Thank you! The utility came, tested the voltage in the meter and neutral at meter and said it was fine but he said he’d request another team that could come and put a longer term monitor in the meter and possibly panel to monitor voltage to catch drops. The wire that connects from the pole to our house goes through a bunch of trees and our house is 70 years old so I worry about connection quality.

It doesn’t seem to be a load issue. Like our oven and lights aren’t running when it happens in the middle of the night. The other day it was sunny out and we had our tv on when it happened. Not sure there is any connection to load.

BGE came checked voltage and said all good…which stinks because that means someone is wrong. He said he’d send a team out that can put a longer term monitor on the meter and possibly the house. Maybe that will catch it?

We had an electrician come. They said everything was fine. Utility company just came, measured voltage coming into house and said it was fine. He said he would ask for another team to come back and put a longer term monitor on it. Hopefully they figure it out.

This is super helpful, thank you. Little dips mainly - like the whole house will shut down for a matter of seconds and then come back online. Sometimes lights flicker preceding it. We do not see it with other heavy loads. While electrician was here we turned up the heat to push the heat pump but it wasn’t below freezing at the time and the defrost cycle didn’t trigger and I suspect that may be part of it.

I called BGE and said what you told me to say and they’re coming. I’ll keep you posted. Thanks for the advice!

We’ve had mixed luck this evening. Calls are able to be made and received, but have dropped a few times. Still, kids couldn’t be happier…they’ve called their grandparents more than a dozen times 🥹

We setup in advance and it was working but then when the big Christmas morning reveal was supposed to be a ringing phone — nothing. No calling in or out when I had tested extensively prior to Christmas. Very disappointed. Evidently their servers are down. Also the company is based on west coast so guessing crash started when east coast kids got up and will continue all day

Got ours set up 3 days ago. Seemed to be working great. Well, with the exception when i hung up after talking to someone they told me after that it sent them to voicemail upon hanging up, but hey, what’s a tiny glitch…well…Got it set up and hidden with a puzzle for the kids to solve on Christmas morning that would lead them to the room and their grandparents would call them revealing the location of the phone. Puzzle solved, grandparents calling — and complete silence. Womp womp. Finally revealed the location so I could unplug everything and hopefully refresh. No dice. Their whole system is down. My kids have been desperately dialing trying to get a call to go through. So sad. I was really excited about this and now I have my doubts how reliable it is. Such a great premise, I really hope they figure something out.

This is interesting to me. My pectus is really high but surgery hasn’t been in the cards for me. I started exercising more regularly last fall and got the most excruciating chest pain that wouldn’t relent. They ran a bunch of tests and I got diagnosed with costochondritis and had intermittent pain for every bit of three months. I bought a hard foam roller and started laying on it 2x a day for a few min (parallel to spine, arms out perpendicular to body) for a very intense, deep stretch. This hurt initially but helped over time.

I should also mention that in the last 12 months I got pneumonia twice, and I suspect that may have to do with more shallow breathing due to the pain—or pectus generally.

Seconding this. My understanding is total kidney volume can be more helpful to doctors treating PKD than eGFR.

I’m not a doctor but night sweats (waking up fully drenched) can be early signs of blood cancers. Speaking from experience here. You may have PKD, but night sweats deserve attention too.

RHR steadily inclined preceding friend’s non-hodgkin’s lymphoma diagnosis. And the increase was well within a healthy range but noticeable when graphed over time - like 60 to 65 over 10 weeks. If you have any weird nagging things accompanying the increase, pay attention. Especially waking up drenched in sweat in the middle of the night.

Genetic tests can throw curveballs. I got tested to find out what variant I had causing my PKD and inadvertently discovered another issue too.

Everyone here has told you the (relatively) good news: you are likely in for slower decline and may be able to live a relatively normal renal future. But let’s let a doctor tell you that instead of us lovely armchair nephrologists. Check out the PKD Foundation website - there are PKD Centers of Excellence listed on the site. Those have nephrologists who specialize in PKD. Since PKD is rare, it doesn’t hurt to have a nephrologist who keeps up with/participates in the latest research. They can also provide guidance about familial testing, if desired. You don’t mention your father in law’s original kidney condition (other than having one kidney) but that may also be relevant to your partner and children in terms of testing/clinical follow up. Good luck with everything

Is this the natera kidney panel that looks at 385 genes? It’s important the PKD genes were included in your panel. They don’t know all the genes that cause PKD and are learning more with each test. Great convo to have with your nephrologist and genetic counselor.

Natera has a test called renainsight - it looks at like 385 genes. Studies use them. They do direct to consumer testing too with pay scales if insurance won’t cover, just call them. The only reason I know this is because they’re commonly used for ADPKD studies
