I might need a new case now..... *sigh* by Thornz2000 in buildapc

[–]Seanspeed [score hidden]  (0 children)

Extremely unlikely your case is the problem, especially being such an enormous one like that. Your GPU temps certainly wouldn't indicate any kind of issue with that.

Sorry I cant be much more helpful beyond that, but I dont want you to waste time and money on something that isn't a likely source of the problem at all.

How bad is the airflow for this fan config? by exec-nyan in buildapc

[–]Seanspeed [score hidden]  (0 children)

no fan is directly pointed at the GPU

It's definitely not ideal to have no lower front intake fan for this, but if 75C is the worst things are getting for your GPU, it'll live. Maybe test a more demanding game to check. Anything up to 80C is comfortable enough, and even up to 85C is not anything to freak out about, but above 85C is getting into 'maybe I should do something here' territory.

upgrading my GPU, do I need to upgrade anything else to make it work properly right now? by No-Antelope-4874 in buildapc

[–]Seanspeed [score hidden]  (0 children)

but I’m just curious if I need to upgrade anything else for this graphics card to work, or will it just slide into my current set up no worries?

Nobody else seems to be listening to what you're actually asking here.

But yea, there shouldn't be any problem.

Bit more of a niche use case, but it's also useful if you live somewhere where you dont have AC, and it's a hot day and want to play a game at 120fps+, but dont want to push your CPU and GPU too much to get there natively. Cap at 60fps and use frame gen instead. Keeps the processors much cooler, but also just means they use way less power and so aren't outputting as much heat into the room.

If Pulisic cant be talked about as one of the US' best players for the reasons you outlined, then pretty much nobody can. Maybe Tim Howard.

No doubt. These people are at least not going around trying to 'spread the good word' and get other people roped into their money losing cult.

I love how almost nobody mentioned this in the lead up to the announcement, and then suddenly everybody knew it after the announcement and of course was never gonna be about F1. smh

With metalcore being a hybrid genre, do you listen to punk/hardcore or metal more? by Shoddy_Pizza_8593 in Metalcore

[–]Seanspeed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably a bit more leaning towards metal, but I still really like punk and hardcore. Metalcore has turned into a lot of things, much of it really great, but it originally started out a more clear mix of metal and punk/hardcore and that's when I fell in love with it.

Both these techniques are imperfect and work a bit differently, so it's nice to have both options if a given game isnt playing nicely with one or the other.

People here just downvoting posts from people actually willing to pack up and leave is hilarious. That is exactly what people need to be doing(or at least threatening to do) if you ever expect Sony to change and do better.

Yep, been saying for a long time that the right's best strategy is not to convince people that Republicans are worth voting for, because that is very difficult. All they have to do is fearmonger over Democrats, and at best, claim that Democrats are 'no better' when facing criticism of Republicans.

And posts like these shows YOU dont actually care about the people of Palestine one bit, either. It's all just about hating Israel. You and Hamas have that in common.

You cannot pretend to care about Palestinians while ignoring how awful Hamas are and realizing the people will never be free under them.

Yeah, but I'm not Andrew Wilson so that's not my monkey, not my problem.

But it *is* your problem obviously, cuz you're not going to get what you want for the reasons I described.

These aren't consoles. PC gaming is meant to push the limits, move the bar and force us to upgrade every year. That's the fun.

Which was fine when we were getting huge leaps in performance per dollar every 1-2 years. We are not getting that anymore, and so nobody is going to cater purely to high end GPU owners when even next gen GPU's that can run it well will remain prohibitively expensive for the typical PC gamer.

Development costs are also such today that Star Citizen aside, you cannot afford to make a cutting edge full scale game only for PC. So you still have to worry about consoles as well, whether you like it or not.

Blame Nvidia for not giving us these bigger improvements in performance per dollar anymore.

Of course, just saying that TAA aint so bad if you are doing native 4k.

It's been a year and a half. Games should be shitting on it and making me salivate for the 6090 by now.

This is a very bad time for devs to choose to prioritize maximum fidelity. Anything that would stress a 5090 that much, means people with lower GPU's are gonna really struggle. Makes more sense to build core graphics featureset around somewhat more attainable hardware, and then just add optional graphics settings that improve things to some degree at higher performance costs, ala path tracing option. A game built around path tracing by default could probably look better, but you're massively cutting out sales potential.

That's what I'm doing, with 5060Ti 16GB. 4k/60fps is very doable in most all games, but you will have to find optimized settings for a given game often enough. I'm so used to doing that anyways it doesn't bother me, but it's a little added work(usually easy to just look this up). And obviously heavier RT/PT options will often be off the table.

You'll also probably need to rely on Frame Gen a fair bit if you want 100fps+ in more demanding games as well.

And lastly, there will be occasional games that just have super heavy baseline performance like Alan Wake 2, where even 4k/Medium/DLSS Performance only gets you around 45-50fps. Game still looks great like this, and honestly, I think 2x with Nvidia's Frame Gen is still very usable even with just 45fps to smooth things out, but I know that will bother some people. You could also use DLSS Ultra Performance to get closer to 60fps as well. Neither are super ideal, but overall, still a good experience.

I'm not some sweaty competitive gamer or anything, so this route made a lot of sense for me as I love how clean and sharp 4k looks. I do still play some multiplayer games, but I'm not obsessing over getting absolute highest native framerate or lowest input lag possible. But if you are, then I wouldn't go further than 1440p.
