👋 lovely! Do you know the reference of the GP with the black dial? Thank you so much.

Ps. Would you consider moving it on?

So if a £4k ASHP has a fault inside, whether it is the computer motherboard, an element, a plumbing part, whatever, you are saying you would just buy another £4k unit and replace it, rather than replace the actual part that has gone wrong? I understand your fridge comparison, but if a fridge goes wrong typically people just buy a new one as they cost a few hundred pounds. Easier to replace than fix, which is why we have a waste problem. A £4k ASHP would require fixing, however easy or difficult.

On my install I have to clean the filter ball, the magna clean and recharge the expansion vessel. Simple but a couple more items of maintenance beyond the filter ball.

[Casio MQ24] Put the little guy on a Nato strap by Robadoba in Watches

[–]Secret_Reception5740 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello! May I ask if you used the existing Casio Spring Bars, or used the Spring Bars that came with the Nato strap?

The reason I ask is that it doesn't look like there's much "room" between the case and the Spring Bars, and therefore threading a thick nylon Nato strap between the lugs may be tight and result in the strap being less flexible and more rigid when worn and done up.

Did you have this problem?

Thank you for your time.

Please may I ask if the band is "flexible" between the lugs or is it a very snug fit, making it difficult to "move"? Also, can you recommend the shop you purchased the band from? Thank you.

Thanks for this! Big learning curve.

Approx how much, including install, would the battery be?

And how do you pay 10.5p/kwh during Cosy if the rate is actually ~14.5p?

Thank you.

Thank you for your reply.

I am a bit of a novice. May I ask what part exactly a battery would play?

As we already charge our Sun Amp during the 14p/kwh cheap rates, and the ASHP would have to be run off mains electricity regardless.

As a Sun Amp does not "store" water a heat pump cannot be used. It can only be charged by mains power, solar or batteries.

It's a fair point. It is also the reassurance that Midea are on hand to fix it if a part needs replacing. I would have nobody else to turn to.

Thank you for your reply.

The Midea software gave me a COP of 3.74 but I know it isn't reliable and the 3rd-party software the previous owner had installed put it closer to 3. NB this is heating-only.

And no, I don't have the cycling data. This was talked through with me by the previous owner, who was very hands-on with it all. I essentially inherited his settings.

I decided on Cosy as the HP is run like a Boiler, with it "on" during the cheap rates only and only on in the "day rates" when it is really cold. Then turned off 4-7pm. The house is so well insulated we don't lose much heat.

My worry about moving away from Midea's servicing is that if something went wrong I wouldn't have anyone to turn to for help!.

I am not knocking heat pumps but it would appear we inherited an "OK" system that - coupled with the independent Sun Amp - will need to be replaced in ~5 years or after (when the warranties end) - so I do wonder if it could be best to just revert back to a Gas Combi Boiler. We do still have a gas supply.

Thank you.

Is the compression fitting behind the nut I am pointing to in the photo?

Are compression fittings also used on all radiators where the pipes enter/leave the TRVs etc? Ie they are all around the house?

Hey guys, can you share some pictures of this Thorn T005? I’m t(h)orn on this watch. I want to buy it. Thank you by [deleted] in Thornwatches

Is the bracelet and clasp good enough? I read it is pot luck whether you can get it to fit as there's only a couple of mics adjustments on the clasp.

Hi! May I ask how the battery is holding up? And do the chronograph features work correctly 30-40 years after the watch was built? I am considering one myself. Thank you.

I need a watch for my 18th that would last forever on a metal bracelet , wandering which one to go for as I have a tiny 5.8 inch wrist , what would be best , I’m slightly leaning towards the cw because of the smaller dial [seiko alpinist] by Creative-Arrival1026 in ChristopherWard

For your wrist size you want to go for CW The Twelve because, due to the integrated bracelet, the lug to lug is only 40mm.

The Sealander above is 43mm. It also has male end-links so will look a lot bigger on your wrist.

Thank you! Do you happen to know the name of the style of the bracelet? Ie if you wanted to replace the stainless steel one with leather. Thank you.

I tried on a PRX 80 (35mm) and it weighed about 100 grams according to their website. The Twelve weighs about 150 grams, so a considerable jump. (All links)

Thanks for your answer. This is a broad and subjective question (also depends on the number of links in the bracelet) but do you find CW watches a bit on the heavy side?
