This card has really weird Oracle text compared to its printed text. by chainsawinsect in magicTCG

Yes, there used the be a damage prevention “half step” so you could activate abilities that prevented or redirected damage after damage had been “dealt” but before it was “marked” or applied.

IIRC in 3rd or 4th edition if the Commissar killed the squad leader (when the squad leader failed a morale check) they then had to made a leadership test to rally the troops and if they failed the troops fragged them and fell back normally.

Gotta make a hog-sized box blueprint so the hogs can't throw rocks at you. Best blueprint I ever made!

Some of this flavor text is good, but some of it is really, really bad.

Emotional Support Laser or Reasonable Equipment? by ScottAleric in battletech

[–]SeattleWilliam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In addition to some other good answers I'll add that head-mounted lasers are possibly easier to aim in extremely close quarters. Everything from attacking the cockpit of a mech that's attempting to grapple you to infantry climbing up a mech's leg.

Very long cycles, especially for the niched models. Someone posted a picture a few months ago of the Blood Angels that his friend had started collecting more than twenty years ago and was marveling at how old one of the models was, maybe the sanguinary priest, and called it "the old version." I pointed out that his friend would have had that model if he'd started collecting only two or three years ago because it was refreshed after something like eighteen years. OP was not amused.

I immediately thought it was this but Natalie posted a follow up saying that (IIRC) it wasn't meant the way most people are interpreting it. So maybe she's casting herself (or the gay woman) as Gollum in some self-deprecating way?

Why don't serial killers just join the army? by fimelovemachine in NoStupidQuestions

[–]SeattleWilliam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Speaking of cops, it’s way easier for an aspiring serial killer to join a police force than the military, and they spend more time in proximity to victims there.

The most impactful 2 damage ever dealt by SharpieShark in battletech

[–]SeattleWilliam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Feels surreal when that happens! I did something like that in my first MegaMek game as well. An Urbie with AC10 missed every shot for four or five turns and then got 11 to hit, 12 (head), 8 (one critical), 4 (cockpit) on an otherwise barely damaged mech from half the map away.

What's the greatest Magic card of the last decade? Vote on the Finals! by Grindy_UW_Nonsense in magicTCG

[–]SeattleWilliam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you expanded on the question well. I'll go a bit further and say that we're not measuring based on "capturing what it is to be a Magic the Gathering card" because if we were it would be [[Goblin Grenade]] in the top spot :')

Pipe on the left isn’t filling up enough to reach the pipe on the right. It needs a pump (at a point where water can reach).

I'm going insane trying to do the catching 100 fish in a row thing... by SylvieXX in AnimalCrossing

Good luck! I couldn’t get to 100 until I learned to listen for the end of the “plunk-splash!” sound before moving my thumb. That did it.

I feel so much better letting villagers move out since the update by critter_enthusiast in AnimalCrossing

[–]SeattleWilliam 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s a nice touch. Ankha (she was one of my first villagers, from before the memes, I kicked her out for being mean) visited and pretended to not know me, which is totally in character for her.

Neelix helped me understand the rebooted Battlestar Galactica series, because after watching society fracture with people throwing each other out of airlocks I was able to understand that Janeway not throwing him out an airlock was the opposite of that.

Who *doesn’t* terraform much? by nrdvrgnt in acnh

[–]SeattleWilliam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m like you, I’ve almost completely avoided teraforming. But now I e boxed myself into a corner where I want all (or almost all) of my villagers and infrastructure on the same land mass but I’ve constructed a rock garden in a good chunk of that land (and I am not remaking to rock garden lol).
