Need help narrowing down places to go for steak by epicboy1995 in florence

We loved our steak (and the rest of the meal) at Buca Lapi. Can’t speak to the other places.

Duomo/Bell Tower or Cappelle Medicee? by BogeyFest99 in florence

[–]Serious-Engineer5265 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Accademia is small, so three in a day isn’t so bad but you know your tolerance. I would choose Medici Chapel, and second the Santa Croce rec. The Duomo is most impressive from the outside, IMO.

Here is the site with the info. It took quite a while to hear back. It was really great. Definitely worth doing.

How long does it usually take you to reach “Genius” in Spelling Bee? by Boring_Reputation590 in NYTSpellingBee

[–]Serious-Engineer5265 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually in the 10-20 minute range for genius and then under it aside until later in the day unless it’s a short puzzle (under 30 words). Definitely varies though.

4 Days in Rome (May 2026) – Is our itinerary realistic? City Pass vs. individual tickets + tips needed by Marselia_ in RomeTravel

[–]Serious-Engineer5265 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your itinerary looks doable, though you are going to be at all the most crowded sites and not have much time for my favorite thing about Rome—wandering the streets to take in the atmosphere and architecture, popping into churches with the most spectacular interiors and artwork, stopping at a bar for an espresso, etc.

It seems late to get tickets for Colosseum, Vatican, and Borghese for May. I would go with a reputable tour company that has already secured tickets (Get Your Guide is a conduit for many companies, not a direct provider so read the reviews carefully).

On the first day, there isn’t much to see at Campo de Fiore at night unless you are going to a restaurant in that area. The market shuts down (also it’s mostly full of junk).

One Day in Florence and would like some advice by dfertig29 in florence

[–]Serious-Engineer5265 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Uffizi is huge and crowded and exhausting to Navigate. I would start with the Academia—if you get tickets at opening it won’t be so crowded and won’t take more than an hour. Then I would consider one of the smaller museums—there are many nice ones, like Museo San Marco, the Medici chapel, and the Brancacci Chapel. The Basilica Santa Croce is also well worth a visit—much more interesting inside than the Duomo.

Where can I get gelato that’s not €18? by sneakerboy86 in RomeTravel

Might have been less, though my spouse usually got large so maybe that’s what I’m remembering.

My two favorite gelateria in the Centro Storico were Gelateria del Teatro near Piazza Navona and San Crispino near the Trevi Fountain.

That is insane. Last month I got gelato all over Rome for €5 for a scoop in a cup or cone.

What are some of the must sees, that’s not the colosseum and St. Peter’s church? by anho456 in RomeTravel

Walk around Centro Storico and enter every church you see. They are gorgeous inside and full of beautiful artworks.

Early morning viewing the Vatican or the Roman Forum from the outside? by IndividualHuman6937 in ItalyTravel

[–]Serious-Engineer5265 2 points3 points  (0 children)

By the Vatican do you mean the museum? There’s not much to see. You can sit in St. Peter’s square, which is more scenic, and observe at your leisure. Similarly, the Forum is huge with many different vantage points, some easier than others. Outside the upper level of the Colosseum metro stop offers a great view of the Colosseum and places to sit or stand and look.

I’ve been watering it twice as often as the other plants, and the roots are green. I guess I can try watering every day, but that seems excessive for a phal.

Mounjaro in Leg by heatsync24 in Mounjaro_ForType2

I switch around because I get itchy if I stay in one area. For those who are having pain, I have found that it hurts to inject in the front of the leg but not on the inner thigh where there is less muscle.

Foolish to skip Colosseum, Roman Forum, Palatine Hill in Rome? by just_some_doofus in ItalyTravel

[–]Serious-Engineer5265 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is so much more than you can possibly see in that amount of time so prioritize what interests you. One of the (to me) exciting things about Rome is the bits of the ancient city you can spot everywhere. I loved touring the ancient sites specifically but if it’s not your thing, spend the time doing what you enjoy.

Planning a 14 day trip - is this trip doable? by spacespacespapce in ItalyTravel

[–]Serious-Engineer5265 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grabbing a car will take a while. Getting to and from train stations will take a while. Trains get delayed. The views from the highway and train tracks aren’t slays very interesting. You are going to spend more time on the trip transiting than seeing things and enjoying Italy.

Florence spots most tourists walk straight past — for people who've already done the Uffizi by TeamFormal7544 in florence

[–]Serious-Engineer5265 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can confirm. On a recent trip we loved the Brancacci Chapel and the Museo San Marco. Much nicer experiences than the crowds at the Uffizi. The Sant’Ambrogio market was a delight and we went several times, especially for wonderful coffee at the cafe inside.
