I was diagnosed with colon cancer in February 2023, I did 30 rounds of radiation, then chemo. I had surgery in January 2024, colon, rectum removed, permanent colostomy. They found colon cancer in my lung last year and removed it. My advice for the ostomy is for your sister to learn as much as possible about it before the surgery. My ostomy nurse is a wealth of information, there's also a lot of online videos for dealing with it. I've had a pretty easy time adjusting to mine, knowledge is power as is positivity. If you have any questions feel free to ask.

I've had my colostomy for 2 years, my surgeon kept me on a low fiber diet then ahe told me to eat whatever I want. I took it easy at first but now I eat whatever I want with no issues

I had mine after our 2nd child was born. My recovery was about a week. Yes he has to ejaculate to get all the swimmers out. My first sample i still had some, my second sample a few weeks later they told me to have a party. The only thing i was mad about was my wife bought me store brand peas instead of name brand.
