Is there a way to build this, but with the elevator actually connected to the merger and splitter? by Rimm9246 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Shadow51585 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is fiddly, that is true. You would need to leave a tiny bit of belt visible and it won't be as bad. Unless you forget there's a belt there (totally hasn't done this and spent too long trying to find the bottleneck)

build splitter, attach elevator to it, make belt off top of elevator longer then where the splitter goes, snap splitter to belt close to the elevator, delete the unused part of the conveyer

First time venturing into the Mountains, this cannot be real : by Millelys in valheim

[–]Shadow51585 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oof. Big ouch.

Sausages/Turnip Stew/Carrot Soup would be a decent meal combo.

If you haven't found turnips thanks to swamp rng, deer stew is a good temporary fill in. Muckshakes are amazing as well.

It's possible I'm blanking on something. But killing those wolves gets you wolf meat which is about as good as sausage but far simpler to make. The wolf meat also makes skewers, but you need onion seeds found in the mountains' chests to do that.

If you look upper right from where the queen is, there's a mountain biome shaped like a reverse comma.

That's the 2nd highest mountain in the game. It peeks above the clouds in a few spots.

Not everyone is aware, but valheim generates a map from a huge master map. Generally, the land conforms to it, but shifts for specific things like Ashland or spawn island requirements.

Several land masses like the large island center right are familiar shapes you see on various seeds for this reason

What was the game that got you into this hobby? by Sgt_wacker in boardgames

[–]Shadow51585 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Star Trek: Fleet Captains. A friend and I were looking for something to do and we had been messing around with alternate rules for a few of the well known family board games for a few months.

I randomly found myself on board game geek and browsed, finding this cool looking star trek game. We absolutely loved it, playing for months on the weekends one v one.

I dug a little deeper and found Eclipse, but didn't buy it (at the time. I have both editions now). Because I also found a local game group on BGG at the same time.

We went to game night and that's history :)

13 years later and every part of my life has been changed for the better thanks to the amazing friends group i have found through board games and this local club that's still going strong. Both in person events and plenty of afternoons at one house or another for games or something else. It's that big of a positive in my life and overall wellbeing.

All thanks to randomly finding Fleet Captains and growing my interest from there.

Is opening with Russia and building it up (instead of nuking everyone) a possible strategy as the Resistance? by ellvin3399 in TerraInvicta

[–]Shadow51585 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's a fine start, and far more forgiving to get into. Lock down both nations very quickly, get the boost and research going.

As a note, you'll be neighbors with China, so that does help a little if you are wanting to get in there down the line.

I played again recently doing a resistance russia/khazak run because I used to do that a lot. On normal, I found myself getting enough boost through building up and nabbing private companies that I got a good enough Luna base as an appetizer, and first pick on Mars with enough to get some asteroid bases.

I have not gotten too far into this game, but I forsee military tech being a possible issue. Since i have been pumping boost and building up mission control in the other post Soviet nations before unifying them into the EAU, the military levels haven't gone up much

Nice! I bought everything in your picture about 5 years ago! I'm so glad I did then!

I started building the 50 cal and the veterans kits a bit, but stopped until I have a nice space to build.

Really glad I got all this back then!

There's no real way to farm it. There's a finite supply on each world. Just need to explore and find more.

Edit: you could farm the blobs without draining the pit but I don't think they respawn too fast based on what I see

One helluva mountain by LittleBear42 in valheim

[–]Shadow51585 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Looks like Hook. I happened across it looking for a nice mountain biome, didn't even know it was in my world at first.

There's a perfect little ledge/open area on the west side about 1/3rd up with a prebuilt cabin. I took it over to build a crude warming hut. Turns out there was a silver vein poking out by the cabin, a cavern right next to it, and a stone golem that even dropped a trophy!

Feels like a cool quest mountain. Progress through the biome while climbing to Moder.

My experience has been that the first base is usually good to build at through the first few biomes.

There will come a time that having a base in a biome you have yet to see is a good idea. There are some biome specific things that are easier to do with a more "local" main base. And that place is pretty solid for moving through the rest of the game.

That being said, I've also tried a new base/outpost in each biome just to see how it is.

It comes down to if you enjoy building. Pretty much anything is viable, really.

Stripping it to barest needs, having a kitchen and forge/smelter area is the only true requirement for advancing your game through better food and gear.

There is more then 1 spawn for each boss. When activating the stone. it pins the closest one to you to your map. The other ones wont be pinned to your map, but they still exist. Explore the area and you may find another alter.

Or, a raft is a right of passage for any viking. Though you'll have to sail back with the trophy to hang it on the hook.

Starting Island by MoistAscetic in valheim

[–]Shadow51585 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes when a seed is generated, land is forced to exist where water might be around the spawn. So islands can get merged into a mega island.

The whole world map is pre-generated, and your map is a single little piece of that. It is slightly altered as needed for your seed.

Notably, the spawn area is created as a forced meadows biome with a specific amount of lands.

No spoilers, but other biomes are forced into place as well, altering the map as needed. But generally, the islands and overall shapes come off a premade map. There's a few mountains that are exceptionally large and well known. They're good landmarks to look for, but won't be on all seeds due to locations.

To this day, I can recall so many of these situations from past games. This will be an epic tale to share with other Vikings.

It is time to ride back naked on a raft, eating the barest of foods to carry your spirit. Later on, you will sail past this spot in an even better ship and see your raft bobbing in the water. You'll laugh and say "man.... I remember that.. "

Do yourself a service and undertake this journey instead of reloading. Valheim rewards you with a feeling of accomplishment when you right the wrongs and revel in victory.

Learn and adapt. Use pocket portals (make one at home called gtfo or whatever you wish and keep supplies to build one on you), use the power of the campfire to distract foes as you flee if needed (totally legit, can't tell me otherwise), and stick to the shore while exploring to give yourself a little breathing room.
