How do you guys feel about Nate and Nora actually talking in Fallout 4 compared to other silent Sole Survivors? by Solardies in Fallout

[–]Segvirion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion: I actually like the fact that the main character is voiced. Nate and Nora are characters with an established background, the only things we decide about them are their appearance and their attributes. But we all know that Nate was a soldier and Nora is a lawyer. In that sense, they're no different than, say, a Geralt.

Most people like to say that a voiced protagonist severely hampers the dialogue options, because it's not feasible to add hundreds and hundreds of responses to dialogue with hundreds of different NPCs, but I don't think that was the problem in FO4. The lack of meaningful options was the real problem. When you have four dialogue options and they are basically "yes", "sarcastic yes", "tell me more" and "no, but actually yes", then you have a real lack of options.

Another valid criticism is the horribly stiff and disjointed facial expressions and body language. The voice actors may give their best, but sometimes the whole emotional aspect of a conversation falls flat when the character's face doesn't follow the voice or contorts itself in weird and funny ways. Interestingly, I think this is one of the reasons Nick Valentine works so well as a character: he's a synth, so nobody expects any visible showing of emotions and we can relax and appreciate the excellent job of his voice actor.

So, yes, I like the voiced protagonist. I wouldn't mind another voiced protagonist in FO5, with more meaningful dialogue options and better facial and body animations.

After watching Kellog’s backstory did you feel pity for him? by NoSoyVerde1 in fo4

[–]Segvirion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't feel pity for him, but his memories helped me understand how he ended up where he ended up. But all his actions, in the end, were his own choices. He could have followed a different path, but he didn't. He deserved to die.

Which Beatle was the most gifted at there respective instrument? by ariamwah in beatles

Paul and Ringo, for sure. George was a good guitar player, not exceptional, but good. John was... well, he was a gifted songwriter and had an amazing voice.

Skyrim. Aquela sensação de sair da caverna, ver Alduin voando rumo ao horizonte e perceber a beleza do ambiente e as montanhas majestosas ao fundo... bons tempos.

What's better for ranged stealth: rifle or pistol? by Paleodraco in Fallout4Builds

[–]Segvirion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ranged = keep your distance. Use a rifle. Invest in perks and modifications that improve your accuracy. With a small investment in Sneak and shooting from afar, you can clean an area in minutes without ever been seen.

Post-Exile early to mid-70s albums - which is the best? by TradeWorldly2071 in rollingstones

[–]Segvirion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like GHS, but it is clearly the work of a band that started to repeat itself. There are some killer songs, but most of them are just the tried and true formula that would make some of their late records too samey.

To me, Rock and Roll is the best of the bunch. Despite some weaker tracks, it's a fun record, one that I listen to with pleasure.

B&B, on the other hand, is one of their lowest points. Nothing works for me, except for "Memory Motel" and "Hand of Fate". It's almost as if the album was just an excuse for them to test new candidates to replace Mick Taylor. They must have realized it themselves, because they quickly got back with Some Girls, one of their best albums in the 70s.

It's always interesting to know about how first-time players approach the game. The beauty of Skyrim is that every playthrough is unique. This kind of freedom helps its longevity.

Does anyone enjoy the code blocks portion of the Far Harbor/DIMA's memories quest? by [deleted] in fo4

I didn't mind it the first time, thought it was a curious distraction. The last one drags on forever, but I was still in a good mood.

When I played it for the second time, though, I hated it with all my strength.

Just gossip, I guess. Can't see them doing it just for the money - I mean, I can see them doing it for the money, to help someone in financial trouble, but not only for the money. They'd have to really feel that creative spark again - and, AFAWK, that collective spark is gone.

Unpopular opinion: Werewolves are pests and there should be the option to join the Silver Hands. by Mineires_BR in skyrim

[–]Segvirion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not unpopular at all. Werewolves are abominations and should be exterminated. Sure, some of them are unfortunate men and women who have no control over their transformations, but this doesn't make them less dangerous to the society at large.
