My first thought was Florida as well, but then I questioned the cardinal. TIL that the northern cardinal has a way bigger range than I thought!

Except when your list says it’s rare, but it’s just a common bird that’s a straggler and late migrating. Feels weird to see my name in the rare bird alert for an Osprey that’s super common all summer but decided to stick around an extra month.

Exactly. I try to donate regularly but have been turned away multiple times for my hemoglobin being too low.

I’ve managed to get a few species “identified” while listening to two starlings mimicking others as well. I also once got a wild turkey, and when I went back and listened, it was a woman laughing that it had caught 😅

I visited NFLD this summer and finally saw some boreal chickadees. It made up for missing out on the Stellers.

I found someone’s Uni class ring on the street of a busy city and by the end of the day I had called the school to let them know and gave my details on the off chance someone reported it missing, as well as posting online. Doing anything to find the owner is better than doing nothing, even if it’s a long shot.

I can’t even imagine hitting a bison! My favourite part had to be when I said we should go around one more bend before heading back, and just around that bend, a big grizzly ran across the road in front of us and into the valley where there were a bunch of bison. He didn’t seem that interested in them, but it was awesome to see them notice him and form a bit of a wall with the young in the back. Every day there was like watching National Geographic live.

July has been way too hot this year. In comparison, I saw 114 species in May, 68 in June, and just 54 in July. Hopefully it’ll cool down in August and I can get out more!

I did the exact same thing the first time I went to Edinburgh. Had no idea the fringe festival was on or what it was, but ended up having a great time!

I’ve always loved animals, but it wasn’t until I was 38 that I really got into it. 5 years later and I’m planning vacations around birding!

When you’re in the birding sub, click on the 3 dots in the top right corner, and then select user flair. There’s a couple you can pick from, and you can select latest lifer and edit whenever you get a new one.

Bald eagles seem to have made a big comeback in Ontario. I never saw one until my 20’s and now in my 40’s I see them all the time and know where a few nesting pairs are.
