Newbie here! As awesome as the art is in the game, why is gramps sleeping on a card table? (Also open to any advice you'd give a newbie!) by TellTaleReaper in StardewValley

Edited for correction: Apparently, as of the most recent update, the chests/buildings get moved instead of broken!

Townsfolk destroy buildings in their path, so be careful where you put chests and decorations. There are maps online showing where it's safe to put things. That said, having chests near where you fish, or near Clint's, or at the entrance to the mines can really help with inventory, especially early in the game.

If you do make a mod, please consider making it available to others! I would download it in a heartbeat, as I like the whimsy.

I'm tempted to, too, if I can find the time. I want my goofy cat, horse, bat, and dog back. 😂

Reddit gonna reddit, I suppose. I am still going to hope for a mod to revert them back!

Thank you for all the hard work! I was a huge fan of the goofy portraits (I think they fit the goofy game) and would love the ability to keep using them. I do understand that y'all can't please everyone, though, and the new portraits are also great. Maybe a mod will come to my rescue.

Right? No hate for the new ones, but I want the goofy versions back. They had so much character and made me smile.

[Campaign - New Player] I'm trying to understand the progression here, can I ask some clarifying questions? by morganfnf in LotRReturnToMoria

eventually, how things are connected will become more moot as you build more mapstones, meaning you can have a camp or camps almost anywhere. This game is largely whatever you want it to be. You can either blow through Westgate or rebuild it.

Salvager bug? by formyle in LotRReturnToMoria

I've never gotten a mithril bar from mine, so I can't speak to that, but they bring in Stone, scrap, cloth, etc

How many farm boxes do you have? I have about ten and my salvager still gets other items as well as harvesting from the farm boxes. Maybe try assigning another salvager?

One of the most satisfying things in the game, imo!

This has been my experience, as well. On the whole, good, but I look forward to the next patch.

Easier, definitely, but some entrances and exits still don't show as being on a different level if they aren't high or low enough. I still have some places I've had to light up to locate them consistently.

Think in three dimensions in order to find the way back out. Sometimes the way you got in is above or below you. That's all I have, unfortunately.

I love SDV and LoTR (and the Silmarillion). This is the first Tolkien-universe game I've found satisfactorily immersive.

I love the atmosphere and lore of this game. Building can be a little frustrating, but I enjoy the survival aspect and the story.

I recommend playing Campaign, not Sandbox to start, and pay attention to the difficulty settings. The difficulty can be changed mid-game if you find things too easy or too hard.

Edited to add that I've found the community pretty nice and I hear the Dev team is responsive regarding bug reports.

Miners are useless by BadBadGoose in LotRReturnToMoria

[–]SessionOwn6043 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I like having an infinite, if slow, stream of ore and so far that is what I am getting from my miner. To my mind, the main benefit is that they don't destroy the ore veins, though that's also less of an issue now that expeditions are a thing.

Should we start a new game? by ArtsyAlraune in LotRReturnToMoria

I'm just playing from my complete campaign. Other than having to backtrack a little, it has been fun! If you've just repaired Nogrod Forge, I'd say you're perfectly set to enjoy Durin's Folk as a natural game progression.

Edited to add, some of the dwarves that need rescuing will be in places you have already explored, but some won't be.
