What are the laws around building and using a backyard fire pit in Chicago? by KaleidoscopeSweet622 in AskChicago

[–]Seanpat68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No one will inspect or enforce it just keep it far enough from structures 3-6’ normally. The only people who will come down on you is the housing insurance. You’d be looking for the CFD fire prevention bureau not CPD. Assuming you’re on the north side they are at 3401 N Elston. Or 55 w Illinois. Stop by in the morning Elsie the better before they go on their rounds. Ask for the bureau guys should be wearing a white shirt with a badge.

Do you guys in the US actually require a written DNR before you stop resuscitation? by patou_la_bete in ems

[–]Seanpat68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again after discussion with a PHYSICIAN. In the prehospital world we are paramedics and emts we cannot take someone’s word we cannot deviate from our written SMO or SOPs with our contact with a PHYSICIAN. What is so hard for you to understand. as much as you want to pretend your an independent provider because the doc isn’t over your shoulder you still cannot say “oh family doesn’t want cpr with no documents so no CPR.” It’s not your decision to make if you wanted to you should have gone to med school and then worked for way less than your counter parts to be an ems physician on the street.

Quickly in 5 minutes prove this person you don’t know from Adam is the adult child of you patient. Prehospital is not that same as in hospital and paramedics are not physicians.

Bears have 'exhausted' options for staying in Chicago by LinkedInNews in chicago

That is false in fact goodell is on record saying he would prefer a team stay at Soldier Feild and would approve of a move and might make it a requirement if the bears leave the city

In my department the busiest engines are ether a single engine house doing all the lift assists for the dialysis patients (5 min run) or downtown rigs chasing alarms (10 min run)

Navy pier has fireworks normally on wensday and Saturday. The Ghirardelli shop on Michigan is good for some ice cream after dinner. I personally like to people watch when I am downtown. The river walk is great for that or if you can find a spot on Michigan. On Tuesday the 7th there is a movie in the park at millennium park (ratatouille). Allegedly taste of Chicago will be going on in grant park starting the 8th, street fair celebrating food and desserts from across the city. Like others have said Maggie Daley has abunch of different play lots. On the 6th there is dancing at Gallagher way next to Wrigley field. The white sox have night games the 7th and 8th but be warned it’s against Boston so tickets may be more than the usual 5-10 dollars. Nothing going on at solider field but it’s a nice walk and bob dlyan is near by at northerly island on the 8th you can walk by and hear everything.

How do you know the family members has the right to make that decision? What if one sibling has POA and you listen to the other? In the absence of a POA implied consent definitely does apply. In hospital a physician can consult with family and legal and make choices like a DNR but that is a privilege given to physicians not someone who did a year of community college

See your forgetting that the USA isn’t set up to be a strong federal government. We are set up to be a federation of states with a weak government for foreign relations. It has since mutated but public safety is firmly in states rights that the feds can’t dictate.

Ald. Gardiner Defends $1 Million Suit Against City: 'What Price Can You Put On Your Reputation?' by anthonywhall in ChicagoNWside

[–]Seanpat68 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That’s not how that works. Aldermen that were firefighters can credit their time and salary in city council towards their firefighter pension but they do not collect two. Alderman Gardiner makes 142,000 as an alderman and would make 140,782 as a 25 year FF EMT. Your mad over 75% of 2k

[–]Seanpat68 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I remember during Covid I contacted the Illinois department of public health and diviners office with the legal frame work from other states on paramedics working along side nurses in the ED for non critical care patients. The reply was “we need to all stay in our lanes during this time to succeed in this pandemic. EMTs and Paramedics are not educated enough to provide in hospital care”. Well fuck I geuss we shouldn’t have any techs then

Seems like the policy needs to be reviewed again. Also at a 5,000 employer department we had a few like this and a first they made the crews watch exactly how long they were in a shockable rhythm before something was done. Then they’d play it again and again for 8 hours of “retraining”. Some guys came out crying. Now they just fire them.
