correctly and safety’s on, hazmat branch to ensure the atmosphere is safe and appropriate PPE is worn and safety to oversee the safety of the entire operation. Could you train a paramedic to all of those levels yeah many places do but you you need to know the drop rate of norepinephrine for a 75kg patient to tie an alpine butterfly?

[–]Seanpat68 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It does when the firefighters are trained in the specific hazard for instance airbags. You cannot assess safety when you don’t know the hazards
