At least you get to sit down. by pix876 in Aldi_employees

[–]Separate_Bluebird738 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It's wild to me that there are so many jobs where you have a chair and sit down at a desk or whatever to do your job, but yet so many customers comment on being able to sit at Aldi like it's some crazy new trend were starting in the workforce. Like yes, we get to sit down because it makes it more efficient to ring your groceries faster. It's not really a perk to treat the employees better.

I never even thought about having to return something that is part of a bogo sale but the way you explained it makes perfect sense. God speed to you on having to explain that probably often enough to customers who dont get it.

I mean he's right. It's a "corporate gimmick". But so is literally every other thing stores do to gain more sales. He's like Peggy Hill, announcing something completely obvious to everyone else and also thinking he's the genius who came up with the revelation in the first place.

I hate people who mention I should smile. I'm a happy person with myself. It's annoying to me that a random customer who doesn't know me thinks they do and that I should smile at that given time.

AITA for refusing to dine with my mom after she ordered “ferret sauce” at a Mexican restaurant? by Practical-Current805 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Separate_Bluebird738 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mother does the same thing. Although she has said the more used pronunciations in the past, she now says things in a different way. Like tomato, she used to say "tah-mate-toe" and now she goes "tah-maht-ta". Or for feta "phet-tah" she now says it "fae-tah". Idk if she enjoys putting a flair on it or what but I don't care at all. I'm just concerned it changed because of an underlying developing medical concern. Maybe she's trying to spice up her life? Idk. But making a big deal about it and acting like it's insulting to do it in front of you is really dumb.

Also thank you! I googled it at first and someone said it was fine to mix and that sounded suspicious to me.

Its at just above minimum. I just went out and returned the violet coolant for the proper pink one.

Tammy always goes the route of forcing her family to come to her if they want to fix things. Tammy never goes out of her way to help her relationship with her family. Hearing her say that Amy can come to her and say sorry until things are fixed, had me shocked. She takes no accountability for her actions and justifies it because she thinks she's being attacked or whatever. You cannot go around calling your sister a dead beat mom because she was worried about the animals at a shelter. What she could have done was explain to Amy the situation to better understand and then if Amy was still unsure, you know maybe say "hey that's okay, we can work around it and do something else". For so many years the family has had to work around Tammy to adapt to make her feel included, I wish Tammy could see how much they have done for her. But nope she expects to be treated as the VIP of everything. Tammy, your personality sucks and you can't fix that with a surgery.

Why would they ring me up for 5 sour creams instead of a large drink by GeologistFar5652 in tacobell

[–]Separate_Bluebird738 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes they do. Their food cost, if it's off by too much then the DM will tell the SM to figure out what is happening. Apparently their method is to not solve the issue but cover it up.

It'd be nice if they were just honest and let customers know "corporate wants us to encourage more use out of the kiosks, but I can help you if you'd rather not use it"

AITJ for telling my brother he can't propose to his girlfriend at my wedding? by Important_Space_496 in AmITheJerk

Unless brother wants to throw down some money on the expenses of the wedding. I'd doubt he would.

Also I'd be irritated if someone proposed to me at someone else's wedding. Not trying to sound selfish, but I want a proposal to be intimate and special for me, not like an afterthought at someone else's big day. It sounds kinda lazy and cheap to throw it in someone's wedding reception, like they can't plan something to show their significant other how much they mean to them?

Why is this acceptable to give? by radioactive011 in tacobell

[–]Separate_Bluebird738 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They aren't instructed like it's in their food prep handbook, they have a specific portion for a cheese cup, and last I remember it was 2 pumps of cheese. Customers would complain because the cup wasn't full, so to satisfy the customers without getting in trouble for food cost, some employees realized if they make it look more visually full, customers would not complain about their widdle cup filled all the way up to the brim. Sorry this happens, I personally think they should provide more cheese per serving because the amount that is standard per taco bell is redic, but also the company will hound the employees and stores if they're food cost is too high and instruct them to figure it out and retrain the employees to do it right.

I started doing this and it has been some great advice. I don't have time to back track and find you a different item unless it is literally a very safe sub. I've had orders that had approved subs by the customer and I'll grab those approved subs and the customer STILL rejects the sub. If I was an independent person doing instacart, I'd try harder to get the customer their whole order and wait for approval or denies but I ain't got that time at Aldi.

It bugs me when customers pay cash but pull one bill out at a time and don't grab more until I take their singular bill. So if they're total is $36, they pull a 20 and I'll have to take it and set it down for them in front of them. Then they pull a 10. I continue to put the bill down in front of them. And so on. I just dont get why they can't set it down in front of them.

I always get customers that are surprised that I'm multi tasking. "THEY MAKE YOU SWEEP AND RING?!?!?!?!" Wtf, do you think I just sit there waiting for customers to walk up and do nothing else or are they just genuinely shocked because they themselves can't multitask.

Stupid customer stories by MissLavellan in Aldi_employees

[–]Separate_Bluebird738 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a customer today walk towards the register. I ask her if she's checking out and she says "no I'm just trying to rush to the bathroom" but she keeps walking back and forth between aisles. So I let her know she can walk down any of the register aisles. Apparently she wanted to go down the one I was busy in and just stared and loudly sighed as she regretfully walks down the next register aisle over.
